Juana Dib y el mahyar árabe-americano

This paper investigates the thematic and aesthetic links between Juana Dib’s poetry with that of emigrant Mahjar writers. It evidences adaptations of perennial themes in Arabic poetry (nationalism, nostalgia, and memory) in Dib’s verses, and argues that the emigrant writers’ break with their poetic past was more selective than it was arbitrary. This contribution then situates Juana Dib’s poetry within the Mahjar literary tradition, and introduces the author as an Arab American poet, in dialogue with her cultural and linguistic heritage.

As Dib himself admits and as several specialists of his writing asserts, the last works of this author don’t dissociates the ethics of aesthetics. Based on this observation, in this article, we propose to study the role of vegetable and mineral signs in the formation of Dib's poetic imagination, taking as corpus of study his last poetic collections. Referring to a few articles and books treating of imaginary, we will consecrate our reflection on the intimate connection between man and the universe, between microcosm and macrocosm. It will be a question of what the second, as a reservoir of cosmic signs, teaches to the poet who is listening to the mute words of the universe

This article would like to show that the spatial duality is envisaged as factor of the subjective composition of the character in some of Mohammed Dibs novels and short stories. From In the coffee to Habel and The terraces of Orsol the author plays on the recurrence of the spatial duality which becomes according to Jean Ricardous terminology an idéo-selecteur, in a way that from the counterpunctic construction of the space the subjective determinations of the characters sets form, the existential crises are outlined and the social oppositions are highlighted, as well as the ethical values expressed metaphorically through the spatial duality.

The Writing of the Extreme Contemporary A Deep Dive into Laëzza by Mohammed Dib

    No full text
Laëzza, the final work of Mohammed Dib, acts as a significant literary testament that delves into themes of alienation, disenchantment, and the search for identity. In this novella, Dib employs a fragmented and subversive writing style, challenging traditional narrative conventions. By blending various literary genres, including short stories, thoughts, and essays, the author crafts a unique and rich narrative space. The fragmented structure of Laëzza reflects the complexities of reality, where temporal markers are blurred, immersing the reader in a vertiginous experience where past, present, and future intertwine. This narrative showcases the figure of Laëzza, an enigmatic character whose identity remains uncertain, symbolizing the internal struggles of individuals in a shifting post-colonial society. By revealing darker areas and addressing themes such as the body, desire, and abjection, Dib creates a work that transcends mere storytelling. Laëzza thus serves as a synthesis of Dib’s writing innovations while opening new avenues for contemporary Algerian and Francophone literature, making it an unclassifiable and profoundly human piece. &nbsp

Gaia Data Release 3: Exploring and mapping the diffuse interstellar band at 862 nm

Context. Diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) are common interstellar absorption features in spectroscopic observations but their origins remain unclear. DIBs play an important role in the life cycle of the interstellar medium (ISM) and can also be used to trace Galactic structure. Aims. Here, we demonstrate the capacity of the Gaia-Radial Velocity Spectrometer (RVS) in Gaia DR3 to reveal the spatial distribution of the unknown molecular species responsible for the most prominent DIB at 862 nm in the RVS passband, exploring the Galactic ISM within a few kiloparsecs from the Sun. Methods. The DIBs are measured within the GSP-Spec module using a Gaussian profile fit for cool stars and a Gaussian process for hot stars. In addition to the equivalent widths and their uncertainties, Gaia DR3 provides their characteristic central wavelength, width, and quality flags. Results. We present an extensive sample of 476 117 individual DIB measurements obtained in a homogeneous way covering the entire sky. We compare spatial distributions of the DIB carrier with interstellar reddening and find evidence that DIB carriers are present in a local bubble around the Sun which contains nearly no dust. We characterised the DIB equivalent width with a local density of 0.19 ± 0.04 kpc1 and a scale height of 98.60 8.46+11.10 pc. The latter is smaller than the dust scale height, indicating that DIBs are more concentrated towards the Galactic plane. We determine the rest-frame wavelength with unprecedented precision (?0 = 8620.86 ± 0.019 in air) and reveal a remarkable correspondence between the DIB velocities and the CO gas velocities, suggesting that the 862 nm DIB carrier is related to macro-molecules. Conclusions. We demonstrate the unique capacity of Gaia to trace the spatial structure of the Galactic ISM using the 862 nm DIB.Astrodynamics & Space Mission

This research is try to find about relevation of education (ta’dib) concept which formulated by al-Attas as an alternative to poduce a good leadership. This research is qualitative research which used character study methodology, as well as used education philosophy, sufistic and lingusitic approach. This research is emphasize internal coherence method to analyzed data, that is understanding all of his concepts of thought based on relevance between one and the other, also establish the most basic of thought and the most central of topics. From this research, the author has discovered that ta’dib is mean instilled adab to human self. Then, leadership is trust from God, which will ask that responsibility. This leadership include two dimension, that is for individu (self) and collective (society).  This leadership is based on justice, wisdom and adab, that justice is realization of adab, in the same manner as refelction of wisdom. Therefore, wisdom (hikmah), courtesy (adab) and justice (‘adl) must be instilled to form leadership.  In the implementation of the ta'dib, there are also several things that must be considered: (1) emphasis on the soul, (2) integration between the knowledge of fardhu ‘ain and fardhu kifayah, and (3) dependence on authority. Beside that, in the implementation of the ta'dib, is use tawhid method.Â

The work of Mohammed Dib is an attempt to dive literature into the real and into reality; the real as a deescrtion of what is lived and the reality to the extent where fiction is only an excuse to express an existential contents than the Algerian in particular, and Man in general knows. In this entity, the quest for a certain identity and a certain past becomes significant for understanding the roundabouts of a present that is in tune with what the Algerian lived. Tlemcen, or the Writing Places, with other than the purely literary scope it offers to the reader, is a work of quest. It implicitly suggests the content of a certain Algeria that the author-photographer highlights to enable the reader- viewer to know a past that, normally, would never have given birth to the present situation of Algeria. It is an investigation into the foundations of the historical changes which are transforming the living of a city and, by extension, of a nation. In our article, we will see how self-quest is a quest for the original tortured place. We will also discuss the primordial role of photography in the story as evidence on a certain temporal and spatial entity, and we will question, in a third point, the added value of the contribution of the photographer Philippe Bordas in the edition of this book.
