Projektorientierte Seminare: Praxiserfahrungen für Studierende des Lehramts Technik
In der Ingenieurdidaktik der Technischen Universität Dortmund lernen Lehramtsstudierende projektorientiert. Dabei werden Schwerpunkte vorgegeben, die Studierende anhand eigenständig formulierter Projektziele bearbeiten. Abschließend bewerten und präsentieren sie ihre Ergebnisse. Diese Form des Lernens ist für die Berufstätigkeit der Studierenden bedeutsam, da Technikunterricht häufig projektorientiert gestaltet wird. Implementation of International Master’s Programmes in Engineering Education in Germany
[EN] This paper introduces the framework conditions of the internationalization
process of the higher education system in Germany and gives an overview of
the implementation of international Master’s programmes in engineering
education and the characteristics of student migrants in this field of studies.
Developments on the macro-level clearly indicate political interest to attract
more international students for German universities and the technical
disciplines in Germany are already very successful in this endeavour. With a
special focus on higher education reforms in engineering, this paper is based
on an investigation directed at the meso-level, the motivations and strategies
at the level of university and faculties for establishing such international
study programmes. The results of a qualitative study will be presented that
was conducted at the engineering faculties of the Ruhr-Universität in
Bochum between December 2014 and August 2015. With the overall aim of
investigating in how far the decisions made on university and faculty levels
are related to the general political endeavors to attract international talent,

Erfolgreiches Praxisbeispiel. Ein interaktives Blended-Learning-Seminar mit Praxisphase
Der Einsatz digitaler Lerntechnologien beeinflusst das Lernen und Lehren an Hochschulen maßgeblich. In der Praxis hat sich gezeigt, dass eine Kombination neuer Lernmedien in Verbindung mit präsenzbasierten Lern- und Lehrformen die höchste Akzeptanz erfährt. Die didaktischen Ansätze zur sinnvollen Verzahnung von E-Learning und Präsenzlernen im Rahmen von Blended-Learning-Konzepten stellen dabei zentrale Erfolgsfaktoren dar. Ein besonderes Blended-Learning-Konzept wird im Seminar „Qualitätsmanagement“ des Lehrstuhls Technik und ihre Didaktik der Technischen Universität Dortmund realisiert. Das Lern-Szenario ist von einem Fallbeispiel ausgehend sequenziert, um die Studierenden bei der Strukturierung ihres Lernprozesses zu unterstutzen und die Selbstlernphasen zu intensivieren. Durch eine ergänzende Praxisphase werden E-Learning und Präsenzlernen innerhalb der Veranstaltung besonders engmaschig verknüpft. High pressure differential scanning calorimetry of poly(lactic acid) in presence of CO2 up to 100 MPa
Art. 179076, 10 S.For the processing of sustainable polymers with compressed CO2 to produce innovative products, knowledge of the thermodynamic properties of the polymer-CO2 system is essential. In this work, the thermal behaviour of three different poly(lactic acid) (PLA) grades, 2003D, 3251D and 8052D, from NatureWorks was determined experimentally using high pressure differential scanning calorimetry (HP-DSC) at CO2 pressures up to 100 MPa. After the HP-DSC had been extensively calibrated using potassium, sodium and indium, the thermal transition temperatures of the biopolymers were determined as a function of CO2 pressure. The melting and crystallization temperatures of the PLA grades were found to be up to 84 K lower in the presence of CO2. In addition, the crystallinity of the three biopolymers was investigated. It was shown that the degree of crystallinity was dependent on both the melting temperature and the CO2 pressure. In fact, a striking parabolic dependency which is also correlated with D-lactide content and molar mass was observed.70
Numerical simulation of fluid flow and mixing dynamics inside planetary roller extruders
S.508-518In this contribution, the fluid flow and mixing dynamics inside planetary roller extruders are simulated using the finite element method (FEM) and the mesh superposition technique (MST). Three-dimensional configurations with planetary spindles of varying number and geometry of planetary spindles were created to analyse the influence of the spindle configuration and the rotational speed on the process behavior. Therefore, pressure gradients, flow velocities and directions, shear rates, the mixing index and residence time distributions were evaluated. The distributive and dispersive mixing efficiencies varied depending on the planetary spindle configuration, and these configurations thus suit different processing tasks. In comparison to the standard planetary spindles, the TT3 spindles, with their incomplete toothing, and the knob spindles, with their double transversal helical toothing, showed intense axial and radial mixing. In general, the mixing performance of the planetary roller extruder is explained by a high rate of extensional flow and frequent changes in flow type. The reported numerical approach allows, for the first time, a comprehensive observation of the process behavior of planetary roller extruders.36Nr.
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
