Implementing malay language in linguistic steganography / Amirulikhsan Zolkafli and Roshidi Din
Steganography, a part of information hiding is an art of hiding information into another medium of information (text, audio, video, image, etc ) with the main purpose is securing information during communication. With the purpose of opening an opportunity to create a communication channel that is covert and subliminal between two parties where by the existence of the particular message being sent and received are kept unknown or innocuous to any possible attacker. Steganography can be divided into two that is technical steganography and linguistic steganography. English have been widely used in linguistic steganography. Therefore, the main objective of this paper is to see whether other languages are compatible to be implement as linguistic steganography. This paper will discuss briefly on linguistic steganography and its system model. The comparison study is done based on linguistic aspects (syntactic and semantic) of several foreign language that have been developed into machine translation system. Chinese, Japanese, and Malay will be compared, in which the characteristic of Malay language will be highlighted in this paper. We will be discussing the purpose of using its language structure to hide secret information in it. This is to show several characteristic of Malay language that could be used in linguistic steganography. Finally, this paper by mentioning the general potential of information hiding and the impact in the form of applications that it could give to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) environment
Noise enhancement method for speech signal processing / Muhamad Arif Hashim and Roshidi Din
Speech recognition is like biometric (eg. smartcard) that based on person voice (speech) which is convert to signal, recognize whether the intended person is genuine or not. Basically, signal consists two kind of information: message information and noise information and as well as speech signal, it contains speech information and noise information. Generally, noise information is not needed and causes trouble by disturbing the speech signal and adds errors to the signal. To overcome this problem, speech enhancement method is used to separate speech information and noise from speech signal using several kinds of techniques such as Kalman Filtering and Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR) and enhance the intended feature (speech information). In this paper; our main intention on different method called noise enhancement method, which based on speech enhancement method to recognize the intended speech signal and learning noise behaviors and its usefulness. The relationship between noise and speech signal will be discuss including chronology of speech signal processing and types of noise that appears. We state steps on doing the noise enhancement method and some mathematical basis will be presented. Finally, we will discuss challenge that occur and conclude it based on based on the discussion. Hopefully, it will give a new direction of noise and speech's intention not just in information communication and technology field but also in speech research, sound engineering and other related fields
Implementing data hiding in still images / lman Hazwam Abd. Halim and Roshidi Din
Data hiding refers to the nearly invisible embedding of information within various host data sets and one of them is by using still images. It is a highly multidisciplinary field that combines image and signal processing with cryptography, communication theory, coding theory, signal compression, and the theory of visual perception. There are a number of ways exist to hide information in still images. Common approaches include least significant bit insertion, masking and filtering, algorithm and transformations, and spread spectrum techniques. Each of these techniques can be applied, with varying degrees of success, to different image files formats. The data hiding process of each method will be discussed in this paper and the comparison tables that. show the suitability of different image file types with the recent data hiding methods according to some parameters also will be provided. This paper also will discuss about the challenges in implementing data hiding in still images

Designing the key detection of text steganalysis based
Information hiding techniques have been developing very fast and because of that, covert communication gained more attentions especially among steganalyst and researchers on steganology area.However, most of the previous studies have only concentrate on non-text media and obviously lack focuses on text steganalysis based.A main problem in text steganalysis is to comprehend key detection for steganlyst in order to detect any text, stego text or clear text.Therefore, this study focuses on proposing a conceptual design of detected key in text steganalysis based.The methodology of this study basically covers three phases.The first phase emphasizes on text based environment in steganalysis domain aim to categorize the steganalysis types.The entire key detection feature in the experiment will be used in the second phase to analyze the key used in terms of the right statistical and mathematical formulation.The third phase is to develop a design of key detection in text steganalysis based where it shall make use of the process flow of text steganalysis to complete the key management phase. Finally, the output of this study which is a key detection design will be used as a reference for steganalyst to analyze a suspected stego text
Usefulness and applications of entropy measurement / Muhamad Arif Hashim and Roshidi Din
Basically, entropy is a measure of uncertainty, a mathematical equation in defining the between certainty and uncertainty. Although the term has been around the world for a long time, there still lack in literature for better understanding of its usefulness and applications. In this paper, we mainly focus on the entropy by clarifying the real meaning of it in a simple and understandable mathematical way from a communication field point of view. The entropy properties and rules will be discussed in detail and we try to relate it with logarithm measure for a better understanding of entropy scenario. Some usefulness and applications of entropy in various fields such as communication, thermodynamic will be presented. We conclude this paper and state some challenges in applying entropy measurement. Hopefully, it will bring a new and better understanding of entropy not just to researcher and mathematician, but also to other related individual such as engineer and academician in applying this powerful measurement tool in their field
Steganography analysis techniques applied to audio and image files
The present work carries out a descriptive analysis of the main steganography techniques used in specific digital media such as audio and image files. For this purpose, a literary review of the domains, methods, and techniques as part of this set was carried out and their functioning, qualities, and weaknesses are identified. Hence, it is concluded that there is a wide relationship between audio and image steganography techniques in their implementation form. Nevertheless, it is determined that LSB is one of the weakest techniques, but the safest and the most robust technique within each type of the presented medium
