IlTratatello delle indulgentie de Terra Sanctasecondo il ms. 1106 della biblioteca Augusta di Perugia: edizione e note linguistiche
The research focused on the study of ms. 1106 (= F), one of the witnesses of the Treaty
of the Holy Land and the East of the Franciscan missionary Francesco Suriano (Venice
1450-Assisi 1529ca.).
The main objective of research was the realization of the scientific edition of F (yet
unpublished) and detailed analysis of the language of the text.
The work involved, at first, the transcription of 157 cc. of the codex, produced in the
monastery of St. Mary Monteluce of Perugia and now kept in the Augusta Library of
Perugia. Secondly, the realization of the description of manuscript; the results of the
comparison between F and contemporaries codices of Monteluce; handwriting analysis
of F; the study of textual tradition; a comprehensive inventory of mss. of Monteluce and
S. Lucia di Foligno; a brief biography of the author; a collation of F with other witnesses
yet known of the Treaty, another ms. (P) and the princeps (B).
Finally, we have conducted in deep linguistics investigations on F, which made
possible to point out, next to strong local aspects consistent with the area of origin of
the ms., Umbria, other elements which are attributable to its complex layering, to explain
the articulated composition story of the text. In particular, there were (mainly in the
phonetic) features that tracked back to the language of northern Italy, to explain the
venetian origin of Suriano
A historical Addendum to the episcopal Lists of Caria
In light of a recently published attempt to list all the episcopal hierarchy of the Ecclesia Orientalis, it seems more reasonable to the author to confine a similar project of his own to a smaller geography: that of Caria. The paper's aim lies mainly in its methodological approach to the theme, apart from complementing various gaps in the lists already produced. New disciplines have been called upon: epigraphy, sigillography, hagiography appear on the scene, and their support is not intended merely to supplement a name in a list, but rather to enlarge the historical parabola of the cities' s medieval development. Episcopal patronage becomes evident throughout the province until the 6th-7th cent., but thereafter the episcopal presence begins to fluctuate, a phenomenon which ends in the decay of urban continuity at many sites from the 10th cent, onwards.REB 54 1996 France p. 221-234.
V. Ruggieri, A historical Addendum to the episcopal Lists of Caria. Ruggieri Vincenzo. Leprosy Neuropathy in a Non-Endemic Area: A Clinical and Pathological Study
The extent of nerve involvement in leprosy is highly variable in distribution and clinical presentation. Mononeuropathies, multiple mononeuropathies, and polyneuropathies can present both in the context of a cutaneous and/or systemic picture and in the form of pure neuritic leprosy (PNL). The differential diagnosis of leprosy neuropathy remains challenging because it is a very rare condition and, especially in Western countries, is often overlooked. We report one case of the polyneuropathic form of PNL (P-PNL) and one case of multiple mononeuropathy in paucibacillary leprosy. In both cases, the diagnosis was achieved by performing a sural nerve biopsy, which showed subverted structure, severe infiltration of inflammatory cells in nerve fascicles, granulomatous abnormalities, and the presence of alcohol-acid-resistant, Ziehl–Neelsen-positive bacilli inside the nerve bundles. Leprosy remains an endemic disease in many areas of the world, and globalization has led to the spread of cases in previously disease-free countries. In this perspective, our report emphasizes that the diagnostic possibility of leprosy neuropathy should always be taken into account, even in Western countries, in the differential diagnostic process of an acquired sensory polyneuropathy or multineuropathy and confirms that nerve biopsy remains a useful procedure in working up neuropathies with unknown etiology
ACERCA DEL TÉRMINO ὕσπληγξ EN LAS INSCRIPCIONES DE AFRODISIAS
The author aims at checking the several meanings of the word ὕσπληγξ starting with the most unusual one, found at a funeral inscription from Aphrodisias in Caria ('CIG' 2824). Here, ὕσπληγξ names the enclosing-wall of a tomb-chamber, but this sense does not completely agree with the ones shown by different sources. A review of every quotation from inscriptions, literary authors and atticist lexica is made. The author concludes that the peculiar meaning of ὕσπληγξ at Aphrodisias in Caria is due to the use of a popular standard or 'Volkssprache', provided by the characteristic specialization of a technical context. The author aims at checking the several meanings of the word ὕσπληγξ starting with the most unusual one, found at a funeral inscription from Aphrodisias in Caria ('CIG' 2824). Il sappadino
This article focuses on the linguistic and sociolinguistic situation of Sappada – Plodn, a village in the Carnic Alps, which – just as the close Sauris and Timau – differs from the rest of its neighbouring villages as it is an ancient settlement of Austrian-Bavarian origin. In this essay, the author will provide an outline of Sappada’s historical origins and focus on a description of its peculiar Germanic dialect, which is still preserved and spoken by the local population. Then the initiatives to protect Sappada’s linguistic heritage will be illustrated from a sociolinguistic point of view, also in the light of the most important traditions that make the village a very important tourist attraction
