Schizophrenia is a lifelong, severe mental health disorder characterized by significant disability, disrupted psychosocial functioning, and premature mortality. Typically emerging in early adolescence, schizophrenia imposes a substantial healthcare burden worldwide. This thesis provides a comprehensive examination of fluid biomarkers and metabolic pathways during the onset and progression of psychosis, with a particular focus on first-episode psychosis (FEP).The pathophysiology of schizophrenia is linked to neurotransmitter activities such as dopamine, glutamate, and γ-aminobutyric acid, giving rise to several theories including those of dopamine, glutamate, kynurenic acid, and neuroinflammation. There is an urgent need to identify new drug targets to develop more effective medications that goes beyond symptomatic management of psychosis, emphasizing the limitations in current treatments. Omics studies, including proteomics and metabolomics, could revolutionize schizophrenia treatment by offering a more systematic approach to identifying drug response markers and minimizing adverse effects in therapies. Through metabolomics and proteomics analyses of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum metabolites, this research identifies crucial alterations that indicates the potential of these biomarkers in diagnosing and monitoring schizophrenia and related disorders. Collectively, these studies deepen our understanding of the biological underpinnings of psychosis and support the development of biomarker-based diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. This research highlights the intricacy of schizophrenia, which involves a complex interplay of metabolic, genetic, and inflammatory factors.List of scientific papersI. Isil, who is a successful copywriter, lives in Istanbul and is visited by her mother, whom she hasn?t seen for a long time. Isil doesn?t have a great relationship with her mother and the only support in her life is her cousin, Eren, who has been in her life since their childhood. However, at that time, she learns that Eren is going to move to Germany with his boyfriend. She forgets about the situation with her mother and starts struggling for him to stay. Our other protagonist, Saadet, is eight years old, and her father abandons the family. Saadet?s cousin, also named Eren, starts staying with her as decided by the family members so that Saadet wouldn?t be traumatized. Soon, she learns that she and her mother are going to move to Ankara to live with her grandmother. Saadet doesn?t want to go, so with her cousin Eren, she starts searching for different ways to stay in Istanbul. Isil and Saadet, whose lives intersect during such a period, find out that they have other similarities apart from the fact that their cousins share the same name. Isil, inspired by Saadet?s courage, realizes that she has always ignored the main problems, and faces the father issue, which is a radical influence in her life. The point where she explores the essence of that problem is the point, which changes the lives of both

same nation or the same author in terms of subject, motivation, and form. It is also possible that the studies in this discipline, whose exact boundaries cannot be mentioned, can address these three items together, or two or only one of them. This discipline, which emphasizes the similar and different sides of the texts, also emphasizes the causes of differences and similarities. This branch of science, which sees literature as a whole, aims to find all possible affinities of intercultural and intertextual relations and their reasons in works of different or the same period. In this context, the main criterion is that suitable motifs or thoughts can be handled in a common context in terms of comparability. In this study, Les Fleurs du Mal of Charles Baudelaire; The poem titled a Conversation Between God and Man by Muhammed Ikbal and the art poem of Arif Nihat Asya was primarily studied thematically. Different and common aspects of the texts were emphasized. The 'Pluralist Method' used in comparative literature science was taken as the basis.Karsilastirmali edebiyat bilimi, farkli uluslara ya da ayni ulus veya ayni yazara ait en az iki eserin konu, düsünce ve biçim açisindan incelenmesini esas alir. A secure and efficient inventory management system for disasters

Over the last three decades, disasters worldwide claimed more than 3 million lives and adversely affected the lives of at least 1 billion people (Noji, 1997). Regarding the threats posed by these disasters, emergency disaster management has emerged as a vital tool to reduce the harm and alleviate the suffering these disasters can cause to their victims. A significant task of planners involved in emergency disaster management is planning for and satisfying the vital needs of the people located in emergency shelters such as the Superdome in New Orleans. This thesis proposes a novel and comprehensive framework for the development of a humanitarian emergency inventory management system based on the real-time tracking of emergency supplies and demands through the integration of emerging technologies such as Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFID) for commodity tracking and logistics. The novelty of this thesis is that, for the first time in the emergency inventory management field, the proposed approach combines an offline planning strategy with online control techniques in a unified framework. Within this framework, the offline planning problem is solved by the stochastic humanitarian inventory management approach, whereas the online modeling strategies include the application of neural network-based functional approximation, simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation (SPSA), and continuous time model predictive control (CMPC) techniques. Unlike previous studies, the flexibility of the proposed inventory management and control model allows the application of the developed mathematical model to extreme events making online real-time tracking possible. Realistic case studies built using information available from past disasters are used to examine the differences in inventory strategies for different types of disasters based on the impact area and duration of the extreme event. The proposed methodology is also capable of representing and understanding real-life cases where uncertainty and limitations on the inventory levels and flow of supplies can be modeled by introducing different levels of stochasticity and real-life constraints. The overall findings of this thesis have pointed out that the proposed integrated framework can be efficiently used for emergency inventory planning and inventory control during disaster relief operations without ignoring the real-world uncertainties, fluctuations, and constraints of disaster conditions.Ph.
