Esr Of Gd3+ In Y1 - X - Yybxgdyinni4
Electron spin resonance (ESR) results of Gd3+ diluted in (Y1 - xYbx)InNi4 for 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.8 are reported. It is found that for x = 0 the linewidth presents the usual temperature linear behavior and a negative g-shift. As x is increased the residual linewidth also increases, and a non-linear temperature dependence is observed. An additional relaxation channel through the RKKY interaction is suggested to explain the results. The Yb exchange parameter is determined as function of the concentration. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Magnetization And Specific Heat In U 1-xla Xga 2 And Magnetocaloric Effect In Uga 2
We have investigated the properties of the ferromagnetic series U1-x Lax Ga2. The magnetization results show a reduction of μeff and of Tc when x is increased. The electronic coefficient γ of the specific heat increases to a maximum of 260 mJUmol K2 at x=0.75. This behavior is probably consequence of delocalization of 5f electrons, causing enhancement of the density of states. For x=0.9 the ordering disappears and a non-Fermi-liquid behavior is observed. U Ga2 also presented a significant magnetocaloric effect of Δ Smag =-3.5 Jkg K at 120 K and H=7 T which can be modified by chemical pressure. © 2005 American Institute of Physics.9710Andeev, A.V., Belov, K.P., Deriagin, A.V., Levitin, R.Z., Menovsky, A., (1979) J. Transport And Thermodynamic Properties Of Ybinni4-xcux System
We report on specific heat and resistivity results on YbInNi4-xCux with 0 ≤ x ≤ 4. The magnetic resistivity for x ≤ 1 presents two temperature regions with a - ln T dependence due to the crystal field (CF) and show that the splitting of the first excited state increases with the Cu concentration. The specific heat results are in agreement with resistivity and lead to the evaluation of crystal field splitting for the first and second excited states. The energy level scheme remains unaltered when Cu replaces Ni. The unit cell volume increases linearly with x, but the Kondo temperature obtained from the specific heat does not change monotonically as expected for the whole series. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Effect Of Volume Variation On The Properties Of The Kondo System (la1-xcex)3al
We have measured the electrical resistivity and ac magnetic susceptibility x(T) of (La1-xCex)3Al, for 0 ≤x≤1, and the electrical resistivity of (Ce1-zYz)3Al, for 0≤z≤0.1. The system was characterized using x-ray diffraction and metallography. From x-ray data we were able to determine the structure for all samples to be hexagonal and that the unit-cell volume decreases linearly in going from the La-rich side to the Ce-rich side. The results show that La3Al is a superconductor below 6.2 K and that Tc. decreases rapidly with the increase of the Ce concentration. For x>0.04 we observed a minimum in the resistivity and a reduction of the effective magnetic moment of Ce due to a strong compensation promoted by the Kondo effect. Our results show that the Kondo temperature increases with Ce and Y concentration, according to the reduction of the unit-cell volume. We also show that the antiferromagnetic transition temperature goes through a maximum at z=0.025, indicating that there is an interplay between superconductivity, antiferromagnetic ordering, and the Kondo effect. A diagram illustrating the evolution of the TK and TN is presented. The electronic specific heat (γ) increases with the Ce concentration showing a maximum around x≈0.4. It was also possible to determine values for the pJ product and the relative variation of the exchange parameter.571059005905Doniach, S., (1977) Physica B, 91, p. 231Sereni, J.G., Kapler, J.P., (1994) J. Study Of The Magnetic And Calorimetric Properties Of (u1-xrx)cu5al (r=la And Y)
We have investigated the magnetic and thermodynamic properties of the (U1-xRx)Cu5Al (R=La and Y) series. The results show a quick decrease of TN for both La and Y substitutions. For the Y series with concentration between 0.3≤x≤0.4, the temperature dependence of the specific heat and magnetic susceptibility below 10 K are consistent with a non-Fermi-liquid regime. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. Transition From Kondo To Intermediate Valence Regime In (la1-xcex)ni: An Esr Study
We report on electron spin resonance (ESR) results for the series of compounds (La1-xCex)Ni doped with Gd. We show that from the Gd g-value and linewidth one can determine the concentration xc where the system goes from Kondo single impurity to Kondo lattice (and intermediate valence) regimes. The observed behaviour in both the g-value and the slope of the linewidth-T curves is explained using the indirect interaction between Gd and Ce moments. The calculation leads to the determination of the Ce-Gd exchange parameter JCe-Gd = 4.8 meV and the Ce-conduction electron exchange parameter \Jf-s\ = 19 meV, for x = 1.104397639768(1995) SCES'94 Proc. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Time Resolved Thermal Lens Measurements Of The Thermo-optical Properties Of Nd2o3-doped Low Silica Calcium Aluminosilicate Glasses Down To 4.3 K
In this work, the thermal lens spectrometry was applied to measure the thermo-optical properties of Nd2O3-doped low silica calcium aluminosilicate glasses as a function of temperature, between 4.3 and 300 K. The thermal relaxation calorimetry was used to determine the specific heat, cp. The results showed a decrease of the thermal diffusivity of about one order of magnitude from 4.3 K up to 300 K, with a T-1 dependence in the interval between 20 and 70 K and a T-0.35 between 4.3 and 20 K. The fluorescence quantum efficiencies of the doped samples were calculated down to 50 K, showing a variation of the order of 12% and 25% for the samples with 0.6 and 1.04 mol% of Nd2O3, respectively. In addition, the temperature corresponding to the maximum in cp/T3, the so-called boson peak, was observed at about 17 K for the undoped sample and at lower temperatures for the doped glasses. In conclusion, our results showed the ability of the time resolved thermal lens to determine the thermo-optical properties of glasses at temperatures lower than 300 K, bringing new possibilities for experiments in a wide range of optical materials. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
