Experimental poetics of “The adventures of the Electric Harlequin” by V.G. Shershenevich: the genre features

    No full text
The article is devoted to the genre features in the insufficiently explored work "The Adventures of the Electric Harlequin" by imaginist V.G. Shershenevich. The author of the article identifies the signs of the commedia dell'arte, the tragic farce, the farcical action, the "drama for reading", the elements of poetry and drama. The author concludes syncretic nature of genre in this work

Highly efficient and stable NiSe2-rGO composite-based room temperature hydrogen gas sensor

    No full text
The widespread consumption of hydrogen in commercial and industrial applications has resulted in the devel- opment of different hydrogen gas sensors. However, their practical application is restricted due to their non-cost efficiency, low sensitivity, poor selectivity and high temperature sensing properties. Thus, the development of a sensor capable of overcoming the aforementioned limitations is critical for commercial deployment. As a result, a NiSe2-rGO composite-based H2 gas sensor has been prepared for the first time using a simple hydrothermal technique. The developed material has been systematically characterized for its morphological properties and thoroughly investigated for H2 gas sensing applications. The findings show that the developed NiSe2-rGO composite exhibited enhanced H2 gas sensing properties, besides possessing appreciable selectivity, repeatability as well as long-term stability. Furthermore, the results demonstrate a stable sensor response of 254% within 43 s and 13 s of response and recovery time respectively at a hydrogen concentration of 500 ppm which is 8 and 500 times higher than that of its individual counterparts (NiSe2 and rGO) over a wide relative humidity range, indicating the material’s potential for application in industrial environments. Thus, this work paves the way for the development of stable, effective, fast-responding, and selective hydrogen gas sensors that are functional at room temperature

Efficient pricing of barrier options with the variance-gamma model

    No full text
We develop an efficient Monte Carlo algorithm for pricing barrier options with the variance gamma model [fMAD98a]. After generalizing the double-gamma bridge sampling algorithm of [fAVR03a], we develop conditional bounds on the process paths and exploit these bounds toprice barrier options. The algorithm's efficiency stems from sampling the process paths up to a random resolution that is usually much coarser than the original path resolution. We obtain unbiased estimators, including the case of continuous-time monitoring of the barrier crossing. Our numerical examples show large efficiency gain relative to full-dimensional path sampling

Literary Portrait of V.G. Shershenevich in the Works of Barnaul Writers

    No full text
Imaginist poet V.G. Shershenevich died and was buried in 1942 in Barnaul. The fact of the death and burial of the capital’s author in a provincial town has become a landmark event for regional self-identification, and initiated a particular thematic line in local history and fiction. For the first time the article reveals the image of V.G. Shershenevich, which was developed in the work of Barnaul writers. The analysis of poetic and prose texts shows how the reconstruction of the last days of the poet’s life fits him into the urban landscape, how the grave becomes a semantically productive element of the locus. The basic motifs that model the image of the writer are associated with the change of poles of the oppositions “center — periphery,” “glory — oblivion,” “friend — alien (foreign),” “genius – mediocrity,” “friendship — enmity” with S.A. Yesenin. Literary portrait of Shershenevich comes from the synthesis of the features of his poetics, aesthetic attitudes, life events and the realities of the city. Altai writers tend to project literary and historical facts related to the imagist onto their own work and destiny. There is a tendency to turn the poet into a genius loci

This article is the first of all author’s series, dedicated to teaching officials of Volynsky Lyceum in the town of Kremenets. The service records dated 1832 found in the State Archive of Kharkovskaya Oblast, have been taken as a basis of the research work where the author studies the life journey of V.G. Besser, A.I. Maevsky, F.I. Mekhovich. What makes these biographies unique is that they feature CVs of aforesaid people before the year 1832. This year marked the dissolvent of Volynsky Liceum

The Alliance between Mengu-Timur and Abaga: The Problem of Sources Interpretation and Translation of Persian and Turkic Terms in Arabic Texts (on the example of “Collection of Materials Relating to the Golden Horde History. Volume I. Excerpts from the Arabic Writings” composed by V.G. Tiesenhausen) »

The article deals with the problem of translation of Persian and Turkic lexical units in Arabic texts written between the 13th and 16th centuries. Author examines as an example an excerpt from the work of Ibn Khaldun (732/1332 – 808/1406) translated by V.G. Tiesenhausen. The author provides comments to the given translation and presents his own translation. The author also presents original analysis of the source both about the relations between Golden Horde and Constantinople and on the battle of Homs in 680 AH between Mangu Timur, son of Hulagu, and the Mamluk sultan al-Mansur. The author tries to prove that Mengu-Timur, son of Togan, did not participate in that war. This article also presents new sources of such authors as Yunini Kutb ad-din Musa ibn Muhammad (640/1242 – 726/1326), Yafi’I Abdulla ibn As’ad (698 – 768 AH) and bibliographic collection of al-Markisi Taki ad-din (died in 845 AH)

    Adaptability in dynamic wireless networks

    No full text
Software for networked embedded systems faces several challenges when the deployed network is subject to changing circumstances during operation. Typically, inter-node communication and network connectivity are two crucial aspects that are directly affected by dynamics such as failing wireless links and node mobility. Therefore, the embedded software has to adapt at runtime in order to account for these dynamics. This thesis investigates the possibilitiy of using decentralized algorithms for run-time adaptability in dynamic wireless networks. Aimed at real-world scenarios, this thesis presents a class of decentralized algorithms that exploit the power of collaborative processing between nodes to achieve adaptability.Embedded SoftwareElectrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Scienc
