    AN ANALYSIS OF SPEECH FUNCTION AT TRADITIONAL SHOPPING CENTER IN LANGSA

    This study deals with Speech function at traditional shopping center in Langsa. The objectives of this study are to find out the types of speech function, the most dominant type of speech function used, and the meaning of the dominantly used. The research of this study was carried by using descriptive qualitative. The data were taken from ten sales and buyers conversation using longer and short conversation  at traditional shopping center. The data were analyzed and classified into four types of speech functions namely statement, question, offer, and command. The findings indicated based on longer and short conversation there are  statement 43 (40,18%), question 53(49,53%), offer 7 (6,5%), command 4 (3,73%) while on short conversation are statement 13 (30.9%), Question 22 (52,3%), offer 5(11,9%) and Command 2(4,7%). Question as the most dominant type of speech function used in sales and buyers on both conversation. It means questions always happened in the traditional shopping center to give demand and information

    Studi ini fokus pada permasalahan perspektif orang tua terhadap kesetaraan gender dan inklusi sosial dalam upaya meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan anak. Persfektip orang tua terhadap kesamaan pemberian hak kepada anak dalam mengenyam pendidikan dapat dipengaruhi oleh peraturan khas yang berlaku pada suatu daerah. Pola fikir orang tua dalam menentukan keputusan dianalisa melalui konsep Bourdieu yaitu habitus, kelas, modal, dan ranah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Gampong Batee Puteh, Langsa. Metode yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriftip kualitatif dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui lebih dalam pandangan responden terhadap masalah yang terjadi melalui ungkapan-ungkapan dan fakta-fakta dalam situasi yang natural. Data diperoleh melalui observasi dan wawancara secara mendalam. Berdasarkan  hasil penelitian diperoleh informasi bahwa setiap anak baik laki-laki maupun perempuan memiliki hak yang sama dalam pendidikan. Lembaga penyelenggara pendidikan dengan fokus pendidikan agama Islam menjadi pilihan bagi orang tua sebagai pendidikan yang harus dijalani oleh anak. Perbedaan pola fikir orang tua dalam memaknai pendidikan, tujuan, fungsi, serta manfaat yang diperoleh dari pendidikan didasari oleh ide yang muncul secara alami, perbedaan tingkat pendidikan, hubungan sosial yang terjalin dalam masyarakat, serta pemertahanan posisi keberadaan suatu keluarga dalam lingkungan sosia

    The shift of Acehnese language: A sociolinguistic study to preserve regional languages

    This study uses a case study research method with a qualitative study design. The aims of the study were to find out the domains of Acehnese language shifts in Langsa and the reasons why Acehnese teenagers are shifting their language. Five districts in Langsa, one of the cities in Aceh, Indonesia, became the research location. They were Langsa Kota, Langsa Barat, Langsa Timur, Langsa Baroe and Langsa Lama. The respondents were Acehnese young adults within the age range of 18 to 21 years old. There were 10 respondents from each district, making a total of 50 respondents. The instruments used in this study were observations, a questionnaire, and interviews. Simple statistics were used to analyse the questionnaire, meanwhile the data analysis for the observations and interviews followed an interactive model from Miles and Huberman, namely: data reduction, data display, verification of data, and conclusions. The results showed that the domains of education (30 respondents) and of friendship (27 respondents had the largest number of shifters. Meanwhile, the family domain had the least shifts, so it was concluded that shifts rarely occurred in this domain. Finally, there are three fundamental factors that influenced the shift: environment, habitual usage, and choice of language

    The Effect of Using Blended Learning Model on Enhancing Students' Speaking Skills in Senior High Schools

    This study aimed at investigating the effect of blended learning on the English-students’ speaking skills at SMAN 2 Patra Nusa Aceh Tamiang. Also, this study investigated students’ level differences of English-speaking skills of SMA Patra Nusa students. Twenty-five students of the eleventh-grade class were involved in this study. This study used a quasi-experimental with pre-experimental design. The instruments used in this study were observation and test (pretest and posttest). The results of data analysis showed that sig. 2-tailed = 0.000 < α (0.05), it means reject H0, accepted Ha. Finding obtained of pretest 77,04 and posttest 88,95. In conclusion, the mean pretest and posttest scores differ significantly. In other words, blended learning positively affects students speaking skills used in the media google classroom at SMA N 2 Patranusa

    The effectiveness of Google Classroom in teaching English during Covid-19 at SMA N 1 M. Payed

    This research aimed to find out Google Classroom effectiveness, which was used to enhance students' speaking skill. This research used a quasi-experimental with a pre-experimental research design. The subject of this study is the eleventh grade of senior high school at SMA N 1 M. Payed. It involved 25 students as a sample of this study. In the process of data collection, the researcher used a pre-test and post-test. The researcher analyzed the data using Wilcoxon Ranks Test to test the hypothesis. This study found the value of significance (2-tailed) was lower than the significance level (0.000 < 0.05), then the Ha was accepted. It means there was a significant value on students' achievement of the speaking skill by using Google Classroom. Finding obtained of pretest 71,20 and posttest 78,16. In conclusion, the mean pretest and posttest scores differ significantly, or there is an effect of using Google Classroom enhancing students speaking skill at SMA N 1 Manyak Payed. However, it can be concluded that Google Classroom significantly affects students' speaking skill and helps them finish and collect the assignment without any bound by time and space

    FROM REVIEW TO REFLECTION: EXPLORING STUDENTS’ PERSPECTIVES ON CRITIQUING ACADEMIC ARTICLES

    This study investigates perceptions of, attitudes toward, challenges in, and how critique is influencing students’ academic and reflective growth. Data were collected according to a mixed-methods study design through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with 25 undergraduate students enrolled in a Critical Reading course at Universitas Samudra. It has been found that appreciation by the students of the significance of critique in building critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and academic writing exists, but they find it challenging to handle complex terminologies, identifying arguments, and being objective. Time also seems to be a limiting factor. Students perceive that guided practice, group discussion, and further practice would make them more competent in critiquing. The literature addresses the need for learning processes that enable students to transition from recapitulation to critical thinking, and eventually to more intellectual engagement and confidence in scholarship. The literature guides the overarching argument about critical reading and its role in college learning

    Pelatihan Budidaya Tenebrio molitor Sebagai Pakan Burung Puyuh Untuk Masyarakat di Desa Batee Puteh Kecamatan Langsa Lama

    Budidaya burung puyuh merupakan salah satu mata pencaharian masyarakat Desa Batee Puteh, Langsa Lama, Aceh. Pakan yang digunakan merupakan pakan komersial yang biasa digunakan untuk sebagian besar peternak pada umumnya. Namun pada terkendala dalam hasil pada produksi telur yang dihasilkan. Penambahan pakan alternatif sangat dibutuhkan menunjung produktivitas burung puyuh. Ulat hongkong (Tenebrio molitor L) adalah jenis serangga yang memiliki protein tinggi baik untuk unggas menjadi sumber protein bagi hewan ternak. Kandungan protein dari ulat hongkong mencapai 45,87%,  lemak kasar 15.04%, serat kasar 8.24%, kadar abu 5.52% dan bahan kering 90.64% sangat baik digunakan untuk pakan burung puyuh. Budidaya dari ulat hongkong juga sederhana dapat diaplikasikan oleh masyarakat. Adapun tahapan yang dilakukan yaitu; (1) proses pembuatan kandang ulat hongkong, (2) pelaksanaan budidaya ulat hongkong untuk pakan burung puyuh, (3) evaluasi. Hasil dari budidaya ulat hongkong akan diolah menjadi tepung ulat hongkong yang akan di jadikan pakan alteratif pendamping untuk burung puyuh. Dari hasil pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat ini penggunaan ulat hongkong untuk pakan burung dapat meningkatkan produksi telur burung puyuh bila dikembangkan dapat menambah nilai ekonomi.Kata kunci : Ulat hongkong, burung puyuh, pakan, produktivitas, telur

    Abstrak: Beberapa kegiatan melalui kerja sama telah dilakukan dan mendapat respon yang positif. Namun, JSDI khususnya wilayah Aceh Timur belum mampu merekrut anggota secara luas dan memberikan pelayanan yang optimal kepada anggota dan calon anggota. Selain itu, website resmi organisasipun statusnya dalam perbaikan (maintenance) hingga sekarang. Sehingga, para guru yang bergabung menjadi anggota JSDI hanya berjumlah 6 orang. Tujuan PkM adalah: (1) memperbaiki fasilitas layanan mitra untuk mewujudkan tujuan mitra membantu guru mengimplikasikan kurikulum merdeka melalui produk aplikasi eduweb app media satu pintu yang mengoptimalkan program kerja mitra; (2) meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mitra mengembangkan eduweb app sebagai media satu pintu mengoptimalkan program kerja JSDI. Bentuk kegiatan PkM ini berupa kegiatan sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan pendampingan. Evaluasi terhadap ketercapaian indikator keberhasilan diketahui dari pengumpulan data dilakukan, yaitu menggunakan lembar wawancara dan angket. Hasil kegiatan PkM berupa sebuah eduweb app bernama “sahabat guru digital” yang dapat membantu para guru terutama anggota JSDI dalam menerapkan kurikulum Merdeka. Selain itu, produk ini dapat menyelesaikan permasalahan mitra terkait perbaikan fasilitas penyampaian informasi kepada anggota dan masyarakat melalui media satu pintu, serta meningkatkan pelayanan dalam hal perluasan keanggotaan dan keterlibatan masyarakat pada setiap kegiatan yang diselenggarakan oleh mitra. Berdasarkan jawaban peserta pelatihan dan pendampingan, pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota mitra mengembangkan eduweb app meningkat dari 52% menjadi 72% setelah kegiatan.Abstract: Several collaborative activities have been conducted, receiving positive responses. However, JSDI, especially in the East Aceh region, has not been able to recruit members widely and provide optimal services to its members and potential members. Furthermore, the official organization website is still undergoing maintenance to this day. As a result, the number of teachers who have joined as JSDI members is only six. The objectives of this Community Service Program (PkM) are as follows: (1) to improve partner service facilities to help partners achieve their goal of assisting teachers in implementing the independent curriculum through the Eduweb App, a one-stop media application that optimizes partner work programs; (2) to enhance the knowledge and skills of partners in developing the Eduweb App as a one-stop media to optimize JSDI's work programs. The PkM activities include socialization, training, and mentoring. Evaluation of the achievement of success indicators is known from data collection, namely using interview sheets and questionnaires.. The result of the PkM activities is an Eduweb app called "Sahabat Guru Digital”, which can assist teachers, especially JSDI members, in implementing the independent curriculum. Furthermore, this product can address partner issues related to improving information delivery facilities to members and the public through a one-stop media, as well as improving services in terms of expanding membership and community involvement in every activity organized by the partners. Based on the answers of training and mentoring participants, the knowledge and skills of partner members developing eduweb apps increased from 52% to 72% after the activity

    PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT AND ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENT: INSIGHTS FROM INDONESIAN MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

    Parents play a vital role in supporting their children’s academic achievement. This study aims to identify the types of parental involvement that support students’ English learning at SMPN 3 Langsa and to examine how these forms of involvement relate to students’ English achievement. This study addresses this gap by examining the forms and effects of parental involvement on English achievement among eighth-grade students in an Indonesian public middle school. Guided by Epstein’s Framework of Parental Involvement, this study categorizes parental practices into six types and investigates their relationship with students’ formal English achievement scores. A qualitative-dominant design was employed, triangulating three data sources: (1) questionnaires measuring the frequency of involvement across Epstein’s types, (2) semi-structured interviews exploring parental practices and motivations, and (3) official English score documents quantifying students’ achievement. Findings show that parenting, learning at home, and volunteering were the most frequently practiced types of involvement, with rates of 89%, 84%, and 82%, respectively. Qualitative patterns indicated that learning-at-home involvement—including homework supervision and structured study routines—was strongly associated with higher English achievement scores, particularly among students consistently surpassing the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). The study contributes context-specific evidence for designing targeted parental engagement programs that address the unique demands of L2 learning in Indonesian middle schools
