Experimental Investigation to Find the Strength of Ballast
Although ballast is only part of the substructure, it plays an important role in keeping the railway track in position. But less attention has been given to the substructure because the properties of the substructure are more varies and difficult to define than those of the superstructure. Research about ballast behaviours still needs to be developed. Objective of this research is to use Los Angeles Abrasion (LAA) and Aggregate Impact Value (AIV) test to analyse the strength of nature rock (NR), slag (S) and their different combination. Four different types of samples have been prepared for testing. LAA and AIVtest has been performed to assess the strength of the ballast. Finally, the result shows that the combination of slag and nature rock showed good results, even not really significantly. The result for 25%NR+75%S (LAA test) and 1NR+2S (AIV test) is 7,41% and 6,02%, respectively.</jats:p
Investigation of relationship between cone penetration test and unit weight in cohesive soil (Study case: Gunung Anyar District)
Cone Penetration Test or CPT is one of soil investigation which is used to determine the mechanical properties of soil i.e., cone resistance and sleeve friction. Since several decades ago, CPT is often used as a common thread to determine the physical properties of soil such as soil unit weight of soil, soil behaviour type, etc. Thus, empirical approaches have been developed from various countries. However, these empirical approaches are not the same as the condition in Indonesia. Therefore, it is necessary to obtain and develop the suitable correlation for the type of cohesive soil. In this study, primary and secondary data were carried out from Gunung Anyar area. From statical analysis result, the regression shows less than 60% similarity of the model. In addition, the result of this study found that silt and clay soil types were found to dominate in Gunung Anyar area
Correlation Between Cone Resistance Values and Cohesion Values in Cohesive Soils (Case Study in Gunung Anyar District)
The physical and mechanical properties of the soil can be determined based on laboratory tests by testing soil samples obtained from field drilling. At one point it can be done simultaneously between SPT testing and drilling. Therefore, it can be known simultaneously the value of N-SPT with the physical and mechanical properties of the soil. The purpose of this study was to obtain a relationship between the cone resistance value (qc) obtained in the field and the cohesion value for cohesive soil types. This study uses primary data, and secondary data. The results of the correlation between the cone resistance value (qc) obtained in the field and the cohesion value for cohesive soil types show a strong correlation. This is indicated by the regression value which reaches a value of 0.75, which is 0.7809. The regression equation obtained is y = 0.0138x – 0.0063. The coefficient of the cone resistance value is 0.0138, indicating that every 1 constant increase in the cone resistance value variable will increase the cohesive value in the cohesive soil by 0.0138. The positive regression coefficient indicates that the higher the cone resistance value (qc), the higher the value of cohesion (c) for cohesive soils
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. KARAKTERISTIK MARSHALL PADA CAMPURAN AC-WC DENGAN PENAMBAHAN BUBUK MAGNESIUM KARBONAT SEBAGAI BAHAN PENGISI
Lapisan AC-WC disebut sebagai lapisan aus karena berhubungan langsung dengan kendaraan dan cuaca serta memiliki ketebalan yang paling tipis dibandingkan lapisan lainnya. Untuk meningkatkan kualitas lapisan AC-WC, dapat dilakukan menggunakan material yang telah melalui tahap pengujian yaitu aspal, agregat, dan filler. Bubuk magnesium karbonat merupakan senyawa yang aman, efektif, dan ramah lingkungan untuk digunakan. Selain itu, bubuk magnesium karbonat memiliki beberapa kandungan senyawa kimia seperti magnesium oksida, kalsium oksida, silika, dan bijih besi yang dapat meningkatkan karakteristik suatu campuran. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui kadar aspal optimum (KAO), kadar filler optimum, dan pengaruh penambahan bubuk magnesium karbonat sebagai filler pada campuran AC-WC menggunakan metode pengujian Marshall sesuai dengan Spesifikasi Umum Bina Marga Tahun 2018 (Revisi 2). Pada penelitian ini, menggunakan variasi kadar aspal yaitu 5,52%, 6,52%, dan 7,52%, serta variasi kadar filler yaitu 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, dan 4%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh kadar aspal optimum (KAO) sebesar 6,40% dan kadar filler optimum yaitu sebesar 0,75%. Penambahan bubuk magnesium karbonat sebagai filler dapat meningkatkan nilai stabilitas, MQ, VIM, dan VMA, tetapi mengurangi nilai flow dan VFA pada campuran AC-WC. Sehingga bubuk magnesium karbonat dapat meningkatkan kekuatan pada perkerasan jalan. Namun, penambahan bubuk magnesium karbonat secara berlebihan dapat menyebabkan perkerasan jalan menjadi berongga dan mengalami kerusaka
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
