Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

A protocol for the preservation of speech documents archives: towards the digital curation of the Carta dei Dialetti Italiani
The speech audio documents are in danger of disappearing, because of the poor quality of the material on which they were recorded and the rapid evolution of the recording formats. Moreover, the speech recordings were often made with non-professional systems or in fieldwork circumstances (i.e. with low quality), and in particular cases even risk being forgotten, due to widespread lack of well-established archiving procedures. The paper will describe the protocols defined in some projects carried out by the authors (with particular attention to the project focusing on Carta dei Dialetti Italiani, a unique open reels archive of Italian dialects). The experimental results prove the effectiveness of the preservation protocol defined by the authors

Financial and trade relationships between the Eurozone and China in the age of resilience
How did the financial and trade ties between China and the Eurozone develop in the aftermath of the Eurozone sovereign debt crisis? We analyze these trends until the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Using data from the Bank of International Settlements (BIS) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), we examine the financial and trade dynamics between the two currency areas and analyze the related risks and opportunities. The data point to several patterns. We find that financial volatility in China has been substantially greater than in the Eurozone. Even so, the largest and strongest Eurozone economies—France and Germany—have largely kept their investments in Chinese assets after a four- to sixfold expansion that started in the mid-2000s. In contrast, the financially weakest countries have accounted for the largest increases in trade volumes between China and the Eurozone. We also find that trade volumes are correlated with holdings of Chinese financial assets but assets rose at a substantially smaller rate than trade. These results show that China and the Eurozone continue to be asymmetrically integrated, whereby Eurozone countries still invest more timidly in Chinese financial assets compared to the aggressive trade and infrastructure partnerships initiated by China. We discuss the implications for future financial and trade integration between the two currency areas, which is bound to deepen in light of the Comprehensive Agreement on Investment
Induced Currents due to Nearby Lightning Strike to a Mobile Radar System: an Hybrid 3D/circuit Analysis
The presence of a lightning protection system for mobile radar structure requires a detailed study of the electromagnetic effects due to a nearby lightning strike. Aim of this work is the evaluation of: the induced surface currents on the antenna unit, the currents flowing through the slip-ring (electro-mechanical part connecting the rotating part of the antenna with the fixed one) and the associated dissipated energy, the currents and voltages across the grounding conductors connecting the different units of the mobile radar system. A three dimensional full wave electromagnetic analysis is performed to characterize the induced currents on the antenna unit. This unit is the transformed in an equivalent voltage source. This circuit element is connected to the equivalent circuit model of the grounding cables and rods of the other units to compute the required electrical variables
