In the last decade, knowledge has emerged as one of the most important and valuable organizational assets. Gradually this importance caused to emergence of new discipline entitled ―knowledge management‖. However one of the major challenges of knowledge management is conversion implicit or tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge. Thus Making knowledge visible so that it can be better accessed, discussed, valued or generally managed is a long-standing objective in knowledge management. Accordingly in this paper author co- citation analysis (ACA) will be proposed as an efficient technique of knowledge visualization in academia (Scholar knowledge workers)

    No full text

Effects of Low-Energy Shockwave Therapy on the Erectile Function and Tissue of a Diabetic Rat Model

Introduction. Low-energy shockwave therapy (LESWT) has been shown to improve erectile function in patients suffering from diabetes mellitus (DM)-associated erectile dysfunction (ED). However, the underlying mechanism remains unknown. Aim. The aim of this study is to investigate whether LESWT can ameliorate DM-associated ED in a rat model and examine the associated changes in the erectile tissues. Methods. Newborn male rats were intraperitoneally injected with 5-ethynyl-2-deoxyuridine (EdU; 50mg/kg) for the purpose of tracking endogenous mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Eight weeks later, eight of these rats were randomly chosen to serve as normal control (N group). The remaining rats were injected intraperitoneally with 60mg/kg of streptozotocin (STZ) to induce DM. Eight of these rats were randomly chosen to serve as DM control (DM group), whereas another eight rats were subject to shockwave (SW) treatment (DM+SW group). Each rat in the DM+SW group received 300 shocks at energy level of 0.1mJ/mm2 and frequency of 120/minute. This procedure was repeated three times a week for 2 weeks. Another 2 weeks later, all 24 rats were evaluated for erectile function by intracavernous pressure (ICP) measurement. Afterward, their penile tissues were examined by histology. Main Outcome Measures. Erectile function was measured by ICP. Neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS)-positive nerves and the endothelium were examined by immunofluorescence staining. Smooth muscle and MSCs were examined by phalloidin and EdU staining, respectively. Results. STZ treatment caused a significant decrease in erectile function and in the number of nNOS-positive nerves and in endothelial and smooth muscle contents. These DM-associated deficits were all partially but significantly reversed by LESWT. MSCs (EdU-positive cells) were significantly more numerous in DM+SW than in DM rats. Conclusion. LESWT can partially ameliorate DM-associated ED by promoting regeneration of nNOS-positive nerves, endothelium, and smooth muscle in the penis. These beneficial effects appear to be mediated by recruitment of endogenous MSCs. Qiu X, Lin G, Xin Z, Ferretti L, Zhang H, Lue TF, and Lin C-S. [[abstract]]A Study on the Relationship Between Human Resource Management Activities and Organizational Performance in Health and Sport Clubs---taking “YOUTHCAMP PARIS” for example Haung, Cheng-Lin Advisor: Cheng, Chih-fu Ed. D. Abstract The purposes of this thesis were to reveal the reality of human resource management activities and organizational performance in health and sport clubs in Taiwan, to uncover the differences between employees’ demographic variables and to probe the relationship between human resource management activities and organizational performance. Four hundred and twenty six employees of YOUTHCAMP PARIS served as the subject of this study. The instrument “Organizational Performance Measuring Scale” were adopted. One-way ANOVA, multiple stepwise regression and canonical correlation analysis were utilized for data analysis and the results were as followed: 1. The human resource management activities and organizational performance in health and sport clubs were desirable. 2. Significant differences were found in the employees’ cognition at the different variables; especially, the employees who were male, senior and married. 3. It existed a canonical correlation between human resource management activities and organizational performance. 4. In health and sport clubs, organizational performance could be predicted effectively by human resource management activities; especially, the variable of “training” and the variable of “employment”. Key words: health and sport club, human resource management activities, organizational performance.

A Connectionist and Multivariate Approach to Science Maps: Som, Clustering and Mds Applied to Library & Information Science Research.

The visualization of scientific field structures is a classic of scientometric studies. This paper presents a domain analysis of the library and information science discipline based on author co-citation analysis (ACA) and journal cocitation analysis (JCA). The techniques used for map construction are the self-organizing map (SOM) neural algorithm, Ward’s clustering method and multidimensional scaling (MDS). The results of this study are compared with similar research developed by Howard White and Katherine McCain [1]. The methodologies used allow us to confirm that the subject domains identified in this paper are, as well, present in our study for the corresponding period. The appearance of studies pertaining to library science reveals the relationship of this realm with information science. Especially significant is the presence of the management on the journal maps. From a methodological standpoint, meanwhile, we would agree with those authors who consider MDS, the SOM and clustering as complementary methods that provide representations of the same reality from different analytical points of view. Even so, the MDS representation is the one offering greater possibilities for the structural representation of the clusters in a set of variables

The essay provides experimental paths for the protection of lin- guistic and national minorities, with particular reference to the ea- stern Italy and Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region in the period before the introduction of the new European regulatory framework in 2006 which introduced the possibility of setting up European Groups of territorial cooperation. The CBC (crossborder cooperation) and the evolving role of regions and local authorities in the field of “in - ternational relations” are considered by the author useful to achieve better international relations in areas where minorities are divided by borders of nation state
