To the Editor: In the review article on myocarditis by Basso (Oct. 20 issue),(1) the author recommends invasive coronary angiography for diagnostic workup in patients with suspected myocarditis in order to rule out underlying coronary artery disease (CAD).(1) Strong evidence suggests that noninvasive coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) has similar diagnostic accuracy and is associated with a lower incidence of adverse events than invasive coronary angiography in patients with chronic coronary syndrome.(2) In fact, recent guidelines on the management of chest pain(3) and prevention of sudden cardiac death(4) recommend CCTA as a class I indication, which should be preferred over . .

    No full text
The article “Érosion de la nature, stratification de l’humain: Tournant ontologique et écologie sémiotique” by Pierluigi Basso Fossali explores the interplay between ecological thought and semiotics, emphasizing the ontological challenges posed by the relationship between nature and culture. The author critiques the oversimplification of nature as a static regulatory principle, advocating instead for a dynamic semiotic ecology that acknowledges the interdependence of cultures, environments, and symbolic systems. The text highlights the necessity of rethinking environmental discourse through a multi-layered perspective that transcends traditional dichotomies, such as nature versus culture, while embracing the epistemological contributions of diverse civilizations. By integrating the notions of resistance, translation, and intersubjectivity, the article argues for a pluralistic understanding of ecological frameworks as both cultural constructs and practical paradigms for addressing global environmental challenges

The research aims to investigate the potential of current interactive graphic systems and new real-time fruition formulas of non-existent spaces through the experimentation of the technological devices currently in use for three-dimensional exploration, such as: Oculis Rift applied to the Unreal Engine 4.12RT rendering platform. The case study therefore proposes the interactive reconfiguration of the complex Piranesian spaces of the Prisons, where the eighteenth-century author, cleverly exploiting the perspective framing and the chiaroscuro, represents complex and surreal labyrinthine spaces, acts in their apparently disordered combination, offering a feeling of bewilderment and amazement

This essay first takes into account a methodological issue, which concerns the relationship between two very different writings such as The German Ideology and The 18 Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte. Starting from the highlighting of their continuity in the construction of the materialist approach to history by Marx and Engels, the essay develops the Marxian critique of bourgeois political concepts (constitution, people, democracy, etc.), which allows the author to show the dichotomous character of capitalist society, as well as the fiction of any attempt to unify it. On the contrary, Marx shows how the class struggle continuously divides any attempt to give life to a unitary collective subject, and how any project of institutionalisation of the conflict is always challenged by the original contradiction, which manifests itself first of all on the imaginative level and on the level of passions, first of all fear

Constantin Constantius’ Little Contribution to an Ontology of Becoming

    No full text
n October 1843, Kierkegaard published Repetitionunder the pseudonym Constantin Constantius: a “droll little book”, in which he stages one of the most original and deepest concepts of his philosophical reflection. Not even two months later, Johan Ludvig Heiberg (1791-1860) wrote a review that gave rise to a polemical reaction by Kierkegaard. A controversy that, however, has the strange peculiarity of remaining solitary. Kierkegaard in fact writes a long and inflamed answer that he decides to keep in the drawer, sure of the contradictory nature of wanting to transform into “direct communication” what only indirectly, through irony, can be introduced into reflection. In the unpublished manuscripts named Little Contributionby Constantin Constantius Author of “Repetition”, Kierkegaard engages in the rare attempt to explicitly explain himself and his category of repetition to contemporaries who have misunderstood it, preferring the Hegelian mediatio

The research investigates the graphic work of Paolo Soleri and the many aspects that identify him as both a philosopher- architect as an artist. The careful analysis of the Soleri works, theoretical writings and original designs from some important museums, allows the understanding of the complex per-sonality of the author. From the understanding of the spontaneous graphic projects we will reach a 3d re-configuration. The ultimate goal is to perceive with the exploration 3d empathetic and emotion-al but often difficult technical understanding drawings

Land-use changes triggered by the expansion of wine-growing areas: a study on the Municipalities in the Prosecco’s production zone (Italy)

The goal of this paper is to develop an analysis of the land-use changes generated by the expansion of viticulture in the Veneto Region (North-Eastern Italy). Empirical evidences were collected by the author in an area, located 50 km North of Venice, where the globally known sparkling Prosecco wine is produced. In recent years, Prosecco has become the most popular Italian sparkling wine in global exports. With a steadily expanding national and international demand, official statistics and discourses clearly shed light on Prosecco’s significant productive, economic and commercial worldwide success. However, ever-growing demand implies adjusting the supply of product, which in turn means a remarkable expansion of grape-growing land. In the Prosecco region, this dynamic has become clearly evident, leading to changes in the configuration of agrarian landscapes, as well as to intense and widespread social conflicts. As the first GIS in-depth analysis of the phenomenon of Prosecco within the planning field, this paper quantitatively assesses, through institutional data, the main characteristics of a dynamic which is radically changing Veneto’s landscape. Such dynamic is progressively replacing traditional cropland, grassland and woodland with vineyards producing Prosecco. The analysis focuses specifically on the 32 Municipalities – in the Province of Treviso – wholly or partly located within the two institutional Prosecco DOCG (Denominazioni di Origine Controllate e Garantite) zones, and calls for a renewed effective land-use policy for the region of Prosecco as a tool for harmonizing the production rationality of grape-growers and other land-uses (mostly residential)

Partimenti by Bernardo Pasquini – Realisation of Selected Bassi from Sonate per uno o due Cembali con il basso cifrato

Bernardo Pasquini (1637–1710) was one of the very first composers to write partimenti, albeit he did not use the word “partimento”. He titled his works for one or two keyboards, written in the form of basso continuo, as Basso, Basso continuo, Sonata, Versetto etc. One of his manuscripts that include partimenti, entitled Sonate per uno o due Cembali con il basso cifrato, is held in the British Library of London, under the signature number Ms. Add. 31501, I. Two works from this collection, Basso Continuo [II] and [Basso IV], are realised by the Author as fully composed pieces and presented below. The realisation of these Partimenti intends to engage a polyphonic texture according to the rules of basso continuo and counterpoint adequate to the aesthetics and techniques of the music from the Baroque era. Realisations represent different genres of instrumental music of the 18th century, they apply counterpoint (fugue, fughetta and imitation texture) or freer techniques (figurative sonata, polyphonic fantasia)

This paper has been written in honour of the lamented Giovanni Riggi di Numana, a later STURP Member who was authorized to vacuum some dusts from the Turin Shroud in 1978 and 1988. One of his purposes was to detect and sample linen fibers coming from the Turin Shroud from other particles, that will be useful for future studies. For this reason he freely and gratis furnished some aspired dusts “to lost fund” to the first author. The present paper is a first result to realize hope of Giovanni Riggi di Numana who should have been very happy to see that his important contribution to the Turin Shroud was not forgotten by the scientific community
