In this study, it was aimed to determine the knowledge and attitudes of managers working in hospitals regarding the COVID-19 pandemic crisis management. The universe of this descriptive study consisted of 158 managers working in different positions in 5 hospitals providing secondary and tertiary lines inpatient health services in the city center of Trabzon. All managers were included in the study without sampling. The study was completed with 128 participants, as thirty managers were on leave, on a report and did not want to participate in the research. The data were collected using the Crisis "Management Scale", the "Personal Information Form" developed by the researchers, and the "COVID-19 Pandemic Management Knowledge, Attitude and Skill Questionnaire". SPSS 23 statistical analysis program was used in the analysis of the data. The comliance with the normal distribution was examined using the Shapiro-Wilk test. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the data that was not normally distributed in paired groups, and the Kruskal Wallis test was used to compare the data that was not normally distributed in groups of three or more. Spearman's rho correlation coefficient was used to analyze the relationship between data that was not normally distributed, and Bonferroni correction was used to compare the crisis management score according to multiple responses. The significance level was taken as p<0.05. According to the results of the analysis, a correlation between the age, gender, working time and total working time of the managers and crisis management attitudes, and a significant difference between the gender of the managers and their crisis management attitudes were found According to these results; at pre-pandemic period, hospital-specific strategic action plans and programs should be prepared by the managers in the hospitals in line with the national pandemic plans and programs, the information of the managers on pandemic and crisis management should be updated

Immature rice grain is one of the underutilized by-products of paddy milling process. Despite its high potential of use as a food ingredient, it is mainly utilized as feed due to the rancidity problem. In the present study, the composition of immature rice grain, the potential of using infrared (IR) radiation for stabilization, and the effects of IR stabilization on color, fatty acid composition, tocopherol and gamma-oryzanol contents of the grain were investigated. The free fatty acid (FFA) value of the unprocessed immature rice grain was 5.49% and increased to 35.71% at the end of 3 months of storage at room temperature. However, FFA content of the grains stabilized with IR radiation at specific conditions remained unchanged throughout the storage period. Moreover, IR stabilization did not caused a negative effect on the noted components of the immature rice grain.Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK) [115O605]Thanks to Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK) for supporting this research (Project No: 115O605) and also for the scholarship granted to Fatma Yilmaz. The authors thank to 'Ozer Gida Ltd. Sti.' for providing the immature rice grain

Impact of aerobic training with and without whole-body vibration training on metabolic features and quality of life in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease patients

The present study examined the effectiveness of adding exercises with whole-body vibration (WBV) to aerobic training in terms of metabolic features and quality of life. Patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), confirmed on imaging, underwent an 8-week individualized exercise program randomized between aerobic training with and without WBV. Training was performed at 60-80% heart rate workload for 165 min/week. The WBV amplitude was 2-4 mm and the training frequency was 30 Hz, for 15 min. Assessments were carried out on surrogate scores of steatosis and fibrosis including transient elastography (FibroScan), metabolic features (biochemical analysis) and quality of life (SF-36). Insulin resistance was markedly reduced ( -2.36; 95% CI: -4.96 to -0.24; P: 0.049) in aerobic training with WBV. The decrease in serum aspartate transaminase was significantly greater in aerobic training without WBV ( -14.81; 95% CI: -23.36 to -6.25; P: 0.029). There were no significant differences between groups for the other metabolic features (P< 0.05). All quality of life well-being domains improved in both groups (P< 0.05). Given this reduction in insulin resistance, WBV can usefully be added to aerobic training. However, WBV did not provide further benefits in improving metabolic properties or quality of life.
