Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textThe aim of the following research was to describe the knowledge that teachers of Career Education, mention Learning Dissabilities, possess about learning strategies and their application as beginners of the subjects that they teach. With this purpose, it was made a descriptive field research. It was used a questionnaire made in two parts: A and B. For analyzing the data were used the descriptive statistics techniques. It was determinate that teachers know learning strategies and they apply them as beginners of the subjects they teach. The review techniques are the least used applied by them, and the most used are those of elaboration, organization, critical thinking, metacognition, time management, study environment, effort regulation, like learning and search for help.La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo describir los conocimientos que poseen los docentes de la Carrera de Educación, mención Dificultades de Aprendizaje sobre estrategias de aprendizaje y la aplicación que hacen de éstas como aprendices de las materias que enseñan. Para tal fin, se realizó una investigación de campo, de carácter descriptivo. Se empleó un cuestionario construido en dos partes A y B. Para el análisis de los datos, se utilizaron las técnicas de estadística descriptiva. Se determinó que los docentes tienen conocimiento sobre las estrategias de aprendizaje y las aplican como aprendices de las materias que enseñan; las menos utilizadas son las de repaso; y las de mayor uso las de elaboración, organización, pensamiento crítico, metacognición, manejo del tiempo y ambiente de estudio, regulación del esfuerzo, aprendizaje con pares y búsqueda de ayuda.

No full textHoy día, toda investigación educativa puede convertirse en una iniciativa para generar o
proponer un emprendimiento personal, cultural, organizacional o empresarial. Esta debe contar
con estrategias que le permitan exponer resultados para participar de manera competitiva en los
mercados y espacios en los que le toca interactuar. Dichas estrategias han de basarse en los
resultados que arroje la investigación sobre las condiciones propicias para desarrollar determinado
emprendimiento y ponerlo en práctica en el territorio donde pueda aplicarse. En este sentido,
todo educador está sujeto a través de sus investigaciones a conocer con claridad y precisión cómo
los resultados de estas contribuyen con el valor de su investigación, así como para los actores
involucrados en el contexto en el que se desarrolla esta.
La siguiente compilación muestra once artículos que se presentaron en el marco de la XVI
Jornada de Investigación Educativa y V Congreso Internacional de Educación. Evento que se llevó a
cabo en los espacios de la Escuela de Educación de la Universidad Central de Venezuela del 17 al
21 de octubre de 2016. Tienen un común denominador, abordan experiencias emprendedoras en
educación y las muestran a través de las investigaciones e innovaciones realizadas. Se ha dividido
en dos partes, la primera titulada “La investigación y el emprendimiento” y la segunda “La
innovación y el emprendimiento”, constituidas por cinco y seis artículos respectivamente, lo que
hacen un total de once trabajos investigativos que aportan de manera significativa, no solo a las
instituciones y contextos donde se realizaron sino también al ámbito nacional e internacional
