While reading the « Letters to Lou » of Guillaume Apollinaire.
The author reviews several passages on pharmaceutical subjects in the love letters written between 1914 and 1916 by the poet Guillaume Apollinaire (1880-1918) to Louise de Coligny-Châtillon. They concern white arsenic granules or Dioscoride's granules, treatments for anemia, influenza and stomach-ache, the dentifrice Bi-oxyne, and an oral vaccine against typhoid.Julien Pierre. Design Thinking in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College
abstract: Design Thinking is a popular topic and problem-solving method that is gaining attention and being used more and more often across disciplines in recent years such as “IT, Business, Education and Medicine” (Dorst, 2011). Its ability to address wicked problems, problems that are inherently complex and socially layered, has branded it an attractive and useful problem-solving method for a wide range of industries and consequently a wide range of problems. Its human centered and empathetic approach to addressing problems also paints design thinking to be an action-based method that works well with interdisciplinary teams in which all members have the same desired end. More recently, its use has expanded to the field of education and is being cited as a way to develop 21st century learners and redefine the field of education as a whole. This paper intends to examine design thinking in the context of the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College of Arizona State University specifically. The goals of this paper are to define design thinking for the educational field, examine and analyze the methods of it use, as well as determine the purpose for exposing undergraduate education students to the process. Through expert interviews of faculty and staff members that were analyzed for common themes and other consistencies, an understanding of how the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College defines design thinking is obtained, as well as the various uses and applications of design thinking skills and process for the field of education. The paper describes multiple areas in which design thinking is being implemented internally, externally, and within teacher preparation curriculum through the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College and details the four main reasons for exposing future teachers to design thinking practices and principles
Shape optimization of shear fracture specimen considering plastic anisotropy
It is important to fabricate fracture specimens with minimum variation of triaxiality in order to characterize the failure behaviors experimentally. Fracture in ductile materials is usually calibrated by uniaxial tensile, shear and plane strain tests. However, it is often observed that triaxiality for shear specimen changes severely during shear fracture test. The nonlinearity of triaxiality is most critical for shear test. In this study, a simple in-plane shear specimen is optimized by minimizing the variation of stress triaxiality in the shear zone. In the optimization, the Hill48 and Yld2000-2d criteria are employed to model the anisotropic plastic deformation of an aluminum alloy of 6k21. The evolution of the stress triaxiality of the optimized shear specimen is compared with that of the initial design of the shear specimen. The comparison reveals that the stress triaxiality changes much less for the optimized shear specimen than the evolution of the stress triaxiality with the original design of the shear specimen
Lou Andreas-Salomé's RussiaThis master thesis is about the Russian-related literature from Lou Andreas-Salomé, who was born in St. Petersburg in 1861 and died 1937. The main question is about the construction of other. Therefore are used methods of Postcolonial narrations theory. The terms Postcoloniality, Identity, Alterity, Disidentification, Identification and Hybridity are going to be explained for a practical use. They can be found on the content base (histoire) and on the formal base (discours), and this terms are also defined by the point of view of narration. Themes like education, believe and superstition, the term Russion Soul and the farmer's life, which can be interpretaded as they are explicit (Bewertungen -LEO) often are used for characterization of Russian people in the histoire. Furthermore the eurocentrical view of the world can be seen on the material of text, mechanisms of discours can be identified in the literature of this author. The analysis follows as well on the field of words. Typical grammatical structures and specific kinds of words prove the colonial writing. The center of the analysis of discours is, who is allowed to speak, who has the power to characterize and why? Definitions of self and other are mentioned. Russia or the Russians are described in this texts and have to play a special role, correlating with how the wordl is seen eurocentrical. Although the position of th author or the narrator is more difficult to define: On the surface they are concepted as hybrids. The conflict in between the land, where the author is born and where she belongs or who she identifies with, is the core of the chapter of Hybridity. A big part for Identification with Russion or Germin is the language. Also space (Russia as travvelled country) can be understood with postcolonial methods ? rough borders are a typical sign of colonial literature. The novels, diaries and autobiographical books are following the colonial discourse in the end.vorgelegt von Cordula SimonAbweichender Titel laut Übersetzung der Verfasserin/des VerfassersZsfassung in engl.
