No full textWe correct the results in section 6 of [B. Cappelletti Montano, A. De Nicola, G. Dileo, 3-Quasi-Sasakian manifolds, Ann. Global Anal. Geom. 33 (2008), 397-409], concerning the corrected energy of the Reeb distribution of a compact 3-quasi-Sasakian manifold. The results are slightly different than what was originally claimed and they are obtained by using results in [B. Cappelletti Montano, A. De Nicola, G. Dileo, The geometry of a 3-quasi-Sasakian manifold, Int. J. Math., to appear, arXiv:0801.1818], where the geometry of these manifolds is more deeply investigated

No full textEste trabajo es una aproximación a Arias Montano como científico. Esta faceta ha sido ignorada por los investigadores y sólo se ha estudiado a este personaje desde otros puntos de vista. En este trabajo, se muestra a Arias Montano como un renacentista sensu stricto. Finalmente, se presenta la traducción del epígrafe De circulo aquarum et fluminum de la Naturae Historia de Benito Arias Montano. Aquí se descubre a Arias Montano como científico y precursor de la presión atmosférica.This paper approaches Arias Montano as a scientist. This characteristic has been ignored by researchers, who have only studied this author from others point of view. Arias Montano appears here as a Renaissance man sensu stricto. Finally, the translation of De circulo aquarum et fluminum in Arias Montano's Naturae Historia is presented. Arias Montano is discovered like a scientist and precursor of atmosphere pressure
Some remarks on the generalized Tanaka-Webster connection of a contact metric manifold
No full textWe find necessary and sufficient conditions for the bi-Legendrian connection \nabla associated to a bi-Legendrian structure (F,G) on a contact metric manifold (M,\phi,\xi,\eta,g) being a metric connection and then we give conditions ensuring that \nabla coincides with the (generalized) Tanaka-Webster connection of (M,\phi,\xi,\eta,g). Using these results, we give some interpretations of the Tanaka-Webster connection and we study the interactions between the Tanaka-Webster, the bi-Legendrian and the Levi Civita connection in a Sasakian manifold

No full textEn la obra Virorvm doctorvm de disciplinis benemerentivm Effigies XLVIII. Benito Arias Montano y Philips Galle (Amberes, 1572) realizaron una antología de retratos de cuarenta y cuatro humanistas europeos, a los que les unía una gran admiración y en muchos casos también amistad personal. Varios de estos sabios pertenecen a países germano-parlantes. Con el deseo de encontrar puntos convergentes entre la cultura alemana y la figura de Benito Arias Montano, el objetivo de este artículo es rescatar del catálogo del extremeño los nombres de estos sabios y detenerse en sus biografías, trabajos, repercursión en la comunidad humanística internacional y sus relaciones con Benito Arias Montano y Philips Galle.In the work Virorvm doctorvm de disciplinis benemerentivm Effigies XLVIII. Benito Arias Montano and Philips Galle (Antwerp, 1572) made an anthology of 44 portraits of european humanists. The authors of this work admired these intellectuals and in many cases they had a personal friendship with them too. Several of these humanists belong to German-speaker countries. With the desire to find common points between the german culture and the figure of Benito Arias Montano, the aim of this article is to extract the names of these humanists from the anthology of the author from Extremadura and to study their biographies, works, impact in the international humanist community and their relationships with Benito Arias Montano and Philips Galle
