Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDFThe application of the abstraction method allowed us to identify the characteristics of the conceptual principles of forming a favorable investment climate in the economic system of Ukraine, which made it possible to analyze the spectrum of investment design in the field of housing reconstruction in the context of economic revitalization. The article analyzes the volume of capital investments in the economy of Ukraine by financing sources, the volume of capital investments by types of economic activity by regions, and identifies the most priority investment projects in the construction sector by the volume of investment capital attracted.
In the conditions of destabilization of the economic environment in Ukraine and the unpredictability of the development of its economic sphere, a comprehensive analysis of multidirectional phenomena and processes in the available options for their global manifestation is necessary. After all, the corresponding transformational transformations are gaining global significance and are a catalyst for structural and institutional shifts. In the conditions of active hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, the issue of reconstruction of the housing stock is one of the primary and strategically important for the functioning of the economic system of the state. Therefore, the issue of conducting a comprehensive analysis of the state of the investment climate of the Ukrainian economy through the prism of investment planning in the field of reconstruction of the housing stock is gaining priority. The following general scientific and applied research methods were used in the research process: analysis and synthesis, deduction and induction - in the process of selecting features that significantly complicate the process of effectively forming the features of investment planning in Ukraine; systematization and generalization - in the process of analyzing the research question among groups of scientists both in Ukraine and abroad; monographic methods - for in-depth study of the tasks set; abstract-logical methods - for theoretical generalization of research results and formulation of conclusions and proposals.
The originality lies in substantiating the list of main obstacles and risks of low investment activity in the field of housing reconstruction in Ukraine, which consist in the imperfection of the institutional environment. The corresponding situation causes a violation of the conditions of competitiveness of the domestic economy in the field of housing; insufficient development of the domestic real estate market in Ukraine; growth of inflation, which leads to the depreciation of savings of the population; formation of a low level of protection of additional capital of a potential investor and other key problematic aspects that form a general negative synergistic effect when analyzing the state of the investment climate of the economic system of the state.Анотація. Застосування методу абстракції дозволило виділити характеристики концептуальних засад формування сприятливого інвестиційного клімату економічної системи України, що дозволило забезпечити проведення аналізу спектру інвестиційного проєктування в сфері реконструкції житлового фонду в умовах ревіталізації економіки.
У статті проаналізовано обсяг капітальних інвестицій в економіку України у розрізі джерел фінансування, обсяг капітальних інвестицій за видами економічної діяльності у розрізі регіонів, визначено найбільш пріоритетні інвестиційні проєкти сектору будівництва за обсягом залучення інвестиційного капіталу. У процесі дослідження були використані такі загальнонаукові та прикладні методи дослідження: аналізу і синтезу, дедукції та індукції — у процесі вибору ознак, що суттєво ускладнюють процес ефективного формування особливостей інвестиційного проєктування в Україні; систематизації та узагальнення – у процесі проведення аналізу досліджуваного питання серед груп науковців як в Україні, так і закордоном; монографічні методи – для поглибленого дослідження поставлених завдань; абстрактно-логічні методи – для теоретичного узагальнення результатів дослідження і формулювання висновків та пропозицій.
Результати дослідження мають практичне значення для вітчизняних та закордонних інвесторів, бізнес-аналітиків, підприємців. Отримані результати відтворюють пріоритетні постулати для формування комплексу заходів у напрямку покращення стану інвестиційного клімату економіки України в контексті забезпечення ефективного проєктування в сфері реконструкції житлового фонду.
Оригінальність полягає в обґрунтуванні переліку основних перешкод та ризиків низької інвестиційної активності в сфері реконструкції житлового фонду в Україні, що полягають у недосконалості інституційного середовища. Відповідна ситуація обумовлює порушення умов конкурентоспроможності вітчизняної економіки в сфері житлового фонду; недостатній розвиненості внутрішнього ринку нерухомості в Україні; зростання інфляції, що призводить до знецінення заощаджень населення; формування низького рівня захищеності додаткового капіталу потенційного інвестора та інших ключових проблемних аспектів, які формують загальний негативний синергетичний ефект при аналізі стану інвестиційного клімату економічної системи держави

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
