The Evolution of Grain Policy Beyond Europe: Ottoman Grain Administration in the Late Eighteenth Century
No full textDuring the second half of the eighteenth century, the Ottoman policy-makers adopted a more liberal attitude towards price formation in the Ottoman grain markets. This was accompanied by the fiscal and administrative centralization of the grain trade. These seemingly contradictory policy changes could, in part, be explained in the context of conjectural changes in grain demand and supply, which rendered pre-emptive privileges and price controls less effective. The policy change, however, was not only a practical response to the strains on the pre-existing supply network but also reflected a new concern with the state of agricultural production along with the emergence of emulation as a development strategy.Ottoman economic institutions, grain markets, liberalization

O embaixador chega a Toulon no dia 22 de novembro de 1720, segue para Paris passando por Bordeaux e pelo vale do Loire; permanecendo em Paris de 16 de março a 3 de agosto de 1721; em seguida desce para Sète, passando por Lyon. A Relação na primeira pessoa refere-se principalmente ao visual, já que a comunicação lingüística era das mais limitadas. Ela retém essencialmente realizações concretas, científicas e técnicas que suscitam a admiração: os cenários da ópera, os instrumentos de astronomia, o canal do Midi, ou a “máquina de Marly”... Variations on the Author
No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

It was established specifically for urban Jewish garment workers, many of whom had emigrated from Europe. President John F. Kennedy sent a telegram to the citizens of Roosevelt, New Jersey, apologizing for not being able to attend the memorial dedication in honor of former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. (Jersey Homesteads became Roosevelt in 1945 in honor of the president.) President Kennedy expressed his gratitude to the people of Roosevelt for constructing the memorial, and commented that it will serve as a constant reminder of Roosevelt's good works

No full textTelah dilakukan analisa kadar fluorida (F-) dan kekeruhan pada air minum dan air bersih di Balai Teknik Kesehatan Lingkungan dan Pengendalian Penyakit (BTKLPP) Kelas 1 Medan. Analisa kadar fluorida dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode spektrofotometri pada panjang gelombang 580 nm dan analisa kekeruhan dilakukan dengan metode turbidimetri. Hasil analisa kadar fluorida untuk sampel air minum dan air bersih diperoleh hasil sampel 1 : 0,74 mg/L dan <0,02 mg/L, sampel 2 : 0,06 mg/L dan <0,02 mg/L. Kadar kekeruhan diperoleh hasil sampel 1 : 1,14 NTU dan 1,01 NTU, sampel 2 : 1,35 NTU dan 1,26 NTU. Dari data di atas menunjukkan kadar fluorida dan kekeruhan pada air minum memenuhi baku mutu sesuai dengan 492/Menkes/Per/IV/2010 sebesar 1,5 mg/L dan 5 NTU. Pada air bersih memenuhi baku mutu sesuai dengan 416/Menkes/Per/IX/1990 sebesar 1,5 mg/L dan 25 NTU.Fluoride level (F-) analysis and turbidity in drinking water and clean water have been carried out at the Balai Teknik Kesehatan Lingkungan dan Pengendalian Penyakit Kelas 1 Medan. Fluoride level analysis was carried out using the spectrophotometric method on wavelength 580 nm and turbidity analysis was carried out using the turbidimetry method. The analysis of fluoride content for drinking water and clean water samples, the results of sample 1: 0.74 mg / L and <0.02 mg / L, sample 2: 0.06 mg / L and <0.02 mg / L . The turbidity level obtained from the sample 1: 1.14 NTU and 1.01 NTU, sample 2: 1.35 NTU and 1.26 NTU. From the data above shows fluoride levels and turbidity in drinking water meet quality standards in accordance with 492 / Menkes / Per / IV / 2010 of 1.5 mg / L and 5 NTU. Logarithmic variance profiles and the corresponding f-1 spectra of temperature fluctuations in turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection
No full textWe report experimental results for the temperature variance 2(z) and the corresponding frequency spectra P(f) in turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection (RBC) in a cylindrical sample of aspect ratioT= D/L = 1:00 (D = 1:12 m is the diameter and L = 1:12 m the height). The measurements were conducted in the Rayleigh-number range 1011 < Ra < 1:35 1014 and Pr ' 0:8. For Ra = 1:35x1014, 2(z) could be described well by a logarithmic dependence on the vertical position z in a range of z 1 < z < z 2 with z 1 ' 70 and z 2 = 0:1L. Here L=(2Nu) is the thickness of a thin thermal sublayer adjacent to the horizontal plate where the heat flux (denoted by the Nusselt number Nu) is carried mostly by thermal diffusion. In the log layer, we found that the temperature spectra had a significant frequency range over which P(f) f with close to 1. As Ra decreased, increased so that the log layer became thinner. At Ra = 2:05 1011, z 2 < z 1 and therefore there was no range for a log layer. Correspondingly, the temperature spectrum near the horizontal plate did not have the f1 scaling form either
