    Nora, Nora : a novel

    No full text
Peyton is not ready to share her widowed father with anyone, let alone a barely remembered cousin who just rolled into town. However, her father seems to like Nora well enough, and prim Aunt Augusta hates her, which raises Nora slightly in Peyton's esteem. Maybe Nora is just what quiet Lytton, Georgia needs this summer. The whole household is revitalized by Nora's energy, and it looks like she might stay on forever. But soon it becomes clear that something is troubling Nora deeply. It has to be something from her past that's bothering her, something she is running away from. When the shocking truth comes to light, it stuns the residents of their small segregated town. It also teaches Peyton the enormous cost of loving -- and the necessity of doing it anyway. New York Times bestselling author Anne Rivers Siddons has created a quirky, wildly likeable, and truly unforgettable heroine. Nora, Nora is a wonderful novel, written with insight and a keen sense of time and place. It is destined to be Anne Rivers Siddons's biggest hit yet

Advancing Research and Practice in the Global Contexts), no sabía en qué me metía. Dimitrova Radosveta, Wiium Nora. Lexical representation and access in children and adults

    No full text
The goal of the research presented in this paper is to shed light on the nature of lexical representation and access: how the lexicon develops between early childhood and adulthood; what linguistic factors are associated with lexical access, and most importantly, how the lexicon is organized. On this last point, the questions of interest are whether the lexicon is semantically organized, and if so, what semantic features drive lexical access.M.S.Includes bibliographical referencesby Nora Isacof

Memory and History: Pierre Nora and the lieux de memoire

    No full text
The article gives an outline of the concept of the lieux de memoire and presents an interview with its main exponent, the French historian Pierre Nora. Nora distinguishes ,historical memory’ and ,collective memory’, the first of which is the result of scholarly work done by academic historians. Nora\u27s historiographic approach tries to reconstruct collective memory by the study of the ,places of memory’ (i. e. topographical, symbolic and functional places). Nora attempts to analyse the memory of the nation and of the republic of France dealing with symbols, myths and stereotypes which give access to national consciousness. The author suggests the application of this concept to the symbolic topics of Austrian history and historiography. The article gives an outline of the concept of the lieux de memoire and presents an interview with its main exponent, the French historian Pierre Nora.
