Cutaneous neurilemmoma of the dorsal wrist: A case report

    No full text
A rare case of benign cutaneous neurilemmoma of the dorsum of the wrist in a 40-year-old man is presented. The patient was referred with a 1 year history of a solitary lump on the dorsum of his right wrist. Enbloc excision and direct closure resolved the associated pain. Histological examination of the specimen demonstrated the typical characteristics of a benign schwannoma with the presence of the 2 Antoni areas. There are no signs of recurrence after 1 year of follow-up. Our case of purely intradermal epithelioid schwannoma is noteworthy because of its location. To our knowledge it is the first case described on the extensor aspect of the wrist

A large lower eyelid reconstruction: nasojugal flaps plus V-Y advancement flap

Lower eyelid reconstruction still represents one of the finest expressions in oculoplastic surgery. A 76-year-old male presented with a basal cell carcinoma (BCC) of the lateral canthus, involving the inferior eyelid. After ablative surgery, the resulting full-thickness defect was reconstructed with a mucosal graft trom the buccal sulcus and a nasolabial flap subcutaneously pedicled on a V-Y advancement flap. The above techniques, joined together, allow better nasojugal transposition and should be considered when lateral half of the lower eyelid and lateral canthus reconstruction are performed

Reconstruction of the anterior axillary fold with a turnover subcutaneous dermofat flap: a case report

The authors describe a very unusual oblique scar up to the shoulder resulting from a previous radical mastectomy. A simple method to reconstruct or enhance the anterior axillary fold with a turnover dermal-fat flap during nipple-areola-complex reconstruction is reported. This surgical procedure was performed in a patient with a pedicled TRAM-flap breast reconstruction. The subcutaneous dermal-fat flap, based on the dermis and fat of the dog-ear resulting at the lateral end of the previous mastectomy scar, was de-epithelized and turned over to reconstruct the anterior axillary fold. The overlying skin was exploited as a graft to reconstruct the areola. Indications for a turnover dermal-fat flap in anterior axillary fold reconstruction are discussed

Accidental intra-gluteal needle rupture during electrolipolysis: Pick up procedure and treatment

Excess of body fat and cellulite are often responsible for problems among the female population. Nowadays Health-market offers multiple choices to improve body contour and reduce localized fat deposits. Electrolipolysis is one of them, claimed as effective, safe and non-surgical, frequently is contra-posed to classical liposuction procedures. To our knowledge, no clinical series are described in Literature about this procedure, not even a single case report about complicance or regarding electrolipolysis effects or long-term result supported by reliable data. We report electrolipolysis during electrolipolysis and point-out about risks related to this "safe" procedure

Local cutaneous arachnidism: a report of three cases and their management

Bites from Loxosceles spiders can cause few symptoms to gangrenous skin necrosis or even death. To date, the treatment of the violin spider bite is largely unsatisfactory. Although no specific therapy exists, it has been suggested that heparin, steroids, dapsone, experimental antivenin and/or surgical excision may be beneficial. Three rare cases of suspected spider bite and their surgical treatment are reported. On the basis of geographical area, anamnesis and clinical symptoms, we suppose Loxoceles rufescens responsible for these bites
