CALEIDOSCOPIO Handbook

Digital Platforms for the Sustainability of Cultural Heritage
This work aims at contributing to research on cultural heritage sustainability, investigating the practices, the interactions, and the processes enhanced by digital platforms. In doing so, digital platforms ability in shaping a sustainable ecosystem has been highlighted, describing the interactions occurring between different actors to create shared value, inspired by the principles of sustainable development. The work has been intended to better understand the role innovative digital technologies and in particular digital platforms play in boosting a sustainable and circular approach to cultural heritage management. To this end, a transdisciplinary platform aimed at testing, implementing, and sharing new sustainable models of financing, business, and governance to be applied to the cultural heritage sector has been described and analyzed

Monaldi, Naples, Italy Abstract: The increasing number of opioid users among chronic pain patients, and opioid abusers among the general population, makes perioperative pain management challenging for health care professionals. Anesthesiologists, surgeons, and nurses should be familiar with some pharmacological phenomena which are typical of opioid users and abusers, such as tolerance, physical dependence, hyperalgesia, and addiction. Inadequate pain management is very common in these patients, due to common prejudices and fears. The target of preoperative evaluation is to identify comorbidities and risk factors and recognize signs and symptoms of opioid abuse and opioid withdrawal. Clinicians are encouraged to plan perioperative pain medications and to refer these patients to psychiatrists and addiction specialists for their evaluation. The aim of this review was to give practical suggestions for perioperative management of surgical opioid-tolerant patients, together with schemes of opioid conversion for chronic pain patients assuming oral or transdermal opioids, and patients under maintenance programs with methadone, buprenorphine, or naltrexone. Keywords: opioids, postoperative pain, addiction, abusers, buprenorphine, methadone
L’Europa e il «constitutional pluralism»: prospettive e limiti
Theories of constitutional pluralism have used the same conceptual root upon which pluralistic democracies have developed. However, the system level at which these theories work is different: if the concept of pluralism arises within the State framework, theories of constitutional pluralism are mainly aimed at inter-legislative relations, in particular in the context of the EU. The essay takes a critical look of five main features of this theories: 1) the incommensurability of the claims originating at different system levels (member States and EU); 2) the exclusion of any hierarchical logic in the configuration of relations between the EU and the Member States; 3) the lack of a unique, permanent structural or procedural solution in case of conflict between the different constitutional sites; 4) a concept of sovereignty that is completely open or "undecided; 5) finally, the substantial acceptance of the democratic deficit that characterises the EU. The author thinks that the road opened by constitutional pluralism should not be abandoned, but only perfected and made coherent
Postoperative Massive Pulmonary Embolism Due to Superficial Vein Thrombosis of the Upper Limb
: It is well known that deep vein thrombosis of the upper extremities is linked to high morbidity/mortality, resulting in 12-20% of all documented pulmonary embolism; however, there are few data about thromboembolism originating from a vein and/or a branch of a superficial vein of the upper extremities. Pulmonary embolism secondary to upper limb superficial vein thrombosis (not combined with upper extremities deep vein thrombosis) is a very rare clinical manifestation with few cases reported in the literature. We report a rare case of thrombophlebitis in departure from a superficial branch of the cephalic vein of the right arm, complicated by cardiac arrest secondary to a massive pulmonary embolism in a patient who underwent major surgery for ovarian cancer. We discuss on the numerous thrombotic risk factors, triggering a cascade of reactions and resulting in a potential fatal clinical manifestation
Postfazione.
The paper focuses on the theme of the federal phenomena, preferring a sincretic approach to the subject matter.
After the analysis of the different metods possibles for the study of this theme and after the analysis of the characteristics of the federal States, the author considers in his conclusions the relationship between the Federation and the States
Does Sustainable Performance Matter for Nonfinancial Disclosure Readability? A Fog Index Analysis on Italian-Listed Companies
This study aims to shed light on how corporate sustainable performance can influence the degree of nonfinancial disclosure (NFD) readability, determining which pillar of environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance has the most significant impact. To address these research questions, the study was conducted on a sample of Italian companies listed between 2017 and 2022, following the introduction of Directive 2014/95/EU. Using a panel regression, we aimed to examine the presence of a correlation between ESG performance and the readability of the reports (measured by the Gunning Fog index) employed by companies to disclose nonfinancial information. We successively conducted several robustness tests and verified the absence of multicollinearity and endogeneity. The results show that there is a positive and significant relationship between environmental performance and NFD readability, suggesting that companies with better environmental performance tend to make their disclosures more understandable and transparent. This result supports the signalling theory, according to which companies with good sustainability results try to distinguish themselves from others through clear and readable information. In contrast, no significant relationships are found for the social and governance dimensions, indicating that these variables may be less relevant in determining NFD readability. Practical implications highlight the importance of promoting accountability and transparency
in sustainability reporting. Regulators, on the other hand, could use these findings to refine existing regulations and introduce more stringent standards in terms of transparency and readability, to reduce the risk of greenwashing and improve the overall
quality of information provided to stakeholders
