Application of ZEM/ZEV guidance for closed-loop transfer in the Earth-Moon System
The vision for advanced missions to the lunar far-side brings many challenges to the forefront of the space community. This paper focuses on two subjects pertaining to lunar far-side operations: utilization of a feedback guidance algorithm and the ability to exploit invariant manifolds for reaching desired states in a fuel efficient manner. The performance of the δr/δv form of the ZEM/ZEV (Zero-Effort-Miss/Zero-Effort-Velocity) feedback guidance algorithm is evaluated through scenarios in the Circular Restricted Three-Body Problem. All scenarios include the use of invariant manifolds to complete transfers. A grid search is implemented to find invariant manifolds and δr/δv trajectories that minimize the fuel used during the transfer. Overall, the use of the δr/δv guidance algorithm for targeting manifolds is successful when thrust is not saturated, but becomes problematic when thrust saturation exists. Conclusions were drawn by exploring halo to halo transfers, descending from, and ascending to the lunar far-side

Thermal requirements for growth, survival and aerobic performance of weatherfish larvae Misgurnus fossilis
Thermal requirements of larval weatherfish Misgurnus fossilis were investigated in terms of growth, survival and aerobic performance. Growth and survival of M. fossilis larvae acclimated to five temperatures (11, 15, 19, 23 and 27° C) were measured over 25 days. In the upper temperature treatments (19, 23 and 27° C), survival of larvae was stable throughout the entire rearing period (>75%), whereas 11 and 15° C resulted in severe declines in survival (to 27° C. All larvae of the 35° C regime, however, died within the ṀO2 measurement period. M. fossilis larvae show greater than expected tolerance of high temperatures. On the other hand, low temperatures that are within the range of likely habitat conditions are critical because they might lead to high mortality rates when larvae are exposed over periods >10 days. These findings help to improve rearing conditions and to identify suitable waters for stocking and thus support the management of re-introduction activities for endangered M. fossilis

Customizing thermometry: Optimizing the operating temperature range of phase transition-based ratiometric luminescence thermometers
Phase transition-based thermometers, which are widely known for their remarkable sensitivity to temperature changes, exhibit a narrow temperature range owing to the stoichiometry of the host material. This limits the applicability of optical sensors utilizing structural phase transitions. In this study, we introduce a co-doping method for modulating the properties of phase transition-based luminescent thermometers to influence the phase transition temperature. We demonstrate that by adjusting the ionic radius of the dopant and its concentration, the transition temperature can be finely tuned across a broad temperature spectrum. The proposed technique enables the customization of luminescent thermometers with enhanced sensitivities and practical temperature ranges tailored to specific user requirements. This study represents a crucial advancement towards the development of personalized luminescence thermometers

A Pilot Study on Early-Onset Schizophrenia Reveals the Implication of Wnt, Cadherin and Cholecystokinin Receptor Signaling in Its Pathophysiology
Early-Onset Schizophrenia (EOS) is a very rare mental disorder that is a form of schizophrenia occurring before the age of 18. EOS is a brain disease marked by an early onset of positive and negative symptoms of psychosis that impact development and cognitive functioning. Clinical manifestations commonly include premorbid features of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), attention deficits, Intellectual Disability (ID), neurodevelopmental delay, and behavioral disturbances. After the onset of psychotic symptoms, other neuropsychiatric comorbidities are also common, including obsessive-compulsive disorder, major depressive disorder, expressive and receptive language disorders, auditory processing, and executive functioning deficits. With the purpose to better gain insight into the genetic bases of this disorder, we developed a pilot project performing whole exome sequencing of nine trios affected by EOS, ASD, and mild ID. We carried out gene prioritization by combining multiple bioinformatic tools allowing us to identify the main pathways that could underpin the neurodevelopmental phenotypes of these patients. We identified the presence of variants in genes belonging to the Wnt, cadherin and cholecystokinin receptor signaling pathways
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
