Improving Prediction of Bursa Malaysia Stock Index Using Time Series and Deep Learning Hybrid Model
The stock market is an important component of the financial world. Most of the stock market contains uncertainty and volatility leading to difficulty in predicting the future price of stocks and the market’s movement. The computing approach is a widely used technique in stock market forecasting that can assist the rapid and precise study of massive datasets. Existing studies have shown that such a technique can yield comparable or even better performances than traditional time series models in stock forecasting. Hybridizing both computing and traditional approaches lead to better performance since hybrid models utilized the advantage of each model. In this study, a hybrid model which combines autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA), generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (GARCH) and long short-term memory (LSTM) model was proposed to forecast the closing price of Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI). The proposed model operated by capturing the linear and volatility pattern from the time series model while the deep learning model handled the remaining non-linear pattern. The findings indicated an overall improvement of 13.32% for RMSE and 0.97% for MAE as compared to other benchmark models. The hybrid models can also forecast the actual data with a shorter computational time of 0.82% of that taken by the regular LSTM model
Deep reinforcement learning for acceptance strategy in bilateral negotiations
This paper introduces an acceptance strategy based on reinforcement learning for automated bilateral negotiation, where negotiating agents bargain on multiple issues in a variety of negotiation scenarios. Several acceptance strategies based on predefined rules have been introduced in the automated negotiation literature. Those rules mostly rely on some heuristics, which take time and/or utility into account. For some negotiation settings, an acceptance strategy solely based on a negotiation deadline might perform well; however, it might fail in another setting. Instead of following predefined acceptance rules, this paper presents an acceptance strategy that aims to learn whether to accept its opponent's offer or make a counter offer by reinforcement signals received after performing an action. In an experimental setup, it is shown that the performance of the proposed approach improves over time.Interactive Intelligenc
Multidiameter optical ring and Hermite–Gaussian vortices for wavelength division multiplexing–mode division multiplexing
Optical vortices are high-capacity data carriers for mode division multiplexing (MDM) in multimode fiber (MMF). This paper reports on the MDM of a combination of helical-phased optical vortices comprising donut modes and Hermite–Gaussian (HG) modes for different radial offsets from the MMF axis. A data rate of 44 Gbps is achieved for wavelength division multiplexing–MDM of two pairs of helical-phased donut mode and HG mode at wavelengths 1550.12 and 1551.72 nm for a MMF length of 1500 m
32 channel DQPSK DWDM-PON for local area network using dispersion compensation fiber
In the contest to improving optical channel rates in dense wavelength multiplexing (DWDM) service to realize 40Gb/s, different adjustment and coherent detection plans are being investigated. In this paper, we present differential quaternary phase-shift keying (DQPSK) balance for the arrangement of a 32-channel DWDM in a Local Area Network (LAN)
Performance Comparison Between CWDM-PON and DWDM-PON Over FTTH Technology
WDM-PON is being widely considered as a means to implement Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) and deliver broadband access to business and home users. This research examines a preliminary simulation of the implementation of WDM-PON technology and compares the network performance between CWDM-PON and DWDM-PON. Moreover different comparison scenarios will be considered in order to determine the suitable and reasonable technology in terms of three major categories: weighted spatial modal field, bit error rate (BER) and eye diagram. The result shows that DWDM-PON technology is superior to CWDM-PON technology in term of power modal coupling BER
5 × 5 25 Gbit/s WDM-MDM
Wavelength-division multiplexed-passive optical network (WDM-PON) is a revolutionary high-capacity and scalable broadband access network. This paper capitalizes on Laguerre–Gaussian (LG) modes to reduce modal dispersion and increase data capacity. A data rate of 25 Gbit/s is attained for a multimode fiber link by multiplexing five LG modes on five wavelengths centered at 1,550.12 nm for a distance up to 800 m
Laguerre-Gaussian mode division multiplexing in multimode fiber using SLMs in VCSEL arrays
Mode division multiplexing (MDM) is a promising technology for increasing the aggregate bandwidth of multimode fiber (MMF) in conjunction with wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) in face of the impending capacity crunch in optical fiber networks. This paper investigates the effect of radial and azimuthal mode spacings in a 25-channel MDM-WDM system in MMF using a spatial light modulator-controlled VCSEL array for excitation of Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) modes.A data rate of 25Gbps is achieved at a central wavelength of 1550.12 nm.The effects of different azimuthal and radial mode spacings of LG modes are analyzed in terms of the channel impulse response, eye diagram and bit-error rate
Mode Division Multiplexing of Helical-Phased LG Modes in Multimode Fiber with Electronic Dispersion Compensation
Selective mode excitation techniques for mode-division multiplexing: A critical review
Multimode Fiber (MMF) is an established choice for the high-speed backbones in Local Area Networks (LANs). Mode Division Multiplexing (MDM) is an emerging technology utilizing modes as independent data communication channels. MDM controls the delay spread of propagating modes in order to alleviate modal dispersion, which is the principal source of bandwidth limitation in MMF. This paper critically reviews and systematically classifies recent selective mode excitation techniques for mode division multiplexing. The analysis shows that MDM is a viable solution to increase a channel capacity through the combination and separation of the modes at the multiplexer and de-multiplexer
Yousef Diya' al-Khalidi's life and his work al-Hadiyatu'l Hamidiyah fi Lugat al-Kurdiyye (Text analysis and classification)
Yousef Diya' al-Khalidi, was appointed as the governor of Bitlis / Mutki during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamit II of the Ottoman Empire. Yousef Diya' Pasha, who was Palestinian and previously served as an administrative officer in Jerusalem and Russia in the name of the Ottoman Empire, besides his political experience he attached great importance to education and science. Due to his interest in languages, Yousef Diya' Pasha, who learned languages such as English, French, Persian and Turkish as well as his native Arabic, was interested in Kurdish and did not come across a grammar book or dictionary of the language in question. Having learned Kurdish during his three-year-long duty, Pasha wrote his book al-Hadiyatu'l Hamidiyah. During the preparation of the work, Yousef Diya' Pasha received help from a group of scholars who gave lectures in madrasahs (the common education centers of the period) and printed his work in Istanbul. After its publication, it resonated greatly among Kurdish notables and researchers. This study examines the work written by Yousef Diya' Pasha in terms of structure, technique and content, considering the contextual conditions of the period. Since the work in question is the first Kurdish - Arabic dictionary written by an Arab-origin author, the study firstly includes the life of the author by examining the political, social and cultural environment which he lived in. On the other hand, while the concepts of language, dictionary and lexicology are discussed on the way to the study of al-Hadiyatu'l Hamidiyah, Kurdish and Arabic languages in which the work was written were also included in the research in general. Finally, the whole dictionary is examined and the Arabic text is corrected and added to the last part of the thesis
