General self-efficacy, career adaptability, and hope: A model test for university students in Turkey
No full textThe university years are when individuals evaluate their qualifications, make choices about their careers, and develop the adaptation process and skills they may need for the careers that they may choose. In this context, individuals' competencies and abilities in various fields play an essential role. Four hundred nine university students (304 female, 105 male) participated in this study. This research explains the theoretical model that the variables of general self-efficacy, and career adaptability affect the hope through structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings of general self-efficacy and career adaptability explain hope by 85%. In addition, career adaptability has a mediating role in the relationship between general self-efficacy and hope. These results are thought to be essential for the guidance services to be implemented at the university level
The relationship between career decision making self-efficacy and emotional intelligence, career optimism, locus of control and proactive personality: A meta-analysis study
No full textAlthough there are studies on career decision-making selfefficacy and emotional intelligence, career optimism, locus of control, and proactive personality, no study addresses these four variables together. Therefore, this metaanalysis study examined the correlational findings between career decision-making selfefficacy and four different variables (emotional intelligence, career optimism, locus of control, and proactive personality). In this study, studies published between 19932022 examining the relationship between the variables determined from 10 scientific databases (Eric, JSTOR, Sage Journal, Google Academic, Scopus, Springer Ling, Taylor, and Francis ULAKBIM, Proquest, EBSCO) and career decision-making self-efficacy were used. As a result of the research, career decision-making selfefficacy and optimism (r = 0.46; 95% CI [0.33, 0.57]), locus of control (r = 0.36; 95% CI [0.02, 0.62]), proactive personality (r = 0.47; %) 95 CI [0.37, 0.57]) and emotional intelligence (r = 0.45; 95% CI [0.35, 0.54]) were found to be significantly correlated. These critical results point to promising aspects for researchers and practitioners working in career counseling
Parenting warmth, trait emotional intelligence, positive conflict resolution and marital quality: Structural equation modeling
No full textThis study examines a hypothetical model underlying the relationship between perceived warmth from mothers and fathers and marital quality. Structural equation modeling (SEM) and a multistep path test were used to examine the hypothetical model. 482 (361 women, 121 men, Mage = 35.06 years, SD = 9.79) married individuals in Turkey participated in the study. SEM and path analyses showed a good fit for the hypothetical model of the study. Positive conflict resolution skills mediated the link between trait emotional intelligence and marital quality. Implications for researchers and practitioners for future studies on couples are discussed
Novel use in psychological counseling and guidance education: An analysis of the novel of "oblomov" in terms of reality therapy

Analyzing the attitudes of the characters, reflecting them, depicting their life frame and experiences are among the most important features of the novels. At this point, it is not surprising that there is a relationship between novels and psychology. In this study, it was aimed to examine the work named "Oblomov" in terms of reality therapy in order to show the use of novel in psychological counseling and guidance education. Reality therapy is based on the necessity of taking responsibility and the choices individuals make throughout their lives. Basic requirement, choice and responsibility, quality world-picture album, being here and now, successful and failure identity, etc. concepts constitute some of the basic concepts of reality therapy. The study was carried out with an analytical research model. In addition to being among the important classics of World Literature, the novel discussed in this study can be examined in terms of reality therapy because it deals with a character that has never met the need for freedom, does not value himself, and has difficulty in fulfilling his duties in life. This research has shown that the novel "Oblomov" can be used as an additional resource to understand the concepts of reality therapy and to illustrate the concepts
The exclusion experienced by adolescents plays a mediating role in the effect of their insecure attachments on their depressive experiences: A cross-sectional study among high school students in Turkey
No full textThis study examined the mediating role of ostracism in the relationship between adolescents' attachment styles and depression levels. The sample of this study consists of 621 adolescents (66.8% (n = 415) female and 33.2% (n = 206) male) living in one of the developed cities in Turkey. The results showed that ostracism partially mediates the relationship between secure, avoidant, and anxious-ambivalent attachment styles and depression. Based on the results of the study, we confirmed that ostracism partially mediates the relationship between secure attachment and depression. Secure attachment predicted ostracism and depression negatively; we found that ostracism predicted depression positively. Secondly, we found that avoidant attachment predicted depression and ostracism positively, and ostracism played a mediating role in this relationship. Finally, we concluded that anxious-ambivalent attachment positively explains ostracism and depression and that ostracism plays a mediating role in this relationship
Relationship between parenting styles and multidimensional perfectionism: A meta-analysis study
No full textPerfectionism is a personality trait consisting of many dimensions, and various factors are effective in the formation of this personality trait. At this point, parenting styles appear as a factor that should be examined. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between multidimensional perfectionism and parenting styles. For the study, the Eric, JSTOR, Sage Journal, Scopus, Springer Link, Taylor & Francis Online, Google Scholar, Ulakbim, YÖK (the Council of Higher Education), EBSCO Open Dissertations and ProQuest Dissertation and Thesis databases were used. “Parenting styles” and “perfectionism” were used as search terms in the databases. Seven studies met the selection criteria to be included in the meta-analysis. Random effect model was used in the analysis. As a result of the analysis, a weak and positive relationship was found between perfectionist strivings and parenting styles except permissive parenting styles. A weak and positive directional relationship between perfectionist concerns and authoritarian, protective and permissive parenting styles was also found. Moreover, a weak negative relationship between perfectionist concerns and authoritative parental style was found. There was a positive relationship between order, which is the last dimension of perfectionism, and authoritative and protective parenting styles. A weak negative relationship was found between order and authoritarian parenting style. The findings of this study revealed that all three dimensions of perfectionism are related to four parenting styles
Parental support, perfectionism and career development: A model test for middle school students
No full textMiddle school years are when young people need environmental support for career development. In this context, parents play an essential role in the career development of young people. The sample of the study consisted of 368 middle school students (236 girls, 132 boys). The model of the mediating role of self-oriented perfectionism between parental support and career development in middle school students was tested. Participants completed self-report data collection tools to assess career development, career-related parental support, and perfectionism. As a result of the analyses in which the structural equation model was used, it was determined that the model showed a good fit. In addition, self-oriented perfectionism has a mediating role in the relationship between parental support and career development. These results are thought to be essential for the guidance services to be applied in career development
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
