Wi-Fi Supported Networked Computer-on-Module for IoT

    No full text
With the arrival of Internet of Things (IoT) era, a large number of IoT based applications are springing up. It is estimated that the number of IoT devices will reach to 20-200 billion. Wi-Fi has been widely used in the past decade because of the high data transmission rate, wide signal coverage and low radiation. By using the existing Wi-Fi network resources to implement IoT communication, the device cost can be dramatically reduced. In this thesis work, aiming to provide a low cost low power IoT solution with high flexibility and shorten product development time, a Wi-Fi supported networked Computer-on-Module (COM) is designed. It adopts an ultra-low-power and reconfigurable Application Specific Instruction Set Processor (ASIP)—FC3180 and a WLAN SoC designed by Marvell—88W8686, which are connected over SPI bus. To enable Wi-Fi connectivity in software, WLAN driver and IEEE 802.11 network stack are developed in C language. The Wi-Fi driver is implemented into five parts: SPI interface driver, firmware management, control flow, data path, and TCP/IP stack interface. In order to improve the system performance, the WLAN driver is optimized in several ways during development. In the IEEE 802.11 network stack, a WPA/WPA2-PSK supplicant is implemented to add the support for the Wi-Fi networks using WPA/WPA2-PSK encryption mode. In order to verify the system functionality, a prototype of the COM is manufactured and is applied in a sensor system. Tests on the COM are carried out in the sensor system and the experimental results show that the system works properly

    Praskie Sci-Fi (Praga’s Sci-Fi)

Not so long ago in a galaxy not so far, far away… On the planet of markets, shrines, metro, stadiums and theatre… It is a time of change. A time of chaos. A time of courageous visions laced with powerless questions. Regeneration proceeds, the facades of the old town houses begin to look fresh, and Mr Jozek is moving out. Before Praga transports itself into the future – before the Great Reanimation/Reactivation/Revision/Retouch takes place – there is still time to ask about the costs necessary for us to bear in the name of a “better tomorrow”. Presence is unsure. Past is discredited. The future is a source of fear, anything can happen. Meanwhile today one of the Praga’s newsagent is already saying: “Praga is one huge science-fiction”. Who needs a home in a place like Praga? Full of doubts, searching for an answer to a question: what to do? (and shall we do it at all?) The artists of Theatre Powszechny contemplate Praga’s destiny. The possible scenarios for revitalisation and their own participation in gentrification. This performance is based on conversations with Praga’s residents and actors of Theatre Powszechny; involving elements of science-fiction and wishful thinking. Yeah, sure. It’s best to build a Museum-Crematorium and a Theatre- Aquarium. And let the hipsters cycle around the theatre with flowerpots. Aliens from the left bank are organising dissent. They give paintbrushes to children and anvils to craftsmen. How noble. "Praskie Sci-Fi" (Praga’s Sci-Fi) was created as a part of Miasto Szczesliwe Festival at Teatr Powszechny in Warsaw, Poland. It premiered on the 10th of July 2016 and since then it has been in the repertoire of Teatr Powszechny

Lasten motoriikan oppimisvaikeuden tunnistaminen – Opettajien tekemien lasten motorista suoriutumista koskevien ennakkoarvioiden ja MOQ-T-FI-lomakkeen tulosten vastaavuus 6–9-vuotiailla lapsilla

Tässä tutkimuksessa vastattiin kolmeen tutkimuskysymykseen koskien lasten motoriikan oppimisvaikeuden tunnistamista 6–9-vuotiailla lapsilla. Ensimmäisenä selvitettiin, miten hyvin opettajien ennakkoarviot 6–9-vuotiaiden lasten motorisesta suoriutumisesta vastasivat Motor Observation Questionnaire for Teachers Finland, MOQ-T-FI-lomakkeen tuloksia. Opettajat olivat arvioineet kaikilla ”suuri motoriikan oppimisvaikeuden riski”-ryhmään kuuluvilla lapsilla olevan mahdollisesti tai suurella todennäköisyydellä haasteita uusien motoristen taitojen oppimisessa.

Up to now only a small fraction of the Gamow-Teller (GT) sum rule is known to be exhausted in the spectrum of 8 Li. 8 He fi-decay to the 6 Li+n+n channel is studied as a process which may indicate the concentration of GT strength at high excitation energies (near 9 Permanent address: The Kurchatov Institute, Kurchatov Sq.1, 123182, Moscow, Russia y Permanent address: The Kurchatov Institute, Kurchatov Sq.1, 123182 Moscow, Russia MeV) in the spectrum of 8 Li. An estimate of the branching ratio is obtained with a COSMA 8 He wave function and a three-body 6 Li+n+n continuum. 1 Introduction 8 He fi-decay to different channels in the 8 Li nucleus is relatively well studied experimentally [1, 2]. These decays are interesting because of the serious impact of this process on our understanding of the nuclear structure both of 8 He and 8 Li [3]. 8 He is characterized by the largest neutron-to-proton ratio among all known bound nuclei and was found to have an exten..

Aspects of administrative support in implementing inclusive education : a case study of three finnish comprehensive schools

    No full text
Inclusive education is about all learners having a right to go to their local schools and receive support in learning there, instead of placing some learners in special schools and classrooms. It is a question of equality and human rights. In Finland, equality is highly appreciated, but the municipalities have differences in the implementation of inclusive education. Administration plays a role in supporting the implementation of inclusive education; however, inclusion requires changes to the whole educational organisation. The purpose of this study is to find out how inclusive education is implemented and how the administration supports it. This is a qualitative case study of three comprehensive schools in one Finnish municipality. The data have been collected from principals, teachers, administrators and decision makers. Official documents serve as additional sources. The research data have been analysed by using theory-guided content analysis. The research shows that inclusive education is implemented in schools in diverse ways. The teachers and principals seem to be open to try courageously new methods and solutions. The role of the administration is to create a working culture and resources so that this is possible. In addition, there needs to be firm guidance in the legislation and curricula since they provide the framework for school work. It also seems that knowledge and understanding, in addition to the right attitude is needed at every level of the educational organisation. Overall, a flexible organisational structure, openness to learning and development and a few pioneers to lead the change are needed

    Cli-Fi: A Companion

    No full text
Climate change fiction is a new literary phenomenon that emerged at the turn of the twenty-first century in response to what may be society’s greatest challenge. Climate change is already part responsible for extreme weather events, flooding, desertification and sea level rise, leading to famine, the spread of disease, and population displacement. Cli-fi novels and films are typically set in the future, telling of disaster and its effect on humans, or they depict the present, beset by dilemmas, conflicts or conspiracies, and pointing to grave consequences. At their heart are ethical and political questions: will humankind rise to the challenge of acting collectively, in the interest of the future? What sacrifices will be necessary, and is a green dictatorship our only hope for survival as a species? Each chapter in this volume offers a way of reading a particular literary text or film, drawing attention to themes, formal features, reception, contribution to public debate, and issues for class discussion. Popular novels and films (Kim Stanley Robinson’s Science in the Capitol trilogy, Michael Crichton’s State of Fear, Ian McEwan’s Solar, and The Day after Tomorrow) are examined alongside lesser known writing (for instance J. G. Ballard’s «proto-climate change» novel The Drowned World and Antti Tuomainen’s Finnish thriller, The Healer), and films not generally thought of as being about climate change (Frozen and Take Shelter). The book, which includes an introduction tracing the emergence and influence of cli-fi, is directed towards general readers and film enthusiasts as well as teachers and students. Written in an accessible style, it fills the gap between academic studies and online blogs, offering a comprehensive look at this timely new genre.</p
