    No full text
Over the past few decades, evidence has been mounting that food plants contain a host of secondary metabolites which, though generally undetected by our senses, can nevertheless contribute to human homeostasis and play a role in the maintenance of health. The blurred diet-medicine interface will be analyzed from a pharmaceutical point of view, reviewing the “natural” occurrence of mainstream drugs in food, and focusing on the basic chemistry and pharmacology of a selection of small molecules of dietary origin currently under clinical development
