No full textTopic of the diploma thesis: Problem solving in the teaching of mathematics Objective: Problem solving is a universal cognitive process and is thus essential not only in our daily lives but also in research and at school. The aim of this diploma thesis is to give an answer to the question of how different problem-solving strategies can be implemented in class. Consequently, the findings may help develop a realistic concept of teaching and practising problem-solving skills. Implementation: This diploma thesis is divided into two parts. The first one serves to provide some theoretical information on problem solving. The theory also comprises definitions from a psychological, a mathematical and a didactical point of view. Besides, there is an introduction to the problem-solving methods. The second part is the more practical part. No full textBu çalışma, Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsünde Mustafa Üstünova'nın danışmanlığında Seval Yumuş tarafından hazırlanan "Kemal'in romanlarında sosyal değerler" adlı yüksek lisans tezine dayanılarak hazırlanmıştır.Kültür ve değerler, bir toplumun yüzyıllar öncesinden getirdiği ve gelecek nesillere aktardığı en önemli manevî mirastır. Kültürü ve değerleri birbirinden ayrı düşünmek mümkün olmadığı gibi bunların aktarımını doğru şekilde yapmak ve kültür ve değerleri çağın gereklerine göre revize etmek de son derece önemlidir. Değerlerin toplumlar için öneminin fark edilmesiyle son yıllarda değerler, hayatın her alanında öne çıkarılmaktadır. Edebiyatçılar ise değerleri, eserleri yoluyla geçmişten günümüze taşıyan önemli kültür ve değer aktarıcılarıdır. Türk edebiyatı yazarlarından Orhan Kemal de romanlarında pek çok değere sıkça vurgu yaparak bu konudaki hassasiyetini göstermiştir. Orhan Kemal’in, romanlarında hak değerine ne şekilde yer verdiği ise bu çalışmanın konusu olmuştur.Culture and values are communities’ most valuable moral inheritance for future generations. Culture and values are inseparable concepts which require correct propagation and revisions appropriate to the prevailing conditions of an age. With the recent recognition attributed to them, values are being promoted even more intensively. Literature is an important conveyor of culture and values in this context. To Be More Accurate: A Study to Investigate the Importance of Explicit Teaching in Monolingual Language Classroom Settings
No full textAbstractThe purpose of this experimental action research was to examine the effectiveness of explicit teaching in reducing the number of the mistakes made by Turkish foreign language learners at lower levels who have difficulty with the accurate use of ⿿to be⿿ in sentence structure. It was conducted by a team of 2 teachers on 40 students in two different classes at a private university in Istanbul, Turkey. Data was collected via the gross number of mistakes made on prompts given before and after the treatment and analyzed with the help of SPSS and G-Power software. While found to be statistically insignificant because of a small sample size, the results of this study found that both implicit and explicit teaching methods were effective in teaching students. At the same time, the results implied that implicit education is more advantageous to the student. In this way, this particular project should serve as a base for more statistically sound future research to explore the importance given to the usage of L1 and explicit teaching in monolingual language classroom settings
Conceptual development of ethical climate and its impacts on individuals and organizations
No full textAksoy, Seval (Dogus Author)“Örgütsel Etik İklim (ÖEİ)” kavramı özellikle 2000’li yıllarda üzerinde fazlasıyla araştırma yapılmış olan bir örgütsel davranış çalışma konusudur. Yapılan bu çalışmada, ÖEİ’nin örgütsel özdeşleşme (ÖÖ), örgütsel bağlılık (ÖB) ve kişiörgüt uyumu (KÖU) kavramlarıyla olan ilişkileri, Kocaeli’nde faaliyet göstermekte olan imalat firmalarında yapılan bir uygulamalı çalışma ile test edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre, ÖEİ ile ÖÖ ve ÖB arasında pozitif ilişkinin bulunduğu, ayrıca ÖEİ ile ÖB ve ÖÖ arasındaki ilişkide KÖU’nun kısmi ara değişken rolü oynadığı tespit edilmiştir.The concept of “Organizational Ethical Climate (OEC)” is a subject matter of organizational attitude research study on which many researchers have been conducted so far, especially after 2000’s. In this research, relationships among OEC and organizational identification (OI), commitment (OC) and personorganization fit (POF) are analyzed through an empirical research conducted in manufacturing firms located in Kocaeli. Results indicate that there are positive relationships between OEC and OI, as well as OEC and OC, also POF mediates the relationships between OEC and OI / OC
Are Lung Cancer Publications Up-to-Date in terms of Advances in Statistics and Bioinformatics?
No full textThis study was performed to evaluate whether literature of lung cancer follow advances in statistics and bioinformatics. Four medical journals with high impact factors were reviewed between January 2013 and December 2017. Among 1649 published manuscript, 514 of them were about lung cancer. Also, Medline was searched with key words combinations of e-learning AND education AND cancer AND patient for last 5 years. New statistical methods weren't applied in the cancer researches performed by clinicians. Furthermore, unlike increasing number of successful studies using internet and computer technologies, number of the study is limited. Working with professional statisticians or collaboration to Biostatisticians will increase the quality of lung cancer papers

Nevertheless, the rapid urbanisation of metropolitan areas in the 20th century Turkey and the parallel transformations in the social, economic, and demographic structures and various other factors have prevented the considerations of cemeteries, which have turned into urban problem areas, as planning and design issues. Consequently, cemeteries in Turkey face problems related to the planning, design, care, management, renewal, and technical subjects, which are based on institutional, legal, intellectual, economic, social and cultural factors. Furthermore, lack of the comprehensive researches particularly in the planning and design disciplines, which may offer a solution to the problems, is another crucial problem. This thesis on the problems of Turkey's cemeteries has two principle purposes: to produce a comprehensive guide book for cemetery studies (both pragmatical and intellectual works), and to develop the planning and design principles for contemporary urban cemeteries by evaluating them with a pragmatical approach. Thesis aims to realise its stated purposes in four phases, these being: constitution of the conceptual, historical, philosophical, cultural, M.d legal basis; determination of the cemetery planning and design principles; testing the principles in Dogan<;ayCemetery; discussion and a fmal evaluation of the fmdings and solutions. Methodology used in the study consisted of three steps. The fIrst step of the method involves the establishment of a conceptual and thkoretical database necessary for further analysis and discussions in the following parts of the study. The second step, which isanalytical, sets the criteria for the evaluation of Izmir's cemeteries. And fmally, the third step includes a pragrnatical approach that proposes a problem solving system for the city of Izmir

Konya yerel basınının ve Konya'daki kültürel ortamın önemli bir ismi olmustur. Beysehir'in Doganbey kazasında dogan Bülbül'ün ailesi, o 8 yasındayken Konya'ya yerlesir. Egitimine bu sehirde devam eden Bülbül lise döneminde bütün yasamı boyunca sürdürecegi ?gazetecilik? meslegine atılır. 1949'dan 1960'lı yılların ortalarına kadar yaklasık 15 yıllık bir sürede siir yazmıs ancak olgun ürünler vermeye baslayacagı sırada siirden uzaklasmıstır. Ancak bu dönemde üç siir kitabı yayınlamıstır. Aynalar Sustu, Güdümlü Mermi ve Gökyüzü Mahallesi bu on bes yılın ürünüdür. Çesitli yayın organlarında dört tane hikâyesi yayınlanmıstır. Bunlardan baska sosyal , kültürel ve siyasi alanda pek çok faaliyetin ortaya çıkmasında ve halka yansıtılmasında görev almıstır. Gazeteciligi 58 yıldır sürdüren Bülbül, bugün hala gazete sütunlarındaki yerini korumaktadır.A. Rıdvan Bülbül is one of the local, representatives of world of poetry and press. As a journalist and a poet, he has always preserved his ?rural, Anatolian? identity. He has become an important Pioneer of Konya local press and of the cultural environment in Konya. Born in Doganbey, Beysehir, Bülbül moved to Konya with his family at the age of 8. He continued his education process in this city. During his lycee years, he embarked on the profession of journalism, which he would engage in all his life. From 1949 to the mid-1960?s, which is period of 15 years, he wrote three poems, but just at the time he was to yield mature Works, he was put off from poetry. However, his three books of poetry were publish during this period. Aynalar Sustu, Güdümlü Mermi and Gökyüzü Mahallesi are the products of this period. Four stories of his have been published in several periodicals. Apart from them, he has undertaken a mission in the emergence and publicity of very many activities in cultural and political areas in the public. Maintaining his profession of journalism for 58 years, Bülbül still keeps his column in newspapers
