The Effect of High Quality Feed Supplement on Growth Performance Post-Weaning Calves
This research aimed to evaluate the effect of high quality feed supplement (HQFS) in growth performance of post-weaning calves. Twenty four calves post-weaning aged 6 months old, consisting of 12 males and 12 females, randomly divided into 2 groups, each group consisting of 6 calves. Grouping male and female calves fed control feed plus HQFS, was formulated from corn grain, corn gluten meal (CGM), pollard, soybean meal (SBM), wheat flour and agromix booster (treatment diet) as first group (treatment), and the second group was fed control feed without addition of HQFS (control). This study was conducted for 6 weeks. The variables observed included feed intake (dry matter, crude protein, and TDN), weight gain, feed conversion, feed cost per gain and body size (body length, chest girth, and withers height). The treatment was in factorial 2x2 in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Growth performance of post weaning calves were analyzed as repeated measures with feed (treatment and control) and sex (male and female) as factors. Results showed that the CP consumption, ADG and chest girth of treatment group was higher than (P<0.01) than the control group (0.42 and 0.34 kg/d, 0.95 and 0.71 kg/d, and 12.41 and 8.25 cm). TDN consumption, feed conversion, and body length of the treatment group were higher (P<0.05) than the control group (3.08 and 2.57 kg/d, 3.64 and 4.86, and 8.12 and 5.95 cm). DM consumption, chest girth and feed cost per gain of treatment and control group were not significant (3.87 and 3.69 kg/d, 7.30 and 6.72 cm, and IDR 16,280.00 and IDR 19,167.00). There was no difference between the growth of post-weaning calves between the male and female groups. There was no interaction between feed type and sex of the post-weaning calves. The conclusion of this study was that post-weaning calves fed HQFS (20.2%) produced better growth performance than controls
Kualitas Fisik Snack Bar Pakan Ternak Ruminansia Berbasis Limbah Tanaman Jagung dengan Lama Penyimpanan yang Berbeda
Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengevaluasi kualitas fisik snack bar pakan ternak dengan lama penyimpanan yang berbeda. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) terdiri lima perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Adapun perlakuan yaitu lama penyimpanan snack bar 0, 2, 4, 6 dan 8 minggu. Variabel yang diamati yaitu kerapatan partikel, daya serap air, dan organoleptik snack bar yang meliputi aroma, tekstur, warna, dan keberadaan jamur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pakan snack bar dengan lama penyimpanan yang berbeda berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap variabel daya serap air, warna, dan aroma snack bar dan tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap variabel kerapatan partikel, tekstur, dan keberadaan jamur snack bar. Lama penyimpanan sampai 4 minggu memiliki kerapatan partikel yang lebih tinggi, warna coklat, tekstur yang padat dan tidak menunjukkan adanya keberadaan jamur dan lama penyimpanan 2 minggu memiliki daya serap air yang terendah dan aroma khas harum limbah tanam jagung. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pakan Snack bar dengan lama penyimpanan hingga 4 minggu menunjukkan kualitas fisik yang terbaik meliputi kerapatan partikel, daya serap air, tekstur, warna, aroma, dan keberadaan jamur
Potensi Infusa Daun Belimbing Wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi Linn) sebagai Akarisida Alami terhadap Caplak Boophilus mikroplus
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi infusa daun belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi Linn) sebagai akarisida alami terhadap caplak Boophilus microplus berdasarkan konsentrasi dan waktu yang dibutuhkan untuk membunuh caplak Boophilus microplus. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimental dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap yang dibagi menjadi empat perlakuan yaitu: P0 = 100 % akarisida bahan kimia (Permethrin dan Piperonyl Butoxide): P1 = 25 % infusa daun belimbing wuluh; P2 = 50 % infusa daun belimbing wuluh; P3 = 75 % infusa daun belimbing wuluh. Sampel caplak Boophilus microplus yang digunakan sebanyak 125 ekor dengan 5 kali ulangan dan setiap ulangan terdiri dari 5 ekor caplak. Analisis data menggunakan Anova dengan uji lanjut Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rataan waktu kematian caplak tercepat terdapat pada perlakuan kontrol positif (P0) yaitu 208,04 ± 42,65a menit atau 3 jam 28 menit dan P3 yaitu 254,84 ± 36,66ab atau 4 jam 14 menit. Rataan waktu kematian caplak terlama terdapat pada perlakuan P1 (25 % infusa daun belimbing wuluh) yaitu 349,52 ± 11,82c menit atau 5 jam 50 menit. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa, infusa daun belimbing wuluh mampu berperan sebagai akarisida alami karena dapat membunuh caplak Boophilus microplus dengan konsentrasi pemberian sebanyak 75 % dengan waktu kematian 4 jam 14 menit sehingga dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif pengganti akarisida berbahan kimia

The experimental animals used were 25 Etawa Crossbreed goats aged 8-9 months and divided into 5 treatments, namely: P0 (100% distilled water); P1 (5% Moringa oleivera leaf infusion); P2 (10% Moringa oleivera leaf infusion); P3 (15% Moringa oleivera leaf infusion) and P4 (20% Moringa oleivera leaf infusion). Meat bone ratio (MBR) potongan komersial karkas ayam Broiler dengan nanoenkapsulasi ekstrak buah Mahkota Dewa
The objective of this study was to determine the effect of supplementation nanoencapsulation of Mahkota Dewa fruit extract (NEMD) against the meat bone ratio (MBR) of the commercial part of the broiler chicken carcass. The research material was used 200 male broiler chickens aged eight days who were rearing in open house cages. The treatments consisted of drinking water without feed additives (P0; negative control), drinking water + tetracycline antibiotics (P1; positive control), drinking water + 2.5% Mahkota Dewa fruit extract (P2), drinking water + 2.5 % NEMD (P3), and drinking water + 5.0 % NEMD (P4). Parameters observed were slaughter weight, carcass weight, and MBR of the commercial part of the broiler chicken carcass. The data obtained were analyzed using a completely randomized design (CRD). Data with significant results were further tested using orthogonal contrast (P-Value < 0.05). The results showed that the use of NEMD up to 5% in drinking water did not have a significant effect on the MBR of the commercial part of the broiler chicken carcass. Pengaruh Lama Penyimpanan terhadap Kadar Air, Abu dan Bahan Ektrak Tanpa Nitrogen (BETN) Wafer Pakan Ternak Berbasis Limbah Jagung
Wafer pakan ternak berbasis limbah jagung dengan lama penyimpanan hingga 8 minggu merupakan penyajian pakan ternak dengan inovasi teknologi pengolahan pakan yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas nutrisi limbah tanaman jagung secara keseluruhan sebagai pakan ternak sumber serat dan sumber energi sehingga diharapkan dapat meningkatkan palatabilitas limbah tanaman jagung dan produktivitas ternak ruminansia dalam memenuhi ketersediaan pakan sepanjang tahun. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengevaluasi kualitas nutrisi wafer pakan ternak dengan lama penyimpanan yang berbeda. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) terdiri lima perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Adapun perlakuan yaitu lama penyimpanan wafer pakan ternak 0, 2, 4, 6, dan 8 minggu. Variabel yang diamati yaitu kadar air, kadar abu, dan bahan ekstrak tanpa nitrogen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan wafer pakan ternak dengan lama penyimpanan yang berbeda memiliki pengaruh yang berbeda nyata (P<0,05) terhadap kadar air dan kadar abu dan bahan ekstrak tanpa nitrogen. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
