The gendered nature of academic institutions: a gender-analysis of Italian Universities
No full textThe academic fields are highly gendered, with men being overrepresented in the highest academic positions, while women tend to occupy the lower and more precarious positions, which indicates the existence of an academic ‘glass ceiling’. Most Italian academic institutions have policies on gender equality and/or diversity, but a common problem is a lack of transparency and gender-disaggregated data. Information such as sex-disaggregated data is essential to carry out gender- equality analysis and to analyse important decision-making processes from a gender perspective. In this paper, we assess the gendered nature of Italian universities by investigating the structure of academic positions by gender at both public and private universities from 2011 to 2017, with the help of gender-disaggregated statistics. Furthermore, we also analyse the gender segregation patterns in the data by geographical area. We document the persistence of a gender gap in a typical Italian academic career. Indeed, the empirical investigation finds that in 2017, while the proportion of women academic staff was 40.2%, women made up only 37.5% of associate professors and 23% of full professors. The results indicate that gender segregation in Italian universities has been reduced over time but is far from eliminated. Despite positive changes achieved in recent years, the study reveals a prevailing vertical segregation in Italian universities, i.e., a significant under- representation of women in the higher ranks of academia
Re-engineering the Way Maintenance Data Are Collected and Analysed: The Service Report
No full textManufacturing companies are strongly investing in offerings based on combinations of products and services—known as Product Service Systems (PSS)— for establishing long-lasting relationships with customers under the premise that services can extend the products’ useful life and create additional value. Despite this, it is difficult to deliver services efficiently and effectively. Thus, companies must identify flaws in their service delivery offering and tackle them, with data collection and analysis used as the main leverage for this. In the case of the maintenance service, technicians’ reports constitute the main source of knowledge since they contain information on failure causes, recurrent problems, or optimal strategies for their resolution, and can be used to create the maintenance engineering knowledge necessary to drive improvements. Roberto Gerhard’s Sound Compositions: A Historical-Philological Perspective. Archive, Process, Intent and reenactment
No full textThis research advances the current state of knowledge in the field of early tape music both empirically and methodologically. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact that the electronic medium exerted in the musical thinking of Roberto Gerhard, one of the most outspoken, prolific and influential composers in the Spanish diaspora whose musical legacy, for the most part unknown, is a major landmark in the early history of electroacoustic music. Gerhard’s personal tape collection, one of the largest historical archives of its kind reported in the literature, is exceptional for both its antiquity (50+-year-old tapes) and its abundance of production materials. Through the digitisation and analysis of the composer’s tape collection this research argues that the empirical study of audio documents sets out a basis for a broader understanding of textual processes. More specifically, the research demonstrates that the reconstruction of works based on magnetic tape sketches is a powerful method to advance the understanding of early tape music. This research also examines Gerhard’s sound compositions in relation to the post-war context in which they were composed. Finally, this research presents performance documentation that proposes an approach to the electroacoustic music repertoire in which creativity is not at odds with rigor and critical discernment demonstrating that archival study can be closely aligned to the concept of re-enactment

No full textIn uno scenario globale attraversato da sfide ambientali, sociali ed economiche sempre più complesse, la sostenibilità è divenuta un principio imprescindibile nella definizione delle politiche pubbliche e nella gestione delle organizzazioni, orientando il settore pubblico a una nuova stagione di responsabilità, trasparenza e accountability, che richiede di misurare e comunicare anche l’impatto sociale e ambientale delle proprie azioni.
In questo contesto, il presente scritto intende esplorare il tema del reporting di sostenibilità nel settore pubblico, con un focus specifico sulle società a partecipa- zione pubblica, in quanto attori ibridi chiamati a coniugare finalità economiche e responsabilità sociali. Muovendo da una ricostruzione teorica, che integra le prin- cipali prospettive offerte dalla letteratura accademica sul tema, lo scritto approfon- disce il ruolo delle società a partecipazione pubblica nella promozione dello svi- luppo sostenibile, con un focus particolare sulla rendicontazione del loro contributo agli SDG dell’Agenda 2030 delle Nazioni Unite.
La trattazione teorica è supportata e completata da un’indagine empirica realizzata con riferimento al contesto italiano, volta a delineare lo stato dell’arte della disclo- sure degli SDG tramite i siti web delle società partecipate dallo Stato, ad individua- re i fattori organizzativi e di governance che ne influenzano la propensione alla disclosure, nonché a fornire possibili suggerimenti per lo sviluppo di future linee di ricerca e per il policy maker

No full textEste estudo documenta a vida e a obra de Roberto José Goulart Tibau (1924-2003), arquiteto brasileiro. O objetivo fundamental - e mais importante - é reunir informações sobre os projetos e obras mais significativos desenvolvidos durante sua atividade profissional, tornando-os acessíveis através dessa pesquisa. O trabalho baseou-se em pesquisa bibliográfica, levantamento e registro das obras e projetos realizados, currículo profissional, e depoimento de Tibau, concedido ao autor, em 1998. Em Roberto Tibau e o fazer arquitetura são descritos os caminhos percorridos pelo arquiteto; o contexto histórico de sua formação e atuação profissional; a relação de sua produção arquitetônica com outras obras da época; e eventuais referências projetuais utilizadas na criação dos seus projetos. Este trabalho vem preencher uma lacuna bibliográfica considerável, trazendo à luz, a obra deste significativo arquiteto, que dedicou sua vida ao trabalho na prancheta, na qual deixou sua marca de humanista.This study documents the life and work of Roberto José Goulart Tibau (1924-2003), a Brazilian architect. It aims to collect information about the most significant projects developed during the years of his professional career, which will become available through this research. The present study based on bibliographical research, examination and registration of the projects executed by the architect, his resumé, and his testimonial to the author of this research, in 1998. In Roberto Tibau and the process of making architecture there is a description of the ways in which his projects were conceived; the historical context through his professional activity since graduation, the relation between his own production and the production of other architects of the same period, and the projecting references used for his creations. This research is also an attempt to fill a signicant bibliographical gap of architecture history in Brazil by bringing to light the work of this relevant architect, who dedicated his life to working on his drawing table, leaving to us his humanistic style
