This board-book version of LM turns out to be quite creative. Ratoncete comes from school every afternoon and goes through the forest looking for adventures. He apparently blasts a horn into the ear of the sleeping lion. Don Leon wants to spank him as a result, but Ratoncete offers an apology, not an offer of help. Later, he happens upon the lion in his trap of ropes. 8 pages, counting both covers. 6½" x 9".Language note: SpanishNo Autho

    Markets Equilibrium: The Is-Lm Model

    No full text
. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the concept of markets equilibrium: the IS-LM Model. This research uses library research method by using reference sources from books and journals according to the theme. The author uses a qualitative method which is explained graphically, namely the market balance of the IS-LM model where the focus is on money and goods markets associated with macroeconomics where researchers take the side of investors. The results of this study are that the balance in the economy is the point where the IS and LM curves intersect. This point provides an interest rate (r) and income level (Y) that satisfies the equilibrium conditions that occur in the goods market and money market. In other words, planned spending equals actual spending, and the demand for real money balances equals the supply. So that the IS-LM balance, it is stated that IS=LM

[Abstract]In this paper, The author tries to build a Dynamical IS-LM Model. The lnvestment depends on two factors, one is the rate of interest, and the other is the rate of prosperity yield of the investment. I will focus on the second factor. As was shown by Kaldor, the rate of prosperity yield has nonlinear fluctuations. By means of this character, This study proposes an IS-LM model that generates a cycle.departmental bulletin pape

This paper discusses the chaotic pseudo-random number generator (CPRNG), which is used in block cipher mode of operation called PM-DC-LM. PM-DC-LM is one of possible subversions of general PM mode. In this paper is not discussed the design of PM-DC-LM, but only CPRNG as a part of it because designing is written in other papers. Possibilities, how to change or to improve CPRNG are mentioned. The final part is devoted for a little testing of CPRNG and some testing data are shown. © 2016 Author(s)

The impact of the newer knowledge of nutrition: nutrition science and nutrition policy, 1900-1939.

Ideas concerning relationships between diet and health in the UK are traced from the 1904 Comittee on Physical Deterioration to the outbreak of World War II. Archive material is used to describe the often conflicting views of the Medical Research Council and the Ministry of Health and Board of Education concerning the public health applications of nutrition science. In particular, the work of the Ministry of Health's first Advisory Comittee on Nutrition, which was appointed in 1931, is reviewed and evaluated. The debate among public healh practitioners over the nature, cause and extent of the 'nutrition problem' is documented and the role in this debate of official dietary guidelines which appeared during the 1930s, is assessed. The Impact of the Newer Knowledge of Nutrition on welfare feeding policy Is evaluated in the context of the official promotion of milk feeding in schools. In particular, Corry Mann's experimental evidence which was used to endorse this policy, is reconsidered, and it is shown that the NRC view that the trial was proof of the presence in milk of a "growth factor" which produced preferential growth efficiency in adequately fed children , was in error. From a re-evaluation of the evidence it is suggested that the experiment merely recorded catch-up growth in a group of poorly nourished children. The view that there existed an extensive nutritional problem due to poor quality diets is examined and challenged. Both dietary survey data and anthropometric evidence are used to present the case that there was throughout the period studied a widespread problem of underfeeding among the poor and that intervention strategies based on the Newer Knowledge were not an appropriate method of dealing with this problem. This casts doubts on the widely held view that there was a need for nutrition education and suggests that the problem was one of poverty rather than Ignorance. Disaggregated anthropometric data located by the author are analysed according to NCHS standards to assess the prevalence of underfeeding. Significantly higher prevalences of stunting than low weight-for-age exist in all data sets; this phenomenon is considered in detail and low weight-for-age is proposed as the preferred index of malnutrition in 20th Century historical studies. Attention is drawn to the relevance of these studies for the current nutrition and public health debate

CF/LM-PAEK: Characterisation and sensitivity to critical process parameters for automated fibre placement

    No full text
This paper presents an investigation into Automated Fibre Placement process parameters for a novel carbon-fibre-reinforced thermoplastic material based on a low-melt polyaryl ether ketone polymer matrix (CF/LM-PAEK). The primary focus of this investigation is in-situ consolidation, with parameter sets for sample manufacturing selected based on a Design of Experiment method and analysed by means of mechanical and thermal testing. For in-situ consolidation, a maximum shear strength of 33.6 MPa and a crystallinity of 27.3% is achieved. Subsequent tempering increases shear strength up to 46.5 MPa and crystallinity up to 32%. The material was found to be insensitive to layup speed within the tested parameter range (1–15 m/min), achieving similar results for high layup speeds

Electrical power is used to turn on or run electronic devices that make human activities easier. In order to use electrical power in electronic devices, it is necessary to convert the power from strong current to weak current. The concept of converting strong current to weak current is implemented in the form of an adapter. In the lesson, the adapter utilizes the concept of a diode as an electric current rectifier. In the Electronics Engineering Education study program, especially at Jakarta State University, the application of the concept of diodes as rectifiers is outlined in the manufacture of DC adapters by students. Using IC LM 7805, the author made a DC adapter with 5V output as an application of the diode concept as a rectifier. The results of the adapter design show that the adapter output measurement results are 5V. This is directly proportional to the nature of the LM 7805 IC which regulates the output voltage entering the IC to 5V. Keywords: Adapter, Diode, Rectifier, IC LM 780

Generalized LM tests for functional form and heteroscedasticity

    No full text
We present a generalized LM test of heteroscedasticity allowing the presence of data transformation and a generalized LM test of functional form allowing the presence of heteroscedasticity. Both generalizations are meaningful as non-normality and heteroscedasticity are common in economic data. A joint test of functional form and heteroscedasticity is also given. These tests are further "studentized" to account for possible excess skewness and kurtosis of the errors in the model. All tests are easy to implement. They are based on the expected information and are shown to possess excellent finite sample properties. Several related tests are also discussed and their finite sample performances assessed. We found that our newly proposed tests significantly outperform the others, in particular in the cases where the errors are non-normal. Copyright 2008 The Author(s). This very large-format pamphlet reproduces Wielka Skarbnica Bajek, Ksiazka 1 (also 1989?). PML Editions is added on both covers and on the title-page but is not mentioned in the title-page account of the publisher. There is something of a mystery in the fact that the booklet's title is exactly the same as another; perhaps someone forgot to insert a Volume I and a Volume II. The title-page in each describes a set of five books, and the sets are different. The publication information is given both on the title-page and on the page facing the blank inside back cover. The T of C on the title page, repeated on the back cover, indicates that there are six stories here, five of which are fables. LM, BC, OF, and GA get two pages, and BF gets three. As always, the Tormont illustrations are big and bold. ©Dami Editore, Italie.Language note: FrenchTexte original: Peter Holeinone. Adaptation: Martin Des Rocher

Intrabronchial Infection of Rhesus Macaques with Simian Varicella Virus Results in a Robust Immune Response in the Lungs

    No full text
UnlabelledVaricella-zoster virus (VZV) is the etiological agent of varicella (chickenpox) and herpes zoster (shingles). Primary VZV infection is believed to occur via the inhalation of virus either in respiratory droplets or from shedding varicella lesions or by direct contact with infectious vesicular fluid. However, the ensuing immune response in the lungs remains incompletely understood. We have shown that intrabronchial inoculation of rhesus macaques with simian varicella virus (SVV), a homolog of VZV, recapitulates the hallmarks of acute and latent VZV infection in humans. In this study, we performed an in-depth analysis of the host immune response to acute SVV infection in the lungs and peripheral blood. We report that acute SVV infection results in a robust innate immune response in the lungs, characterized by the production of inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors as well as an increased frequency of plasmacytoid dendritic cells (DCs) that corresponded with alpha interferon (IFN-α) production and a rapid decrease in viral loads in the lungs. This is followed by T and B cell proliferation, antibody production, T cell differentiation, and cytokine production, which correlate with the complete cessation of viral replication. Although terminally differentiated CD8 T cells became the predominant T cell population in bronchoalveolar lavage cells, a higher percentage of CD4 T cells were SVV specific, which suggests a critical role for these cells in the resolution of primary SVV infection in the lungs. Given the homology between SVV and VZV, our data provide insight into the immune response to VZV within the lung.ImportanceAlthough primary VZV infection occurs primarily via the respiratory route, the host response in the lungs and its contribution to the cessation of viral replication and establishment of latency remain poorly understood. The difficulty in accessing lung tissue and washes from individuals infected with VZV has hampered efforts to address this knowledge gap. SVV infection of rhesus macaques is an important model of VZV infection of humans; therefore, we utilized this animal model to gain a comprehensive view of the kinetics of the immune response to SVV in the lung and its relationship to the resolution of acute infection in respiratory tissues. These data not only advance our understanding of host immunity to VZV, a critical step in developing new vaccines, but also provide additional insight into immunity to respiratory pathogens
