Study of multicellular living organisms by SXCM (Soft X-ray contact microscopy)
No full textSoft X-ray Contact Microscopy (SXCM) of Caenorhabditis elegans nematodes with typical length 800 mu m and diameter 30 mu m has been performed using the PALS laser source of wavelength lambda = 1.314 mu m and pulse duration tau (FWHM) = 400 ps. Pulsed soft X-rays were generated using molybdenum and gold targets with laser intensities I >= 10(14) W/cm(2). Images have been recorded on PMMA photo resists and analyzed using an atomic force microscope operating in contact mode. Cuticle features and several internal organs have been identified in the SXCM images including lateral field, cuticle annuli, pharynx, and hypodermal and neuronal cell nuclei
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

No full textDiviene importante riflettere come il concetto e il formato di rete possa non essere un ostacolo ma una facilitazione al dialogo e all’integrazione. In realtà la prospettiva con cui si osserverà questa tematica non sarà strettamente tecnologica, perché importante porsi in una prospettiva metodologica, una prospettiva che permetta una analisi di come la rete ha portato nuovi stili di rapporti tra le persone e quindi ci fa riflettere su la strutturazione e la modifica del concetto di integrazione, che trascende la semplice connessione per evolvere in un dialogo di interconnessione.
È importante rapportarsi con la rete non solo come strumento e formato comunicativo ma anche come luogo di dialogo, un rapporto molti a molti, interpersonale, che è inevitabilmente anche interculturale. Una rete che è uno spazio educativo, culturale e che per la sua forte connotazione interattiva diviene strumento di approccio efficace ai concetti di intercultura e diversità.
La rete mostra processi in cui si intrecciano sia da un punto di vista dei contenuti, sia da un punto di vista dell’approccio, uno sguardo interculturale e una prospettiva di cittadinanza digitale.
Questa evoluzione ha modificato il modo di agire e di pensare la tecnologia che non è più uno strumento a nostra disposizione ma è l’ambiente in cui
ci muoviamo. In questa nuova prospettiva la tecnologia, la tecnica, non ha uno scopo, non promuove un senso, non apre scenari di salvezza, non redime, non svela verità: la tecnica funziona.
Così come la tecnologia anche il senso dell’Intercultura ha subito un’accelerazione negli ultimi anni, forse anche in relazione alla crescente possibilità di
reperire informazioni e di relazionarsi con persone di diversa estrazione culturale, alla crescente interconnessione che la rete offre
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. senza l’intervento di un tecnico di regia e con limitata post-produzione. Si
presenta l’architettura hardware e software del sistema che consente di
registrare e comprimere in tempo reale il video di una lezione. Il sistema è
facilmente trasportabile da un aula all’altra in diversi momenti della
didattica dei corsi di laurea. Il progetto è orientato all’archiviazione delle
lezioni registrate, per la loro successiva fruizione, a vantaggio degli
studenti: in particolare di studenti disabili, studenti lavoratori, malattie,
carenze di mezzi di trasporto ecc
