SIMONE DE BEAUVOIR, UNA LECTURA TRANSMODERNA
Framing it in her own memories and from a personal prism, Magda initially approaches the figure of Beauvoir considering the author in the autobiography of her work, and dwelling on her relationships and the tandem formed with Sartre. Once the person is considered, Magda turns to the author, entering into a discussion of "The Second Sex", and critically reviewing many of the positions adopted by Beauvoir in this work. Lastly, Magda analyzes the situation of a “transmodern feminism” examining its link with movements such as Existentialism and highlighting the challenges that still remain today regarding the conceptions that shape the image of women. Comics by Magda Dulčić
Salonu jugoslavenskog stripa u Vinkovcima. Iduća etapa u karijeri je kolaboracija sa suprugom Zvonkom Todorovskim, unutar multimedijalne grupe Divlje oko, gdje plasiraju stripove namijenjene galerijskom gledanju, a u izrazu Magda Dulčić pokazuje rezolutnu nadogradnju stila. Istovremeno, ostvaruje ciklus stripova za djecu u kojima pokazuje koherentan i jasan izričaj, suptilnih intervencija i eksperimenata. U posljednjim samostalnim stripovima, autorica ostvaruje djela lirskih, intimnih i intuitivnih preokupacija. This thesis focuses on the analysis of comics, creative phases and versatile artistic expression of Magda Dulčić (1965-2016), and her outstanding significance within the development of Croatian national comics. The multi-facetness of artistic interest is the main characteristic of Magda Dulčić as an artist, which makes her opus an intriguing subject for analysis. Following the inventions introduced by the group Novi kvadrat, and under the auspices of their member, Krešimir Zimonić, Magda Dulčić has been, since the early 1980's, creating many comics for fanzines, youth press, daily newspapers, comic magazines and children's magazines. Her comics can be found on the pages of Lucifer, Kurir, Patak, Vidici, Polet, Večernji list, Flit, Comicon, Modra lasta, Arkzin, Prvi izbor and Oblutak. The comics created by Magda Dulčić have an easily recognized style and characteristic formal elements. With her authentic poetics of expression, she stands out as one of the first relevant female authors on the comic art scene. Her colleagues, critics of popular culture and art historians also recognized this, so in 1988 she was awarded for comic innovation at the 4th Salon of Yugoslav Comics in Vinkovci. The next stage in her career was a collaboration with her husband, Zvonko Todorovski, within the multimedia group Divlje oko, where they created comics intended for gallery viewing. Regarding her expression, Magda Dulčić shows a more resolute change of style, thematically, visually and technically more complex. At the same time, she creates a cycle of comics for children in which she shows coherent and clear expressions, subtle interventions and experiments. In her latest independent comics, from 2010 until 2016, the author created works in which she displayed lyrical, intimate and intuitive preoccupations
Initially Magda approaches Beauvoir from a personal perspective, framing her in her own memories. Focusing on the autobiographical dimension of her work, she explores Beauvoir’s relationships and as Sartre’s partner. After considering Beauvoir as person, she turns to her as author to discuss “The Second Sex” and to critically examine the French author’s work. Finally, Magda analyses the situation of what she calls “transmodern feminism”, revising its connections with movements such as Existentialism and underlying the challenges that yet today mark the conceptualizations delineating the female image
A Fine Toothed Comb
The publication includes: essays by Lubaina Himid, Lauren Elkin, author of Art Monsters: Unruly Bodies in Feminist Art, Flaneuse: Women Walk the City in Paris, New York, Tokyo, Venice and London, and Clarissa Corfe.

A Fine Toothed Comb was an exhibition curated by Turner Prize-winning artist Lubaina Himid. Bringing together new commissions by Himid as well as artists Magda Stawarska, Rebecca Chesney and Tracy Hill, the exhibition focussed on unearthing hidden layers within the city of Manchester.
Through four unique installations spanning painting on found objects, multi-screen moving image, site-specific drawing and sound compositions, the artists’ work uncovered invisible geological, historical, environmental and political layers of the city. From hidden waterways and disappearing wildlife, to lost music and communities hidden in plain sight, A Fine Toothed Comb invited us to look closer at what surrounds us. This is the first time all four artists’ work was presented together, following many years of discussion and collaboration.

Light signal study of cosmic rays in the ICARUS detectors
The ICARUS liquid argon TPC, currently placed at Fermilab, is collecting data since 2022 exposed to Booster Neutrino Beam (BNB) and NuMi off-axis beam within the SBN program. A light detection system, based on PMTs deployed behind the TPC wire chambers, is in place to detect vacuum ultraviolet photons produced by ionizing particles in liquid argon. This system is fundamental for the detector operation, providing an efficient trigger and contributing to the 3D reconstruction of events. Moreover, since the TPC is exposed to a huge flux of cosmic rays due to its operations at shallow depths, the light detection system allows for the time reconstruction of events, contributing to the identification and to the selection of neutrino interactions within the beam spill gates. This contribution focuses on the light signals study devoted to improve the agreement between data and MC. In particular, the MC is tuned on data-basis modifying the light simulation's parameters related to the gain and to the quantum efficiency. © Copyright owned by the author(s) under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0)

Flora Tristan, Precursor Lecture by Magda Portal
A major figure in Latin American struggles for women\u27s rights and social justice, Magda Portal (1900-1989) co-founded the revolutionary nationalist APRA Party of Peru and was the principal women\u27s leader of that party. In her Chilean exile Portal discovered the nineteenth century writer and social reformer, Flora Tristan. In 1944 Portal offered her first lecture on Tristan (1803-1844)—a brilliant diarist and journalist as well as a seminal social theorist, labor organizer, champion of women\u27s rights, and a significant precursor—arguably co-founder—of socialist internationalism. Expanding and revising her initial account, Portal continued into her later years to lecture on Tristan, whom she revered as an exemplary social fighter. The introduction by Weaver, author of Peruvian Rebel, The World of Magda Portal, situates the lecture in the context of Portal\u27s own life and her evolving views on the role of women in a developing country, noting parallels between Portal\u27s life and that of Tristan. Portal\u27s admiring narrative starts with Tristan\u27s beginnings as the daughter of an aristocratic Peruvian landowner living in Spain and France, proceeding through the father\u27s death, the family\u27s impoverishment, and Tristan\u27s awakening to the social misery occasioned by rapid industrialization. Portal traces Tristan\u27s journey to Peru to present herself as a hopeful but unrecognized heir to her late father\u27s lands. The publication of Tristan\u27s Peruvian diaries is mentioned: an acerbic critique of a decadent colonial upper class. Portal also treats Tristan\u27s travels in industrial London; her attempts to organize workers throughout the industrial zones of France; her involvement with the Chartists, the Utopians, and the proto-socialist circles that included Marx and Engels; as well as her attempts to escape a homicidal husband when divorce in France was outlawed. Portal\u27s bibliography and notes are supplemented by translator\u27s notes and bibliographical references
Öröklődő tündérmesék: A családi mitológia jelenléte Szabó Magda és Jablonczay Lenke meséjében
In several of her autobiographically inspired works (such as Ókút or Für Elise), Magda Szabó referred to the fact that her mother, Lenke Jablonczay, was a published writer, whose extensive imagination greatly influenced her fairy tales, and without whom Tündér Lala, Sziget-kék, or Bárány Boldizsár would not have been possible. This raises the question of how Magda Szabó drew on her mother’s fairy tales, what identifiable elements and motifs she lifted from her stories, and how much the author relied on the so-called “family mythology”, which had been created by her mother in creating her own unique stories. In the present study, I compare Magda Szabó’s Tündér Lala, published in 1965, with her mother’s story A boldogság gyűrűje (‘The Ring of Happiness’), which was published in 1925 in the political daily Egyetértés as a serial story. In examining the similarities between the two works, I focus on the characteristics of world building and the peculiarities of the plot in the two stories. On the basis of these main aspects, I will take stock of the world-building devices of the two works (the use of space, the form of government, the diversity of the species inhabiting the two worlds, the existence of a science-centred world view, the use of language and words) and the congruent moments in the plots. My work shows that Magda Szabó not only drew on her mother’s story in creating the imagined world, but also adopted certain historical elements in writing the plot. Ehhez a világépítés (world building) és a történet, azaz a cselekmény jellegzetességeit helyezem előtérbe. E fő szempontok alapján sorra veszem a művekre vonatkozó világépítési eszközöket (a térhasználatot, az államformát, a két világot benépesítő fajok diverzitását, a tudományközpontú világszemlélet mibenlétét, a nyelvezet- és szóhasználatot), valamint a cselekmény egybecsengő momentumait. Megállapítom, hogy Szabó Magda nemcsak az elképzelt világ megteremtése során támaszkodhatott anyja történetére, hanem a cselekmény megírásakor is átemelhetett bizonyos elemeket
