V okviru anketne smo uporabili tudi prilagojen vprašalnik operativnega in vprašalnik organizacijskega stresa s katerima smo ugotavljali kateri stresorji so policistom povzročili največ stresa v zadnjih 6 mesecih. The police profession is definitely one of the most stressful ones. Therefore, the selection of suitable job candidates itself is of great importance. Police officers should carry out their work in a lawful and professional way, respecting the human and fundamental rights. They should be familiar with the laws and regulations and regularly follow the changes in these fields. Police officers can use powers of constraint to act against the offenders according to the principle of proportionality. During their work, which mainly takes place in field, they often cope with various stressful situations and even dangerous procedurestherefore, they are offered a 24/7 psychological assistance as well as the support by police officer confidants. This thesis presents the possibilities of providing the above-mentioned support. A survey at the Police Directorate Kranj was carried out to determine to what extent the police officers use such support or do not use it because of prejudices. It was assumed that the police officers face stress but deal with it in a suitable and timely manner. The survey also featured an adapted operative and organisational stress questionnaire, which helped us determine which stressors caused the majority of stress to police officers in the last 6 month. In addition, an interview with the senior police inspector and psychologist Mirjana Savić was carried out. This thesis describes the selection process of police officer candidates. Furthermore, the stress types, symptoms and phases are defined. We focused on stressors at the workplace of a police officer and studied the consequences of stress for individuals and the organisation as a whole

MeSH term explosion and author rank improve expert recommendations

Information overload is an often-cited phenomenon that reduces the productivity, efficiency and efficacy of scientists. One challenge for scientists is to find appropriate collaborators in their research. The literature describes various solutions to the problem of expertise location, but most current approaches do not appear to be very suitable for expert recommendations in biomedical research. In this study, we present the development and initial evaluation of a vector space model-based algorithm to calculate researcher similarity using four inputs: 1) MeSH terms of publications; 2) MeSH terms and author rank; 3) exploded MeSH terms; and 4) exploded MeSH terms and author rank. We developed and evaluated the algorithm using a data set of 17,525 authors and their 22,542 papers. On average, our algorithms correctly predicted 2.5 of the top 5/10 coauthors of individual scientists. Exploded MeSH and author rank outperformed all other algorithms in accuracy, followed closely by MeSH and author rank. Our results show that the accuracy of MeSH term-based matching can be enhanced with other metadata such as author rank

Mapping Industry 4.0 Innovation: A spatial analysis of Industry 4.0 in Sweden : A spatial distribution study of patent statistics in Sweden between 2017-2023

Economic geography is an important subject for policymakers when it comes to technological change and as development of Industry 4.0 is an important topic, the subject will only increase in importance. The purpose of the study was to map and analyse the spatial distribution of Industry 4.0 innovation activity in Sweden from 2017 to 2023 with the objective to find major innovation hubs and construct a patent dataset representing Industry 4.0 innovation. Earlier research suggested that the innovative activity should be clustered around the major metropolitan areas as they possess the necessary externalities. Theory further suggests that outliers in the data can be found in proximity to nearby universities or firms with high R&D investment. The findings show that the distribution mostly follows the expected pattern with some localised innovation hubs depending on the analysed variable. Policymakers can use these findings to understand the spatial properties of Industry 4.0 to make regional policies more effective

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Both spending and tax policies have been implemented in the United States with the goal of stimulating private sector research and development (R&D). Karier questions whether current R&D policy, especially the research and experimentation tax credit, can contribute to closing the gap between nondefense expenditures on R&D in the United States and such expenditures in other countries, such as Japan and Germany. He also explores possible changes to our current R&D policy to make it more effective.
