but raises new issues related to the generation of the proper noise driving
the synaptic dynamics. Here we show that a simple, fully deterministic,
spike-driven synaptic device can make use of the network generated vari-
ability in the neuronal activity to drive the required stochastic mechanism.
Randomness emerges naturally from the interaction of deterministic neu-
rons, and no extra source of noise is needed. Learning and forgetting
rates of the network can be easily controlled by changing the statistics of
the spike trains without changing any inherent parameter of the synaptic
dynamics

Optimasi Produksi Protein Rekombinan Human Interferon α-2a Fusi dan Non Fusi yang Diproduksi dalam Pichia pastoris.
Protein Interferon α-2a manusia (hIFNα-2a) merupakan protein sitokin yang banyak digunakan sebagai obat hepatitis dan terapi kanker. Teknik fusi protein hIFNα-2a menghasilkan produk degradasi akibat adanya aktivitas protease, sehingga perlu dilakukan analisis faktor pertumbuhan dan produksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendapatkan kondisi optimum produksi meliputi perlakuan media, waktu, suhu inkubasi serta konsentrasi induksi metanol untuk menghasilkan konsentrasi protein hIFNα-2a yang lebih tinggi pada Pichia pastoris. Metode analisis hasil optimasi menggunakan western blot, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan produksi protein pada semua kondisi optimum dan dipurifikasi dengan kromatografi afinitas, dikarakterisasi dot blot, SDS-PAGE dan dilakukan pengukuran konsentrasi protein. Produksi protein hIFNα-2a fusi dan non fusi didapatkan optimal pada media BMGY-BMMY dengan penambahan inhibitor protease dan induksi metanol dengan konsentrasi 1.5% v/v pada suhu inkubasi 30 °C selama 72 jam. Konsentrasi optimal protein hIFNα-2a fusi sebesar 3.97 mg/L dan konsentrasi protein hIFNα-2a non fusi sebesar 47.64 mg/L

Effect of Oxygen on Ni-Silicided FUSI Metal Gate
Continual evolution of the CMOS technology requires thinner gate dielectric to maintain high performance. However, when moving into the sub-65 nm CMOS generation, the traditional poly-Si gate approach cannot effectively reduce the gate thickness further due to the poly-depletion effect. Fully silicided metal gate (FUSI) has been proven to be a promising solution. FUSI metal gate can significantly reduce gate-line sheet resistance, eliminate boron penetration to channels and has good process compatibility with high-k gate dielectric. In this paper, the effect of oxygen introduced by the process of conventional furnace annealing in FUSI metal gate is investigated.
A 120 nm amorphous Si layer was sputtered on dielectric oxides of various thicknesses grown using a standard oxidation process. Raman spectra showed that the 120 nm thick pre-sputtered amorphous Si recrystallized after annealing in a conventional furnace at 900°C. Secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) revealed that the annealed Si film contained traces of oxygen which were incorporated into the film during the furnace annealing process. It is suspected that the oxygen was originated from a few ppm of impurities present in the high-purity annealing gas (N2). When a 100 nm of Ni was deposited using a DC sputterer on such sample and was rapid thermal annealed (RTA) at 400°C to form a fully silicide film, the transmission electron micrograph showed the existence of unreacted oxygen-rich Si layer along the interface of the NiSi/SiO2, leading to areal non-uniformity in the workfunction. It is suggested that the presence of oxygen can effectively retard the Ni diffusion into the Si film during the silicidation process such that the FUSI process is delayed, and the equivalent oxide thickness (EOT) increased as shown by capacitance-voltage (C-V) measurements. The workfunction of Ni-silicided FUSI film determined by C-V measurement on MOS structures was found to increase compared to the as-deposited amorphous Si film (the control sample).Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA

Abstract: With the special focus to obtain a new tridentate ligand able to coordinate Fe(III), 3-hydroxy-2-(5'-hydroxypentyl)-4H-pyran-4-one (5-H) has been synthesized. Iron/ligand solution chemistry has been investigated in aqueous solution by ESI-MS and cyclic voltammetric measurements. The physiologic predominant specie is the tris-chelate complex as Job test attested. The electrode potential of the [FeIII(5)3]/[FeII(5)3]– couple was evaluated to be –0.54 V vs. SCE, pH 7.4
