Estudio cualitativo y cuantitativo de colpas y fauna asociada (aves y mamíferos) en tres tipos de hábitats en la Reserva Nacional Pucacuro, Loreto-Perú
Las colpas juegan un papel importante en la ecología nutricional y persistencia poblacional de los animales. Esta investigación se realizó para ampliar el conocimiento cualitativo y cuantitativo de colpas y la fauna asociada. Se inició con la búsqueda y ubicación de las colpas en tres tipos de hábitats, por medio de recorridos en trochas lineales de 3 Km y recorridos de 6 Km en los ríos Tangarana y Baratillo en bote para el caso de uno de los hábitats. Se anotó las características externas de las colpas registradas: perímetro, quebradas, medidas de la colpa, forma, pendiente, color de arcilla o suelo y puntos de geofagia. Se registró la fauna (aves y mamíferos) mediante observación directa desde un escondite (chapana) construida a 4 m sobre el suelo y a una distancia entre 2-10 m de la colpa. Se hizo análisis físico-químico de las muestras de suelo geofágico y no geofágico (control). Se determinó la vegetación circundante de las colpas por medio de muestreos y colectas de especies de plantas, considerando un DAP ≥ 2.5 cm, a un rango de 5-10 m alrededor de la colpa. En los tres tipos de hábitats, se registró un total de 20 colpas, con características externas similares entre hábitats. Se obtuvo una riqueza total de 32 especies entre aves (20) y mamíferos (12), con una abundancia de 47.747 ind/h y 9.301 ind/h respectivamente; resultando con mayor riqueza y abundancia el hábitat de terraza baja de drenaje imperfecto a pobre (TBFD) en cuanto a aves; en mamíferos no existió una diferencia marcada en la riqueza y abundancia en los tres tipos de hábitats. Sólo 6 de las 15 variables físicas y químicas fueron significativamente diferentes (p0.05); mientras, que, en la vegetación circundante de las colpas, se registró 670 individuos de plantas.The clay licks play an important role in the nutritional ecology and population persistence of the animals. This research was carried out to expand the qualitative and quantitative knowledge of clay licks and associated fauna. It began with the search and location of the clay licks in three types of habitats, by means of 3 km linear trails and 6 km routes in the Tangarana and Baratillo rivers by boat in the case of one of the habitats. The external characteristics of the recorded clay licks were noted: perimeter, streams, measurements of the clay lick, shape, slope, color of clay or soil, and geophagy points. The fauna (birds and mammals) was recorded by direct observation from a hiding place (chapana) built 4 m above the ground and at a distance between 2-10 m from the clay lick. Physico-chemical analysis of the geophagic and non-geophagic soil samples (control) was carried out. The surrounding vegetation of the clay licks was determined by sampling and collecting plant species, considering a DBH ≥ 2.5 cm, at a range of 5-10 m around the clay lick. In the three types of habitats, a total of 20 clay licks were recorded, with similar external characteristics between habitats. A total richness of 32 species was obtained between birds (20) and mammals (12), with an abundance of 47,747 ind / h and 9,301 ind / h respectively; resulting with greater richness and abundance the low terrace habitat of imperfect to poor drainage (TBFD) in terms of birds; in mammals there was no marked difference in richness and abundance in the three types of habitats. Only 6 of the 15 physical and chemical variables were significantly different (p 0.05); while, in the surrounding vegetation of the clay licks, 670 plant individuals were recorded
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. MURCIÉLAGOS INDICADORES DE HÁBITATS PERTURBADOS EN LA RESERVA NACIONAL ALLPAHUAYO MISHANA, PERÚ
We consider that the changes in the composition of bat species in the face of anthropic impacts, could show its potential in terms of indicator species. Therefore, identify these species in disturbed habitats using bats has become the purpose of this study. We applied the mist network method for 20 nights in two types of habitats in the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve: Disturbed forests, corresponding to crops and natural forests without alteration. During each night, 16 mist nets were installed, active from 18:00 to 24:00 hours and reviewed every 30 minutes. We captured 451 individuals that corresponded to 37 species applying an effort of 1936 h/net. We recorded species indicating disturbed forests (p=0.0003), the most noteworthy being Sturnira tildae, followed by Carollia perspicillata, Sturnira lilium, Carollia brevicauda and Carollia benkeithi. The most abundant species in both types of forests was Artibeus planirostris and probably the most important in the natural regeneration processes of the forests studied. According to the food guild, the greatest wealth and abundance of frugivorous bats is found in disturbed forests (p=0.001). According to the results, the bats constitute a good taxonomic group to be applied in the method of states of conservation of biodiversity in Amazonian forests; which would be attractive and generate an impact of ecological, economic, social and scientific cost benefit.Consideramos que los cambios en la composición de especies de murciélagos ante impactos antrópicos, podrían evidenciar su potencial en función a especies indicadoras. Por ello, identificar estas especies en hábitats perturbados utilizando murciélagos se ha convertido en el propósito de este estudio. Aplicamos el método de redes de neblina durante 20 noches en dos tipos de hábitats de la Reserva Nacional Allpahuayo Mishana: Bosques perturbados, correspondientes a cultivos y Bosques naturales sin alteración. Durante cada noche, fueron instaladas 16 redes de neblina, activas desde las 18:00 a 24 horas y revisadas cada 30 minutos. Capturamos 451 individuos correspondientes a 37 especies aplicando un esfuerzo de 1936 h/red. Registramos especies indicadoras de bosques perturbados (p=0.0003), siendo la más destacable Sturnira tildae, seguido de Carollia perspicillata, Sturnira lilium, Carollia brevicauda y Carollia benkeithi. La especie más abundante en ambos tipos de bosques fue Artibeus planirostris y probablemente la más importante en los procesos de regeneración natural de los bosques estudiados. Según el gremio alimentario, la mayor riqueza y abundancia de murciélagos frugívoros se encuentra en bosques perturbados (0.001). Según los resultados, los murciélagos constituyen un buen grupo taxonómico para aplicarse en métodos de estados de conservación de biodiversidad en bosques amazónicos; lo cual resultaría atractivo y generaría un impacto de costo beneficio ecológico, económico, social y científico
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
