The majority of the pamphlets are in English and were published between 1920-1970 in the United States, the Soviet Union, Great Britain, Canada and China. Get PDFFabian Leendertz, Direktor des Helmholtz-Instituts für One Health (HIOH) in Greifswald und ein international führender Experte für Zoonosen, erhielt heute im Hamburger Rathaus den Hamburger Wissenschaftspreis 2023 zum Thema „One Health“. Die Akademie der Wissenschaften in Hamburg würdigte damit die Forschungsarbeit des Tierarztes und Mikrobiologen zum One-Health-Konzept, wonach die Gesundheit von Mensch, Tier und Umwelt eng miteinander zusammenhängt. Die Zweite Bürgermeisterin und Wissenschaftssenatorin Katharina Fegebank gratulierte dem Preisträger. Den mit 100.000 Euro dotierten Preis stiftet die Hamburgische Stiftung für Wissenschaften, Entwicklung und Kultur Helmut und Hannelore Greve. [...] Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Thomas Mettenleiter, Virologe, Präsident a. D., Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut – Bundesforschungsinstitut für Tiergesundheit (FLI), und Akademiemitglied, stellte in seiner Laudatio fest: „Fabian Leendertz ist Tierarzt und ohne Zweifel einer der Pioniere von One-Health-Forschung. Er verfügt über mehr als 22 Jahre Erfahrung auf dem Gebiet der Zoonosenforschung unter dem One-Health-Aspekt. Sein wissenschaftliches Ziel ist es, zu verstehen, wo, wie und warum Mikroorganismen zwischen verschiedenen Arten übertragen werden und welche Bedeutung Krankheitserreger und andere Mikroorganismen für Tierpopulationen haben. Hierzu hat er sich mit Viren, Bakterien und Parasiten beschäftigt. Jedes dieser Projekte basiert auf dem One-Health-Ansatz, der nicht nur Daten zum Erreger selbst erfasst, sondern auch zu dessen Wirt wie zum Beispiel Verhalten, Ökologie, Evolutionsgeschichte sowie zur umgebenden Umwelt. Fabian Leendertz hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, grundlegende Mechanismen des Auftretens neuer Krankheitserreger sowie deren Rolle im Zusammenspiel zwischen Mensch-, Tier- und Umwelt-Gesundheit zu verstehen und damit zu einer wirksameren Pandemievorsorge und -prävention beizutragen.“ [...

The other major group of materials in this collection pertains to Fritz and Lilly Fabian's restitution claims and efforts to regain German citizenship.Lilly Fabian was born Lilli Lehmann in Hamburg in 1892. She married James Silberstein in Berlin in 1920, was deported to Theresienstadt, and married Fritz Fabian in 1947 in Switzerland. In 1957 Lilly and Fritz Fabian regained German citizenship. Lilly Fabian died in Locarno in 1981.digitize
