Analyse waterrobuuste inrichting: Voor nieuwbouw en vitale & kwetsbare functies

    No full text
Deltaprogramm

Co-authorship networks and scientific performance. Evidences from a case study by using different bibliographic archives

    No full text
The present contribution aims at exploring the effects of collaborative behaviours on scholar scientific performance. Mainly thanks to the availability of international bibliographic archives, seminal studies in various fields have been focused on co-authorship networks as a proxy of scholars' collaborative skills. To this purpose, several data sources are available but they present some drawbacks, especially when a specific discipline or community is under analysis. For instance, international archives might not be able to cover all kinds of scientific production, especially for social sciences where papers can be published in books or in national-oriented journals. In this scenario, we gathered co-authorship data on the scientific community of Italian academic statisticians as recorded in the Italian Ministry of University and Research database at March 2010. We used three bibliographic archives covering top-international journals as well as thematic and nationally oriented publications: Web of Science (WoS), Current Index to Statistics (CIS), and bibliographic information related to nationally funded research projects (PRIN). Since each data source showed peculiar characteristics influencing both network properties and performance results, we also discussed the main issues and the practical implications on merging data sources (i.e., record linkage and author name disambiguation) improving the bibliographic data quality for reconstruct an unified co-authorship network. Both network and individual covariates are used to model individual h-index by Generalized Extreme Value (GEV) distribution. Our results provided evidence of our hypotheses on distinct collaboration patterns among statisticians, as well as distinct effects of scientist network positions on scientific performance, by both Statistics subfield and data source. Documentalità o della grammatologia quale scienza positiva. Ferraris e l’eredità di Derrida

    No full text
The author proposes to read Documentalità constantly referring to Jacques Derrida’s work, which is one of its main sources. This comparative reading develops through a double move: on the one hand, it attempts to explain Derrida’s famous sentence “there is nothing outside the text” taking into account the criticism elaborated in Ferraris’ work. On the other hand, it suggests an understanding of the theory of document as a development of Derrida’s project of a “Grammatology as a positive science”. The articulation of this twofold movement is found in Derrida’s theory of archiwriting, to which Ferraris refers: the liberation of the theory of writing from the linear phonetic-alphabetic ideal in view of a multidimensional writing, which can explain the functioning of our thinking and its articulation with the systems of inscription that the new technologies have made available

Un insolito triangolo letterario: Plauto, Querolus e Vitale di Blois

: Querolus, by an anonimous author, and Aulularia, by Vitale from Blois, were both inspired by Plautus’ Aulularia, though both perform events that are subsequent to the Plautine plot. The paper highlights similarities and differences, particularly in some characters of Querolus (Mandrogerus, the parasite, is reminiscent of Terence’s Gnatho in Eunuchus; Pantomalus, the servus, shares many fatures with Plautine slaves) and of Vitale’s Aulularia (especially Sardana and Gnatho

Video Game, Author and Lemming: The Knowledge-Building Process

    No full text
Many studies show that video games require attentive and interpretive capacity to generate complex cognitive skills in the gamer and they can be transferred to other contexts, such as school. In this paper, the authors do not aim to investigate the contents of the player’s thinking, but rather his/her way of thinking. In this scenario the teacher becomes a worlds’ maker, who provides his/her students with the tools allowing them to partake in the co-building of multi-tiered worlds, which requires not only the ability to get access to intangible information but also a skillful management of media interfaces. In this way, the click of the mouse becomes the action par excellence that allows each individual to contribute synergistically to the realization of the digital habitats. The ultimate goal is to search, in the learning processes activated by the video games in both the authors and the lemming, those features that make the learner a self-knowledge builder. Such “socio-cultural grammar” influences the writing and interpretation of messages, turning every individual into an author, who’s often unaware of the “scriptwriting culture” that inhabits all the possible media worlds
