This report was prepared under the Master in Preschool Education and Elementary School under the guidance of Professor Belmiro Rego and co-supervision of Master Felizardo Sara, School of Education Viseu. The probation report presented here is based on the entire pedagogical practice developed in the context of education Preschool and 1st Cycle of Basic Education. These stages were intended to provide an experience of teaching practice, each having aduration of approximately four months, allowing us to make a follow up of children /students. In the first part of this report presents a small reflection on the work undertaken during the internship, which characterizes different contexts stage (Chapter I), we different contexts stage (Chapter I), we analyze the pedagogical practices (Chapter II) and the professional skills and knowledge developed (Chapter III). The second part presents the case study study chosen, which seeks to develop the social interaction of children with Autism Spectrum Syndrome. Concretizarmos Forour purpose, we resorted to Autism Games educational software, specific to this area. Currently, the literature on autism is extensive evidence about the injuries inherent characteristics of this syndrome. Following this, various questions arise concerning the ability to interact with other subjects of these children

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

Abstract Parental involvement in school emerges as a factor promoting the development of the student, providing improvements in teacher performance and, in general, the optimization of communication between all stakeholders in the educational process. This issue is of particular relevance in the case of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), where parental involvement is conceptualized as an important variable in the quality of the student learning process and the effectiveness of schools. In this context, this study aims to understand the perspectives of teachers and parents on parental involvement in the education of pupils with SEN in the context of inclusive education. The goals outlined were: i) to analyze the perspectives of parents and teachers about parental involvement in school; ii) perspetivar lines of action in order to promote family involvement in school; iii) identify the main difficulties encountered by pupils with SEN in the class inclusion, advocating forms of articulation between school and family. The research undertaken is exploratory, descriptive character. To this end, questionnaires for teachers and parents, whose theme focused on parental involvement in school were drafted. A convenience sample consists of 141 parents or guardians and 14 teachers (Regular Education and Special Education). The results emphasize the importance of parental involvement in student development and is particularly relevant in students with SEN. Parental involvement should be encouraged by teachers in order to cooperate in the development of pupils with SEN both societal and intellectual. The data also emphasize the training of teachers and parents in order to stimulate change in attitudes and practices and improve communication between family and school

Family foster care is a temporary measure of the Portuguese protection system, which aims to protect children from danger and ensure their full development. The measure assumes little representation compared to other measures to promote and protect children and young people in the national context, but national and international studies argue that this is the most appropriate measure for the healthy development of children and the one that best ensures their rights. The perception of the technicians and judicial decision-makers who work with the family foster care measure was the one that deserved our attention, given the need to better understand the nuances of this social response through those who apply it, as well as the possible potentialities and weaknesses of the measure according to their vision. The investigation followed a qualitative methodology, resorting to semi-structured interviews. For this purpose, a sample of 14 subjects was constituted. The interviews were subsequently the object of content analysis. The data obtained are not representative of the Portuguese reality, but allowed us to understand that Portugal, compared to other countries, remains at a later stage in terms of the implementation and development of the family foster care measure. There is a clear consensus among all the participants on the idea that family foster care provides children with the enjoyment of their right to a family, and they reveal the main difficulty in applying the measure: the lack of candidates for family foster care, due, in part, to the lack of information of society, but also to the lack of disclosure of the measure by the competent authorities. In this sense, the suggestions collected include carrying out publicity campaigns for the measure through the most diverse means
