Pesquisa acadêmica e prática educativa como um problema sociológico.
No full textA pesquisa acadêmica e a prática educativa são analisadas a partir de quatro concepções rivais. Na concepção dita conjunta, entende-se que é indissociável a pesquisa acadêmica da prática educativa. Na complementar, assinala-se que apenas existe uma relação de complementaridade entre pesquisa acadêmica e prática educativa, cada uma influenciando a outra indiretamente. Na crítica, propõe-se pensar o efeito da alienação e da reprodução mercadológica, tanto na pesquisa acadêmica quanto na prática educativa. Por último, na de risco, acusa-se existir antes que uma união, complementaridade ou reprodução do capital, uma crise de reflexividade, tanto na pesquisa científica quanto na prática acadêmica, gerando efeitos incontroláveis para as práticas sociais. Da análise sobre processos educacionais em curso a partir da década de 1990, o autor sugere que a concepção de risco questiona o mito da aprendizagem incorporado acriticamente pelas filosofias da educação da modernidade. Com base no aporte analítico da sociologia de Giddens e Beck, o autor apresenta como explicação final que as pesquisas sobre educação não têm considerado os efeitos sociais da produção do conhecimento na chamada alta modernidade

Full text linkThe article proposes a methodological model for the analysis of international political ecology, structured in the idea that the politicization dimension of ecology is one of the most important processes of the globalization, in a dynamic and dialectical rhythm due to the democratization and diversification of the communication networks (cyber-activism). The empirical material of analysis encompasses the symbolic role of actors and processes of international political ecology through public demonstration strategies, especially civil disobedience of international environmental NGOs, scientists and activist groups that make up civil society global. The article underlines the role of international actors in political ecology intheir ongoing process of communicative action to influence the course of civilization.O artigo propõe um modelo metodológico de análise da ecologia política internacional a partir da reflexão de que a dimensão de politização da temática da ecologia constitui um dos maiores processos do fenômeno da globalização, num ritmo dinâmico e dialético em função da democratização e diversificação das redes de comunicação (ciberativismo). O material empírico de análise engloba o papel simbólico dos atores e dos processos da ecologia política internacional por meio de estratégias de demonstração pública (public demonstration), especialmente de desobediência civil de ONGs ambientalistas internacionais, cientistas e grupos de ativistas que compõem a sociedade civil global. Full text linkO artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa de survey com o público universitário sobre a constituição dos valores modernos na cultura brasileira e o modo de compreensão dos assuntos políticos concernentes ao reconhecimento da dignidade igualitária e à assunção da autenticidade diferencial. A tese de uma modernização individualista no Brasil ancorada na idéia de independência da pessoa moral serve aqui de hipótese teórica para refutar o processo de modernização da interpretação damattiana, pelo menos entre o público universitário. Como conclusão, pode-se sugerir que, no Brasil, a assimilação dos valores da modernidade individualista, que carrega consigo a dimensão da reflexividade moral para julgar sobre ordens de valores subjetivos concernentes às preferências de direitos iguais e de bens culturais, não é orientada segundo valores pré-convencionais, ou seja, valores personalistas. Os critérios de julgamento moral estão estruturados segundo instâncias impessoais do mercado competitivo e da ordem estatal, formando uma lógica de diferenciação e seleção social para o reconhecimento da dignidade e da autenticidade cultural. Palavras-chave: dignidade igualitária; autenticidade diferencial; cultura brasileira; modernização individualista. Abstract: The article presents the conclusion of a survey research on the academic public opinion’s of the modern values constitution in the Brazilian culture realm and the way of comprehend public issues concerning the recognition of equal dignity and the assumption of differential authenticity. The thesis of an individualist modernisation existing in Brazil referred to the idea of the independence of moral person was used as a theoretical hypothesis in order to refute the damatian’s interpretation of the process of modernisation, at least among the academic public. As conclusion, it can be suggested that, in Brazil, the incorporation of individualistic modern values which carries as important the moral reflexivity dimension to judge about some orders of subjectivist values concerning to the preferences of equality of rights and cultural goods is not oriented through pre-conventional values, that is, personal values. The criterions of moral judgement are founded conforming impersonal places of the competitive market and governmental order, which is inducing a logic of social selection and competion to the recognition of the dignity and the cultural authenticity.Key Words: The recognition of equal dignity; the assumption of differential authenticity; Brazilian culture; individualist modernisation
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Full text linkWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
