Education and Training in Montserrat:A Partially Annotated Bibliography
This bibliography on “Education and Training in Montserrat” has been specifically prepared for the UWI School of Continuing Studies’ Montserrat Conference (2002). An attempt has been made to be as comprehensive as possible, but because of the weak bibliographical coverage of the literature of the region, important items may have been omitted. This is especially true for policy documents emanating from official sources

+34917748000; Fax +34917748026; [email protected]
Quality indicators for the acute and long-term management of anaphylaxis: a systematic review
Background: the quality of acute and long-term anaphylaxis management is variable and this contributes to the poor outcomes experienced by many patients. Clinical practice guidelines have the potential to improve outcomes, but implementing guideline recommendations in routine practice is challenging. Quality indicators have the potential to support guideline implementation efforts. Objective: to identify quality indicators to support the acute and long-term management of anaphylaxis. Methods: we conducted a systematic review of the literature that involved searching Medline, EMBASE and CINAHL databases for peer-reviewed published literature for the period 1 January 2005-31 December 2015. Additionally we searched Google for grey and unpublished literature. The identified indicators were descriptively summarized against the most recent international anaphylaxis guidelines (i.e. those produced by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology) and critically evaluated using the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's criteria for indicator development. Results: our searches revealed 830 publications, from which we identified five sources for 54 indicators addressing both acute (n = 27) and long-term (n = 27) management of anaphylaxis. The majority of indicators were developed through expert consensus with relatively few of these having been formally piloted or tested to demonstrate that they could discriminate between variations in practice and/or that they were sensitive to change. Conclusions: there is a need for a comprehensive set of quality indicators for anaphylaxis management. We have however identified some indicators for the acute and long-term management of anaphylaxis that could with relatively little additional work support efforts to translate guideline recommendations into clinical care

Identification and developmental expression of the ets gene family in the sea urchin (Strongylocentrotus purpuratus)
AbstractA systematic search in the available scaffolds of the Strongylocentrotus purpuratus genome has revealed that this sea urchin has 11 members of the ets gene family. A phylogenetic analysis of these genes showed that almost all vertebrate ets subfamilies, with the exception of one, so far found only in mammals, are each represented by one orthologous sea urchin gene. The temporal and spatial expression of the identified ETS factors was also analyzed during embryogenesis. Five ets genes (Sp-Ets1/2, Sp-Tel, Sp-Pea, Sp-Ets4, Sp-Erf) are also maternally expressed. Three genes (Sp-Elk, Sp-Elf, Sp-Erf) are ubiquitously expressed during embryogenesis, while two others (Sp-Gabp, Sp-Pu.1) are not transcribed until late larval stages. Remarkably, five of the nine sea urchin ets genes expressed during embryogenesis are exclusively (Sp-Ets1/2, Sp-Erg, Sp-Ese) or additionally (Sp-Tel, Sp-Pea) expressed in mesenchyme cells and/or their progenitors. Functional analysis of Sp-Ets1/2 has previously demonstrated an essential role of this gene in the specification of the skeletogenic mesenchyme lineage. The dynamic, and in some cases overlapping and/or unique, developmental expression pattern of the latter five genes suggests a complex, non-redundant function for ETS factors in sea urchin mesenchyme formation and differentiation

Food Allergy Severity Score Diagram (English)
The Food Allergy Severity Score (FASS) is an instrument developed and validated to score the severity of allergic reactions elicited by foods. FASS has three formats that can be mapped to each other consistently: two ordinal scores with 3 (oFASS-3) or 5 grades (oFASS-5), and a numerical score (nFASS). The development and validation are reported in the manuscript of Fernández-Rivas et al. published in Allergy (https://doi.org/10.1111/all.15165).The FASS was developed under the ARADyAL Research Network (RD16/0006/0009) and the BIOGRIAL-SEVERAL (PI19/01095) project cofounded by the Ministry of Science of the Spanish Government and FEDER (European Regional Development Fund)
