    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

    Amaç: Statik model altında HyFlex EDM, RC Gold ve G-Star nikel titanyum eğelerinin döngüsel yorgunluğa karşı dirençlerinin karşılaştırılmasıdır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Yirmi G-Star (25/,06), 20 RC Gold File (25/,08) ve 20 HyFlex EDM (25/,08) çalışmaya dâhil edildi. Eğeler üretici firma talimatlarına uygun olarak 5 mm kurvatür yarı çapına, 60° kanal kurvatür açısına ve 1,5 mm kanal iç çapına sahip paslanmaz çelikten yapılmış yapay kanallarda kırılıncaya kadar kullanıldı. Eğeler kırılıncaya kadar geçen süre dijital kronometre ile kaydedildi ve eğelerin kırılıncaya kadar yaptığı tur sayısı hesaplandı. Elde edilen veriler Kruskal-Wallis testi ile istatistiksel olarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Eğelerin kırılıncaya kadar yaptığı ortalama tur sayılarının yüksekten düşüğe sıralaması sırayla HyFlex EDM, RC Gold ve G-Star olarak bulundu. Bütün gruplar arasında istatistiksel olarak fark mevcuttu (p<0,05). Sonuç: Çalışmamız sınırları dâhilinde HEDM eğesinin döngüsel yorgunluğa karşı direnci, RC Gold File ve G-Star eğesinden daha yüksek bulunmuştur.Objective: To compare the cyclic fatigue resistance of HyFlex EDM, RC Gold and G-Star nickel titanium files under static model. Material and Methods: Twenty G-Star (25/.06), 20 RC Gold File (25/.08) and 20 HyFlex EDM (25/,08) nickel titanium files were included in the present study. According to the manufacturer instruction files were rotated in an artificial stainless steel with 5 mm radius, 60? angle of curvature and 1.5 mm inner diameter. The time to failure of files was recorded with a digital chronometers and the number of cycles to failure of files were calculated. Kruskal-Wallis test was performed for statistically analyze. Results: The mean number of cycles to failure of files highest to lowest was HyFlex EDM, RC Gold and G-Star respectively. A statistically significant difference was noted between all the groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: Within the limitation of the present study the cyclic fatigue resistance of HyFlex EDM nickel titanium files was greater than the RC Gold and G-Star nickel titanium files

    Bu Yüksek Lisans Tez Çalışmasında, maden ocaklarında meydana gelen yangınlardan bahsedilmiştir. Özellikle, TKİ Konya-Ilgın Kömür Açık İşletmelerinde meydana gelebilecek ocak yangınları araştırılmıştır. İşletmede yapılan araştırmalara göre, dış kaynaklı ocak yangınlarına gerekli önlem ve tedbirlerin alındığı görülmüştür. İç kaynaklı yangınların ise stoklarda bekleyen kömürün oksidasyonu sonucu ekonomik ve ekolojik olarak kayıplara sebep olabileceği tespit edilmiştir. Bülent Ecevit Üniversitesinde yapılan kendiliğinden yanma deney sonuçlarına göre Ilgın Linyit İşletmesinden alınan 5 farklı üretim yerinden alınan numunenin kesişim noktası deneyleri çok fazla bir değişkenlik göstermemiş olup, genelde tutuşma sıcaklığı 194-234 °C arasında değiştiği belirlenmiştir. Ortalama sıcaklık artışlarının da düşük olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Buna göre: yangına yatkınlık indeksleri 2,73-3,73 arasında, risk indeksinin ise "düşük" olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca; işletmenin 5 farklı yerinden alınan kömür numunelerinin TGA/DTA analizleri, Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi Teknoloji Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi'inde (TUAM) yapılmış olup, deney sonuçlarına göre linyitin kendiliğinden yanmaya aktifliği belirlenmiştir.This graduate study mentioned fire occurred in the mine.     Farklı Kanal Patları ile Doldurulmuş Dişlere Uygulanan Değişik Fiber Post Sistemlerinin Bağlantı Kuvvetlerine Karşı Direncinin In Vitro Olarak İncelenmesi Bu araştırmada endodontik tedavide sıklıkla kullanılan rezin esaslı kanal patları ve ZOE esaslı Kerr patı ile doldurulmuş dişlere değişik fiber post sistemi uygulayarak dentine bağlanma kuvvetleri push-out testi ile incelenmiştir. Çalışmada 120 adet tek köklü üst santral çekilmiş dişler kullanılmıştır. Dişlerin kökleri 18 mm standart kök uzunluğu kalacak şekilde kurondan ayrılarak, kök kanalları Protaper tekniği ile genişletilmiştir. Dişler 4 ana gruba ayrılarak 30 luk gruplar halinde güta-perkanın lateral kondensasyon tekniği ile beraber dört farklı kanal patı (AH Plus, Kerr, Epiphany, Endorez) ile doldurulmuştur. 7 gün sonra, her gruba, 10 luk diş olmak üzere üç değişik fiber post sistemi (DT Light, Transluma, Everstick) Duolink rezin simanı ile uygulanmıştır. Post uygulanmış kökler akriliğe gömülerek, köklerin apikal kısmından 4 mm kanal dolgusu bırakılmak süreti ile (apikal, orta, kuronal) üç adet kesit alınmıştır. Alınan kesitlerdeki diş örneklerine push out testi uygulanmış ve elde edilen veriler istatistiksel olarak incelenmiştir. Ayrıca push out testi uygulanan her örnek stereomikroskop altında incelenerek kırık analizleri yapılmıştır. Çalışmamızdan elde edilen bulgulara göre, DT Light fiber post sistemi ile AH Plus kanal patı istatistiksel olarak en güçlü bağlanma kuvveti değerleri gösterirken (p&lt;0.05), Transluma fiber post sistemi ile Kerr kanal patı istatistiksel olarak en zayıf bağlanma kuvveti göstermiştir (p&lt;0.05). Everstick fiber post sisteminde ise, Endorez kanal dolgu patı istatistiksel olarak en güçlü bağlanma kuvveti değerleri göstermiştir (p&lt;0.05). Kanal patı, fiber post, push-out testi, bağlanma kuvvetiThe Effect of Different Root Canal Sealers on the Bond Strength of Different Fiber Post Systems In the present of this study, the effect of resin based sealers and eugenol based Kerr sealer on the bond strength of different fiber post systems were evaluated. One hundred and twenty maxillary anterior central extracted human teeth were used in this study. The roots were seperated and adjusted to 18 mm. The roots were instrumented by using Protaper rotary system. Specimens were randomly divided into four groups and obturated by using lateral condensation of gutta-percha with four different root canal sealers (AH Plus, Kerr, Epiphany, Endorez). After 7 days, teeth in each group (n=10) were received three different fiber posts systems (DT Light, Transluma, Everstick) with Duolink resin cement. Then, the roots were embedded in acrylic resin blocks. After this period, the specimens were sectioned in three slices (apical, middle, coronal). The push-out test was performed in a universal testing machine. All samples submitted push out test were examined under stereomicroscope. Data were submitted ANOVA and Tukey test. Teeth obturated with AH Plus and received DT Light fiber post system showed the highest bond strengths (p&lt;0.05). Teeth obturated with Kerr pulp canal sealer and Transluma fiber post system showed the lowest bond strengths (p&lt;0.05).
