Data of cost-optimal solutions and retrofit design methods for school renovation in a warm climate
No full textAbstract"Efficient Solutions and Cost-Optimal Analysis for Existing School Buildings" (Paolo Maria Congedo, Delia D’Agostino, Cristina Baglivo, Giuliano Tornese, Ilaria Zacà) [1] is the paper that refers to this article. It reports the data related to the establishment of several variants of energy efficient retrofit measures selected for two existing school buildings located in the Mediterranean area. In compliance with the cost-optimal analysis described in the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and its guidelines (EU, Directive, EU 244,) [2,3], these data are useful for the integration of renewable energy sources and high performance technical systems for school renovation. The data of cost-efficient high performance solutions are provided in tables that are explained within the following sections.The data focus on the describe school refurbishment sector to which European policies and investments are directed. A methodological approach already used in previous studies about new buildings is followed (Baglivo Cristina, Congedo Paolo Maria, D׳Agostino Delia, Zacà Ilaria, 2015; IlariaZacà, Delia D’Agostino, Paolo Maria Congedo, Cristina Baglivo; Baglivo Cristina, Congedo Paolo Maria, D’Agostino Delia, Zacà Ilaria, 2015; Ilaria Zacà, Delia D’Agostino, Paolo Maria Congedo, Cristina Baglivo, 2015; Paolo Maria Congedo, Cristina Baglivo, IlariaZacà, Delia D’Agostino,2015) [4–8]. The files give the cost-optimal solutions for a kindergarten (REF1) and a nursery (REF2) school located in Sanarica and Squinzano (province of Lecce Southern Italy). The two reference buildings differ for construction period, materials and systems.The eleven tables provided contain data about the localization of the buildings, geometrical features and thermal properties of the envelope, as well as the energy efficiency measures related to walls, windows, heating, cooling, dhw and renewables. Output values of energy consumption, gas emission and costs are given for a financial and a macro-economic analysis.This data article provides 288 and 96 combinations for REF1 and REF2, respectively. The output values are obtained using the software ProCasaClima 2015v.2.0
Nuove Prospettive diagnostiche dell'infezione da Pnumocystis carini
No full textNel corso di recenti ricerche sono emersi alcuni dati di rilevante interesse:
1- Evidenziazione di P. carinii in soggetti HIV positivi asintomatici ed HIV negativi esenti da infezioni respiratorie in atto (1). Sono in corso a tal proposito ricerche sistematiche volte a stabilire il significato del riscontro di P. carinii in secrezioni broncoalveolari di pazienti con o senza infezione da HIV, dell'eventuale presenza di stipiti differenti del microrganismo e del loro ruolo nella malattia;
2- Isolamento di P. carinii da cellule mononucleate di pazienti di AIDS con PCP, coltivate su linea A549 di derivazione umana (2). Tale sistema, che ha consentito di porre diagnosi di PCP in una vasta percentuale di casi, potrebbe rappresentare, se i risultati verranno confermati da più ampie casistiche, un approccio alternativo o complementare alla diagnosi dell'infezione da P. carinii.
3- Evidenziazione di alcune componenti ad attività proteasica (MW 100-50 kDa) mediante copolimerizzazione del substrato in gel di poliacrilamide (3). L'impiego di questa metodica ha permesso di visualizzare in Pneumocystis 6 bande ad attività proteasica. In particolare, é stato osservato che la banda 90 kDa viene inibita dall'EDTA, inibitore selettivo delle metalloproteasi. La purificazione di tale banda mediante cromatografia su HPT, suggerisce che questa proteasi é fortemente basica in quanto eluita da cationi bivalenti.
Ulteriori ricerche sono in corso per stabilire il ruolo di questa proteasi nella patogenesi dell'infezione.

No full textLucha Corpi\u27s novel, Delia\u27s Song, operates on several levels which remain basically disparate; that is, we seldom have a sense of complete integration. Perhaps, finally Delia herself, must be seen as symbolic of the Chicana in search of self, although even this falters at times. Finally we cannot be sure if Delia represents all Chicana women, the educated Chicana, or the emerging Chicana. Even her name, Artemis, the one from Delos .... Delia, the beautiful huntress, compounds the dilemma. Huntress of what? We\u27ve witnessed her sexual encounters with various males, Daniel, Mario, Fernando, Roger (the Anglo), Jeff, which suggest that a paradox exists even in her name. Artemis was not only a beautiful huntress, she was also chaste. Often the omniscient author suggests that perhaps Delia is schizophrenic. Two people, equally strong, live in you, Cammille, the dabbler in astrology, tells her. Nor is this the first time the idea has occurred. The character herself eludes us, even though in Joycean style, the author allows us free access to Delia\u27s mind. She claims she\u27s always been subservient, but we see a unique individual behaving in unorthodox ways, a paradox again. And the title is no less difficult. What is her song? Is it a lament, a dirge? Is it a song of triumph? A lyric? We learn from Mattie that this is the title of one of Delia\u27s poems that is shaky at the end. The uncertainty remains

“Characterization of α-Al2O3 supports modified with CeO2 and ZrO2”
No full textα-Al2O3 is a catalytic support adequate by its high stability, availability, and low cost, although it presents as principal disadvantage its limited surface area and reactivity. These disadvantages in the support lead to catalysts of low metallic dispersion and with weak interaction metal-support. According to characterization results obtained in this work, the addition of small amounts of Ce and Zr oxides to α-Al2O3 leads to CexZr1 − xO2 composites, thus conferring higher reactivity to the surface due to the presence of basic nature sites. This fact together with the well known oxygen storage capacity of these mixed oxides present in composites allow to obtain supports of optimal properties to prevent the sintering and the formation of superficial carbon present in the catalytic deactivation.Fil: Pompeo, Francisco.
