LIBER-EBLIDA digitisation workshop
Full text link95 participants from 23 countries attended a Workshop on the Digitisation of Library Material in Europe, from 24 to 26 October 2007 in the Royal Library, Copenhagen, Denmark. The Workshop was jointly organised by LIBER and EBLIDA. In a full report on the Workshop on the JISC website, the JISC highlighted that ‘high on the agenda were moves towards a European Digital Library – the delivery of integrated access to the digitised collections of libraries, archives and museums across the EU.’ At a global level, this was indeed one of the main aims of the Workshop. As the Chair of the breakout groups, and the final session of the Workshop, I gave an interview for the JISC immediately after the final session where I looked at what I thought were some of the issues to be identified by the Workshop. The purpose of this paper is to describe some of these issues in a little more detail and outline what work LIBER and EBLIDA have undertaken in the wake of the significant momentum which the Workshop has engendered for European digitisation activity

Full text linkVinte anos depois da elaboração, aprovação e publicação das Diretrizes sobre Legislação e Política de Bibliotecas na Europa do Conselho da Europa/EBLIDA, a EBLIDA formulou uma nova proposta de diretrizes, cuja aprovação pelo Conselho da Europa está a ser oficializada.
Durante estes vinte anos, a sociedade sofreu alterações inimagináveis na viragem do século, tornando as anteriores diretrizes desatualizadas e desajustadas.
As novas diretrizes refletem as preocupações atuais, e procuram ir de encontro às necessidades expressas pelos bibliotecários europeus nas sucessivas auscultações que a EBLIDA tem vindo a realizar.
Esta comunicação visa a apresentação comentada das novas diretrizes, ao mesmo tempo que pretende relançar, ou manter em discussão, a questão da formulação de uma lei de bibliotecas para Portugal
A summary of IFLA, Eblida, Liber and Fesabid activities in 2014
Full text linkThis review reflects on the activities carried out during 2014 by four professional associations on Library and Information Science: IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions), Eblida (European Bureau of Library, Information and Documentation Associations), Liber (Association of European Research Libraries) and Fesabid (Spanish Federation of Archive, Library, Documentation and Museum Societies). Regarding the situation in Spain, the author regrets the current fragmentation into small local associations, despite the existence of a federation (Fesabid), because this weakens the Spanish professional community as a whole
