Get PDFIn dieser Masterarbeit wird die Thematik der gendersensitiven Stadtgestaltung untersucht und diskutiert. Es stellt sich die Frage, wem der öffentliche Raum gehört und wer im öffentlichen Raum repräsentiert ist. Dabei stehen inklusive und exklusive Gestaltungsaspekte im Fokus ebenso wie mentale Barrieren im öffentlichen Raum. Ein besonderes Augenmerk wird auf die Sichtbarkeit von Frauen im öffentlichen Raum gelegt. Es stellt sich die Frage: Wie können sich Frauen Sichtbarkeit im öffentlichen Raum aneignen? Weiters geht es darum, wie Frauen im öffentlichen Raum repräsentiert werden, oder vielmehr, ob sie überhaupt repräsentiert werden. Die zentrale Forschungsfrage dieser Arbeit lautet: Wie kann das Wohlbefinden von weiblich gelesenen Personen im öffentlichen Raum durch das Sichtbarmachen von weiblichen Biografien gesteigert werden? Diese Themen wie das Wohlfühlen beziehungsweise Nichtwohlfühlen im öffentlichen Raum an bestimmten Orten wurde genauer analysiert und diskutiert. Die angewandten Methoden während der Explorationsphase umfassen die Cultural Probes Methode sowie die Anwendung von qualitativen Fragebögen und qualitativen Leitfadeninterviews, die durch begleitende Aufgaben unterstützt wurden. Ziel ist es, durch eine Intervention im öffentlichen Raum in Kombination mit einer Plakatserie, die auf eine Audioportraitserie verweist, die Sichtbarkeit von Frauen und deren Expertise auf mehreren Ebenen zu erhöhen. Zum einen im urbanen Raum, zum anderen im digitalen Raum. Die Evaluation der Gestaltungslösung umfasste eine Umfrage und konzentrierte sich dabei auf die Interventionen: Plakate im Stadtraum. Ziel ist es, die Macht und Repräsentanz im städtischen Kontext, die immer noch dem männlichen Geschlecht zugeordnet werden zu durchbrechen und die Erhöhung von weiblicher Repräsentanz zu erlangen. Die Ergebnisse aus der Evaluation der Gestaltungslösung waren durchwegs positiv. Die verschiedenen Formate erwiesen sich als effektiv und hatten nachweislich positive Auswirkungen auf die Interessierten. Die Biografien wurden als nachvollziehbar und gut aufbereitet wahrgenommen. Zudem wurde die Thematik als aktuell eingestuft, was das Interesse und die Relevanz des Projekts weiter steigert. Viele der Befragten äußerten sich lobend über das Projekt und gaben an, dass sie es uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen würden. Diese positiven Rückmeldungen unterstreichen die Wirksamkeit der durchgeführten Gestaltungslösung.This Master‘s thesis is about researching and discussing the issues of gender sensitive urban design. It addresses the theme of ownership and representation within public spaces, focusing on inclusive and exclusive design aspects and the mental barriers associated with public spaces. Particular attention is paid to the visibility of women in public spaces and whether they are represented there at all. One of the main questions addressed is: How can women gain visibility in public spaces? This leads to the central question of the thesis: How can the well-being of individuals perceived as female in public spaces be enhanced by improving the visibility of female biographies? These issues, such as the sense of comfort or discomfort in certain public spaces, were analysed and discussed in detail. The Cultural Probes method, paired with the qualitative questionnaires and guided interviews, is applied during the exploratory phase. The study aims to increase the visibility of women and their expertise on multiple levels, and it tries to achieve this through an intervention in public space as a poster series that give access to the respective audio portraits. These prototypes are an attempt to find a way to enhance the visibility of women both in the urban environment and in digital spaces. The evaluation of the design solution is made in form as a survey, focusing on the interventions, namely the placement of the posters in urban spaces. These posters aim, among other things, to challenge the predominantly male power and representation in the urban context and to increase the representation of women. The results of the evaluation of the design solution are consistently positive. The different formats proved to be effective and had a positive impact on the participants. The biographies in the audio portraits were found to be understandable and well prepared. As a result, the topic of the study is seen as relevant, which adds to its importance. Many respondents were complimentary about the project and indicated that they would be keen to recommend it to other people. This positive feedback may confirm the effectiveness of the design solution implemented
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
