It means exploring the relationships between the cultural maturity of the communities involved and the degree of safety/security, accessibility, mobility and quality of public places with their new metropolitan significance.The conceptual elaboration, the best practices and the competences of national and international supervisors, lead to the definition of a framework that positively affects the project for the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria. The aim of the planning criteria is to create a joint project (taking into account urban planning, economic, and social aspects) pursuing a higher spatial quality that makes it possible to manage the resources (material and human) in a more sensible way and in tune with the dynamics of development

The Territorial Plan for Provincial Organiziation has become the ideal tool for experimenting with the integration of the landscape, environment and territory, since it assumes as its principal objective environmental sustainability connected with socio-economic development, uniting the evolution of the territory with the quality of the environment and the conservation of the landscapes in a logic of compatibility between the transformation and use of resources according to their capacity to hold and to reproduce themselves.Nel perseguimento di una pianificazione e gestione equilibrata del territorio l’Ente Provinciale ha un ruolo strategico in quanto chiamato a recepire e mettere in atto i metodi e gli strumenti messi in campo per una nuova politica del paesaggio. Get PDFThe common thread that links Reggio and Messina can be intended for the two cities to grow stronger and tie, with the alliance of Villa San Giovanni, moving towards advanced urban quality and performance. Time seems ripe to fulfill set evoked forty-five years ago with Project 80 for a new type of urban civilization towards a metropolitan scale, because only high urban ranks could be considered able to provide goods and services that belong to a civilized society. The irresistible charm the City on the Strait has, is probably, due to an extraordinary liquid significance to be considered as a primary infrastructure. The City of the Strait is not to be seen as a city that gets bigger, or two or three cities that become one; it is a city with solid and liquid ways, with significant urban parts that also interact visually, that wisely integrate and re-know in a richer and more complex territorial identity. Get PDFThe research, useful to bring the design choices on the path of sustainability and resilience, also in order to optimize uses and functions of the territory, requires a laboratory and experimental commitment for the governance of the processes suitable to awaken a culture of living based on a convinced ecosystem approach, whose benefits are fully understood in the short, medium and long term.In this sense the role of the Mediterranean University for the Agenda 2030 is expressed with the activities of the laboratories that obtain energy and acquisitions from research to contribute to the creation of sustainable thought by the training and initiatives of the "third mission" towards a more equal, healthier, educated society, based on the knowledge economy.The continuous process of territory resignification through the work of the communities can only be achieved through a coordinated and integrated set of interventions, actions and complementary measures, with physical and social infrastructural nature, which promote a new way to knowing and experiencing the territorial context.The paper proposes critical reflections derived from specific experiences conducted with laboratory methods to search for sustainable paths of propagating urban and territorial quality, to structure the association between places and cultural, landscape and environmental heritage, characterizing metropolitan contexts, in a new regenerative sense. Get PDFThe paper proposes a reflection on the theme of sustainable regeneration for liveable and healthy public spaces, starting from the formal and performance characteristics of the places in the city designed to create a living space. The more compact parts of the city lend themselves to a practicability that follows the logic of the vector flow and sometimes requires separation between accesses and outflow routes. These aspects must be considered in the design and regeneration processes.The research started is aimed at the criteria of conceiving, designing, implementing and verifying the validity of urban spaces, which should be safe and consistent with a good quality of life, suitable to promote healthy lifestyles, happily active and autonomous in all phases of life of citizens.Therefore, in conceiving this vision of "living space", it can be useful to recall and revise, the set of principles that have gradually matured in the prevention of risks due to earthquakes, disasters, accidents, to the occurrence of all those occasions when it is necessary to safely evacuate large quantities of people.A new way of conceiving living space pro-wellness can also draw, in criteria and methods, from the corpus of measures developed to achieve a suitable climatic comfort of the urban environment, with the integration of the evaluation of the performance system of the urban ecological network to improve the presence of authentic naturalness of cities

No full textIn una recente pubblicazione (2008) relativa ad un convegno tenuto all’Accademia di San Luca dal titolo A cosa serve l’Architettura?, convegno voluto da Guido Canella ci si interrogava su come è cambiato il quadro di riferimento culturale, sociale e politico entro cui il lavoro dell’architetto oggi si colloca. Un quadro critico, ma tanto critico da sollecitare una riflessione sull’essere architetti responsabili, sul senso e utilità del nostro lavoro in questa società globalizzata. Il campo problematico tracciato proponeva una serie di riflessioni articolate che riguardavano la nostra contemporaneità. Tra queste segnalo lo sconfinamento dell’architettura nell’industrial desing in un mondo dominato dal mercato; la possibilità di interpretare ancora oggi l’architettura come l’esercizio di un pensiero critico sulle contraddizioni del presente, anche nelle forme dell’utopia; l’esistenza e l’operatività di una specifica teoria tipo-morfologica dell’architettura per la realtà stratificata ma anche globalizzata delle nostre città; il ruolo che la critica architettonica svolge ridotta ormai a comunicazione mass mediologica, attenta nel soccorrere ed inseguire gli eventi dell’architettura spettacolo

Comprendere il costruire nella sua origine riporta alla relazione tra edificare e abitare.
Il senso stesso della costruzione si fonda su un principio di necessità per l'uomo: l'idea della casa, della caverna, della capanna, come bisogno di un ricovero viene considerato un punto di riferimento per una riflessione intorno alle questioni essenziali dell'architettura
