Current Status of the Copper High-β QWR Cavities and Plates Niobium Deposition for the ALPI Upgrade Project in the Framework of the SPES Facility

    No full text
The ALPI linac will be used in the SPES facility for acceleration and re-acceleration of the radioactive beam of interest. The ALPI linac in Legnaro National Laboratories is in an upgrade stage in order to fit the SPES facility requirements. One of the main scenarios of the upgrade is implementation of two cryostats in high-β section of the linac. Development and modification of the Nb/Cu sputtering technology for production of the high-β QWR cavities and plates has been performed for several years in INFN LNL. The latest results of the cavities and plates niobium deposition will be described in this paper

Allylstannation of alfa-, beta- and gamma-diketones mediated by allyldibutyltin halides: Bu2(2CH=CHCH2)SnCl and Bu(2CH=CHCH2)SnCl2

Butane-2,3- (la), pentane-2,4- (Ib) and hexane-2,5-dione (Ic) react with Bu-2(CH2=CHCH2)SnCl in the presence of water to give monoallylated keto-ols (2a, 2b) and/or diallylated diols (3a, 3b, 3c), this depending upon the employed molar ratio [diketone]/[allyltin chloride]. Bu(CH2=CHCH2)SnCl2 reacts with neat Ic in a one-pot synthesis to give mixtures of heterocyclic compounds: 2,5-diallyl-2,5-dimethyltetrahydrofuran (4), and 3-chloro-1,5-dimethyl-8-oxabicyclo [3,2,1] octane (5). Compound 4 is also obtained in high yield from the corresponding diol 3c by cyclodehydration promoted by RSnCl3 (R = Me and Bu

CESAREAN SECTION RATES IN ITALIAN REGIONS: 1998-2002

    No full text
Cesarean section (c-section) rates have been increasing in many countries, and too frequently this rise does not seem to be justified by clinical grounds. To reduce c-section rates and achieve a proportion of 20% is among the goals of the Italian National Health Plan. In the following paper we provide an update on the distribution of rates amongst Italian regions and describe the association between regional hospital volumes and c-section rates. The national c-section rate increased from 31% in 1998 to 36% in 2002. The rates varied among regions and ranged from 20% in the Province of Bolzano to 56% in Campania. A significant association was observed between the regional hospital volumes for deliveries an

Ethnic variation in the prevalence of depression and anxiety in primary care: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Primary care plays a key role in the detection and management of depression and anxiety. At present it is not clear if the prevalence of depression and anxiety in primary care differs between migrants and ethnic minorities (MI) and natives and ethnic majorities (MA). A systematic review and a meta-analysis of studies comparing the prevalence of depression and anxiety in MI and MA in primary care were performed. Studies were identified by searching MEDLINE, PsychINFO, EMBASE and through hand-search. We included 25 studies, most of which had a relatively small sample size. Significant variations were found in the prevalence of anxiety and depression across studies. Pooled analyses were carried out for 23 studies, based on random-effects models. Pooled RR of depression and anxiety in MI were 1.21 (95% CI 1.04-1.40, p=0.012) and 1.01 (95% CI 0.76-1.32, p=0.971), with high heterogeneity (I2=87.2% and I2=73%). Differences in prevalence rates among studies can be accounted for by inclusion criteria, sampling methods, diagnostic instruments and study design. Further research on larger samples and with culturally adapted instruments is needed to estimate the prevalence of depression and anxiety in MI seeking help for these disorders
