THE USE OF SKIT TECHNIQUE TO INCREASE STUDENTS’ SELF-CONFIDENCE IN SPEAKING
No full textPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan Teknik Skit untuk meningkatkan percaya diri siswa dalam berbicara Bahasa Inggris. Berbicara merupakan salah satu keahlian yang penting dalam bahasa Inggris. Untuk berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris sangat diperlukan rasa percaya diri. Seseorang memerlukan rasa percaya diri untuk mengungkapkan sesuatu yang ada dalam pikirannya dengan menggunakan bahasa asing khususnya bahasa Inggris. Tidak semua orang memiliki rasa percaya diri dalam menggunakan bahasa Inggris ketika mengeluarkan ide atau pendapat mereka. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah Teknik Skit dapat meningkatkan rasa percaya diri dalam berbicara dengan menggunakan bahasa Inggris jika dibandingkan dengan yang tidak menggunakan Teknik Skit. Dengan kata lain Teknik Skit dapat membantu meningkatkan rasa percaya diri dalam berbicara menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan populasi 46 siswa pada kelas VIII MTs Darul Ihsan Duri. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan Teknik Random. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, dapat dilihat Ttable Tvalue (2.101 12.466). Hasil ini menunjukkan Ha diterima, dalam artian Teknik Skit berhasil di kelas eksperimen.
The study aimed to know the use of Skit Technique to increase students’ self-confidence in speaking English. Speaking is one of important skills in English. Self-Confidence is really need to speak in English. Someone needs self-confidence to express their idea and their feelings in a foreign language especially in English. Not all of the people have good self-confidence in using English to express or to share their idea and their opinion. The aim of this study is to know whether the Skit Technique can increase self- confidence in speaking English. In other words Skit Technique can help to increase self-confidence in speaking English. The design of this research is experiment. The population of the research is 46 students at the eight grade students of MTs Darul Ihsan Duri. The sample technique is random sampling. From the data, it can be seen that Ttable Tvalue (2.101 12.466). It means Ha is accepted and Skit Technique done in experiment class
A STUDY ON STUDENT’S ANXIETY IN SPEAKING ENGLISH
No full textPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengurangi kecemasan siswa berbahasa Inggris; Penulis melakukan penelitian survei yang desain akan digunakan untuk menlihat tentang kecemasan siswa dalam berbahasa Inggris. penelitian ini di lakukan pada semester VI STAI Hubbulwathan pada bulan April sampai September. Masalah yang ditemukan di dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa kecemasan mahasiswa untuk berbicara bahasa Inggris di dalam kelas. Untuk menjawab permasalahan penulis memberikan kuesioner dan wawancara untuk mengetahui adakah penyebab kecemasan tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) siswa dapat berbicara bahasa Inggris di dalam kelas. (2) Para siswa mendapatkan informasi tentang masalah kecemasan mereka untuk berbicara bahasa Inggris di dalam kelas. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah guru dapat memberikan sebagai stimulus untuk merangsang motivasi siswa untuk terlibat dalam pelajaran. sehingga guru dapat mengembangkan kegiatan belajar yang menyenangkan dan mempromosikan siswa percaya diri
THE EFFECT OF USING POWER TEACHING STRATEGY ON STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ABILITY AT THE EIGHT GRADE STUDENTS OF MTs HUBBULWATHAN DURI
No full textPenelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan kemampuan berbicara siswa antara kelompok kontrol engan kelompok eksperimen.Sebelum menggunakan Power Teaching Strategy nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 53.64 setelah menggunakan Power Teaching Strategy nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 78.00. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa t-diperoleh 2.73 pada tingkat signifikansi α = 0.05 dan derajat kebebasan (df) 94 yang diperoleh dari N-1,t-kritis adalah 1.98. T-diperoleh lebih tinggi dari t-kritis. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada efek yang signifikan antara kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas delapan M.Ts Hubbulwathan Duri setelah menggunakan Power Teaching Strategy

Group Investigation Through Instagram in Public Speaking Class at STAI Hubbulwathan Duri: Case Study
Full text linkThe purpose of this study is to look into the use of Group Investigation through Instagram as a public speaking learning sytartegy in the context of STAI Hubbulwathan Duri. The purpose of this case study is to investigate how the Group Investigation strategy is used in a public speaking class through Instagram, and how it affects students' learning outcomes and oral communication skills. The study intends to add to the existing literature on the effectiveness of Group Investigation as a learning method in the EFL context, particularly in developing students' speaking skills, as well as to investigate the potential of social media, specifically Instagram, as a tool to support language learning. The data took from interview and observation of the fourth semester students of English Department at STAI Hubbulwatahan Duri. The result showed the Group Investigation strategy was effective for English teaching, particularly for public speaking skills. The use of Instagram in the Group Investigation strategy provided an opportunity for students to easily share their views and engage in effective discussions while working together.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
