Mechanics of polycarbonate in biaxial impact loading
We investigate the deformation and failure behaviour of Polycarbonate(PC) under low-velocity biaxial impact loading. For this, we have conductedexperiments and numerical simulations of the falling weight impacttest (FWT) for different testing configurations. To model PC behaviour indynamic situations, we employed a 3D thermomechanical constitutive modelthat captures the strain rate, pressure and temperature dependence of deformationresponse. The finite element model also incorporates adiabaticheating and contact friction effects. Numerical predictions of the FWT forcedisplacementcurves are in good agreement with experimental observations. An assessment of the developed stress-strain fields indicates that the effectiveplastic stretch p is the invariant that most suitably represents the pointof material failure in all different test configurations. We examine the relationof a maximum p fracture criterion with existing criteria for PC onthe grounds of the triaxiality conditions specific to the biaxial impact test. Finally, we propose an extension of these criteria to enhance their capabilityof predicting failure in part geometries that may become subjected to morecomplex multiaxial loading scenarios.Fil: Torres, Juan Pablo. Fish Capture Strategies in Atlantic Littoral of Monte Hermoso District (Pampean Region Argentina) During Middle Holocene
Pampean hunter-gatherers marine fish capture strategies during the Middle Holocene are analyzed based on fish remains, lithic technology, paleoenviron-mental reconstructions and fish ethology. Barrio Las Dunas site and El Americano II site archaeofaunistic record evidence of the exploitation of estuarine-dependent fish species: Pogonias cromis and Micropogonias furnieri. Lithic assemblages comprise scarce lithic weights corresponding to net weights and line weights that evidence the use of two fishing gears. It is concluded that the study sector was a hunter-gatherers preferential place for marine resource acquisition due to its palaeoenvironmental conditions.Fil: Frontini, Romina. Use of marine fauna and tool stones in the south of Buenos Aires Province (Argentina) during the Middle and Late Holocene
The exploitation of coastal and marine resources by hunter-gatherers in the south of Buenos Aires Province (Argentina) during the Mid-Late Holocene was examined through the analysis of faunal and lithic evidence in the following archaeological sites: El Americano II and Barrio Las Dunas (Mid-Late Holocene), both located in coastal sand dunes, Puente de Fierro (Late Holocene), located in a wetland distant 7 km from the seashore, Paso Vanoli, located 13 km from the seashore, and Paso Mayor YI S1 (Mid-Late Holocene), located in a fluvial environment 41 km from the seashore. The evidence suggests that, during the Mid-Holocene, in the coastal sites, hunter-gatherers used several marine vertebrates (e.g. pinnipeds and fishes—Pogonias cromis-), whereas in the inland sites, they only transported mollusks and coastal pebbles. In the Late Holocene, in the sites located a few kilometers from the coast, hunter-gatherers carried only selected parts of pinnipeds as well as mollusks and coastal pebbles. Pinnipeds represented a low proportion of the faunal remains. In contrast, in sites far away from the Atlantic coast, hunter-gatherers carried only stones and mollusks. We propose that although the Atlantic coast in the study area was regularly visited by hunter-gatherers all along the Holocene, the importance of marine food decreased during the Late Holocene, whereas the importance of coastal tool stones and mollusks continued.Fil: Frontini, Romina. Experimental characterization and computational simulations of the low-velocity impact behaviour of polypropylene
The objective of this work is to validate predictive models for the simulation of the mechanical response of polypropylene undergoing impact situations. The transferability of material parameters deduced from a particular loading scenario (uniaxial loading) to a different loading situation (multiaxial loading) was studied. The material was modelled with a modified viscoplastic phenomenological model based on the G'Sell–Jonas equation. To perform the numerical simulations, a user-material subroutine (VUMAT) was implemented in the ABAQUS/explicit finite element code. Constitutive parameters for the model were determined from isostrain rate uniaxial tensile impact test data using an inverse calibration technique. In addition, falling-weight low-energy impact tests were performed on disc-shaped specimens at velocities in the range 0.7 to 3.13 m s−1. The model predictions were evaluated by comparison of the experimental and finite element response of the falling-weight impact tests. The G'Sell–Jonas model showed much better predictability than classical elastoplasticity models. It also showed excellent agreement with experimental curves, provided stress-whitening damage observed experimentally was accounted for in the model using an element failure criterionFil: Torres, Juan Pablo. Neoliberalismo: críticas y resistencias. Entrevista a Juan Pablo Rodríguez

In this interview with Juan Pablo Rodríguez, author of Resisting neoliberal capitalism in Chile: the possibility of social critique (2020), we address the main ideas and motivations behind the book and the research on which the book is based. We first explore the analysis the author makes of different theoretical critiques of contemporary neoliberal capitalism, and then we talk about the practices of embodied critiques carried out by social movements in Chile, focusing on the cases of the student and the pobladores movements
