Uma aplicação prática em Excel na análise de projetos de viabilidade econômica

Economia.O presente estudo faz uma aplicação do programa EXCEL no processo de montagem e análise da viabilidade econômica de projetos. Trata-se, portanto, de uma aplicação prática deste software no desdobramento das diferentes fases de elaboração de um projeto empresarial, podendo o mesmo, ser aplicado em um grande número de projetos que apresentem a mesma característica. O EXCEL mostrou ser uma ferramenta apropriada para este tipo de trabalho, permitindo que o analista de projetos desdobre as atividades fundamentais de um projeto e construa os cálculos considerados necessários para mostrar a interação entre as variáveis e a forma pela qual se dá o estudo da viabilidade econômica. O modelo computacional apresentado neste trabalho de pesquisa demonstra a importância do uso de ferramentas dessa natureza no trabalho de análise econômica, oportunidade em que se ressalta o fato de que o seu uso reduz o tempo de montagem e análise. Com isso, o presente trabalho mostra que uma idéia inovadora pode proporcionar maior agilidade e precisão no processo de alocação das variáveis que fazem parte da análise econômica, diminuindo o risco na implantação de um negócio. O resultado obtido com esta simulação permite afirmar que, não obstante a oferta muito grande no mercado de consultoria econômica usando modelos que usam cálculos complexos via o uso de algoritmos, existem poucos estudos aplicados recentemente com o EXCEL como uma ferramenta de simulação de projetos

Computing Multivariate Process Capability Indices With Microsoft Excel
Full text linkIn manufacturing industry there is growing interest in measures of process capability under multivariate setting. While there are many statistical packages to assess univariate capability, a current problem with the multivariate measures of capability is the shortage of user friendly software. In this paper a Visual Basic program has been developed to realize an Excel spreadsheet that may be used to compute two multivariate measures of capability. Our aim is to provide a useful tool for practitioners dealing with multivariate capability assessment problems. An Excel Add-In for Statistical Process Control Charts
Full text linkStatistical process control (SPC) descibes a widely-used set of approaches used to detect shifts in processes in, for example, manufacturing. Among these are "control charts". Control charts and other SPC techniques have been in use since at least the'50s, and, because they are comparatively unsophisticated, are often used by management or operations personnel without formal statistical training. These personnel will often have experience with the popular spreadsheet program Excel, but may have less training on a mainstream statistical package. Base Excel does not provide the ability to draw control charts directly, although add-ins for that purpose are available for purchase. We present a free add-in for Excel that draws the most common sorts of control charts. It follows the development of the textbook of Montgomery (2005), so it may be well-suited for instructional purposes.

Calling the lp_solve Linear Program Software from R, S-PLUS and Excel
Full text linkWe present a link that allows R, S-PLUS and Excel to call the functions in the lp_solve system. lp_solve is free software (licensed under the GNU Lesser GPL) that solves linear and mixed integer linear programs of moderate size (on the order of 10,000 variables and 50,000 constraints). R does not include this ability (though two add-on packages offer linear programs without integer variables), while S-PLUS users need to pay extra for the NuOPT library in order to solve these problems. Our link manages the interface between these statistical packages and lp_solve. Excel has a built-in add-in named Solver that is capable of solving mixed integer programs, but only with fewer than 200 variables. This link allows Excel users to handle substantially larger problems at no extra cost. While our primary concern has been the Windows operating system, the package has been tested on some Unix-type systems as well.
