Saica apicalis Osborn & Drake 1915
Saica apicalis Osborn & Drake, 1915 (Fig. 15) Distribution. Argentina: Corrientes; Bolivia, Brazil, French Guiana, Guatemala and Panama (Gil-Santana 2008). Material examined. 1♀, Misiones, P.N. Iguazú, X-1980, PNI0110 (MACN). Remarks. First record for Misiones province. This species can be distinguished by the general red coloration of the body and the hemelytra with three completely closed discal cells (McAtee and Malloch 1923). The specimen we examine fits with the specific diagnosis given by McAtee and Malloch (1923) where the posterior pronotal spines are short and acute.Published as part of María C. Nidicola Harris & Drake 1941
Nidicola Harris & Drake, 1941
(Figs. 5, 22)

Nidicola Harris & Drake, 1941: 343. Type species: Nidicola marginata Harris & Drake, 1941.

Diagnostic characters. Small size (1.6–2.1 mm), oblong to obovate. Upper surface depressed. Head wider than long; eyes small; rostrum long, surpassing mid coxae. Pronotum much wider than long; anterior margin nearly straight; lateral margins widely explanate, carinated and straight, with anterior angles rounded; basal margin concave. Polymorphic wings, from well developed to not reaching the tip of abdomen, dense and finely punctured, especially in clavus; exocorium narrow. Legs moderately long, with short and slender hairs; femora not enlarged; fore coxae with four or five long setae; male fore tibiae with row of teeth on inner surface; fossula spongiosa small. Female with ovipositor reduced. Left paramere slender, long and slightly spiraled. Ostiolar peritreme (Fig. 22) gently curved forward, basal half a little wider than apical one (a little different to peritreme drawed in DRAKE & HERRING (1964) that is parallel-sided), and apically rounded with small excentric acute tip; median sulcus arises from top of peritreme; dorsal margin of metapleura smooth.

Studied material. Nidicola mitra Drake & Herring, 1964: NICARAGUA: León, V. Telica, 4-IX-1991, 2 JJ 1 ♀, Nolo – González lgt., en nido de Nasutitermes sp. (MACN).

Remarks. This genus includes a very peculiar group of species restricted to southwestern USA, Mexico and Central America. The long setae on fore coxae are probably related to a stridulatory function.
Published as part of Carpintero, Diego Leonardo & Dellapé, Pablo Matías, 2012, Neotropical Scolopini (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Anthocoridae): new taxa, diagnostic characters and a key to the genera of the tribe, pp. 49-66 in Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 52 (1) on page 59, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.5330417
Continental stretching preceding the opening of the Drake Passage: Evidence from Tierra del Fuego
Age estimates for the onset of a seaway through the Drake Passage range from middle Eocene to early Miocene, complicating interpretations of the relation between ocean circulation and Cenozoic global cooling. Here we present evidence for the presence of a latest Paleocene-early Eocene extensional basin (i.e., lateral rift) in Tierra del Fuego. An accurately dated postrift unconformity indicates that extensional faulting ended in the studied area ca. 49 Ma, in concurrence with a previously reported eightfold increase in South America-Antarctica separation rate, and the proposed onset of oceanic basins in the incipient Drake Passage. The coincidence of these facts indicates progressive strain concentration on the zone of future crustal separation (i.e., Drake Passage) after abandonment of lateral rifts ca. 49 Ma. Although the described extensional depocenters did not allow the exchange of water between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, they represent a direct indication of continental lithospheric stretching preceding the recently proposed Eocene opening of embryonic basins in the West Scotia Sea.Fil: Ghiglione, Matias. Brachymetra anduze Drake & Harris, 1942
Brachymetra anduze Drake & Harris, 1942: 95−96 (original description); RUHOFF (1968): 30 (list of taxa described by Drake); ARISTIZÁBAL (2002): 127, 136 (diagnosis).

Brachymetra anduzeei (incorrect subsequent spelling): HARRIS & DRAKE (1945): 212 (list); DRAKE & ROZE (1954): 227 (distribution); DRAKE (1957): 128 (differential diagnosis).

Brachymetra anduzei (incorrect subsequent spelling): MATSUDA (1960): 236 – 237, 240, 524–525, Fig. 538 (morphology, variability); HECKMAN (2011): 132 (key).

One paratype is deposited in NMPC:

PARATYPE (J apter.): ‘Los Lechozos [hw] D. Anduze, mentioning the name three times as Brachymetra anduze, which is therefore the only original spelling. The species epithet, anduze, thus represents a noun in apposition, which contradicts the Recommendation 31A of the ICZN (1999) which however does not make the name unavailable. Subsequently, only RUHOFF (1968) and ARISTIZÁBAL (2002) listed the name as B. anduze. HARRIS & DRAKE (1945), DRAKE & ROZE (1954), and DRAKE (1957) listed the name as B. anduzeei, while MATSUDA (1960) and HECKMAN (2011) used the name as B. anduzei, but neither of them commented on the change of the spelling or mentioned the original spelling at all so their actions cannot be regarded as emendations. As an incorrect transliteration or latinization of the name are not considered inadvertent errors by ICZN (1999: 32.5.1), Brachymetra anduze must be accepted as the correct original spelling, B. anduzeei and B. anduzei being incorrect subsequent spellings.
Published as part of Kment, Petr & Kolínová, Zdislava, 2013, Catalogue of type specimens of true bugs (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) deposited in the National Museum, Prague, Czech Republic, pp. 821-890 in Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 53 (2) on pages 861-862, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.5740731
Neoliberalismo: críticas y resistencias. Entrevista a Juan Pablo Rodríguez
